I'll never forget when she came to my high-school... She passed about 2 months after... I quit pretty soon after that, I just could not stop seeing her face in my mind every time I lit a cig. Best thing I ever did was QUIT THAT SHIT. She scared the living fuck out of me and my friends, and that's why I love this woman. Rest in peace Barb

What’s amazing about her is that she could have just ended up so bitter and resentful at the fact that she was dying so early. She could have wallowed in guilt and self-regret, but instead, used her own story to warn others. It gave her no reward or relief, and yet she still did it. Just amazing and an inspiration

Good, don't ever pick up a damn cigarette ever! It's disgusting 🤢 I was a smoker for 15 years and now I'm going on about 3 almost 4 years smoke free. Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my entire life and I'm so glad I did it. But those 15 years have definitely taken a tole on my health, it definitely made my skin age a lot faster than normal as I look older than what I actually am. It also helped progress my gingivitis to periodontal disease and due to lack of dental insurance I have significant bone loss in my lower mandible and I'm at risk of losing several of my teeth and now have to go through extensive deep cleanings and possibly surgeries as well 😞

They have a heart, hon. But it's hard for them because they are not happy to be confronted with their mortality. It's more comfortable to be in denial and to pretend that you can quit when you want. It's also associated with pleasure for others, so they are not ready yet to accept Barb's message (no matter how amazingly brave she was). But they know that it kills them. One day, they will come back to this video and change their thumb down for a thumb up - and quit for good!

I'm wishing I had watched this sooner, for some reason her picture on the cigarette pack I bought here in Canada today led me to watch this right now. I've seen her picture on the packages before and never paid them any mind even though I've known about her since this was all filmed. It's scary, It's a wake up call for sure and a good motivator... What really gets me is the limited amount of views this has, It's sad when people are more concerned weather Kim kardashian lost her cell phone or not, but I'm not here to rant and rave about popularity. I have 13 smokes left in the package with her picture on them and I hope they're my last.... I'm planning to keep that empty package as a reminder. God bless you Barb, I'm sure you've added more years to peoples lives than anyone could possibly imagine. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.. P..S... I found the easiest way to quit was to keep yourself occupied doing something else. One time me, mom and nanny went to get something at a store. Nan went inside and I stayed in the car with mom. I watched outside and I saw a girl about 23 get out of the car next to ours. And she took out a cigarette and started smoking. A while later she got in the car and the drivers window rolled down, and a man was smoking inside and he threw the cigarette on the ground. It was probably the most shocking thing I ever saw. It was frightening on how many people smoked because they're family members smoke. But to everyone out there, whether your a teenager or a adult, please do not smoke. You may think that it won't hurt but it will. It will not be worth the money. You work hard to stay healthy, please do not hurt yourself with smoking.

I've tried to quit 4 times but relapsed and failed in all of them. Every time I relapsed I watched this video to remind me to quit, when I'm mentally ready again. My life is already hectic and it's a bit hard right now.
I'm in so much denial again after my last relapse, that smoking helps me. But I'm aware it affects me badly in so many ways. But I'm still in a positive mindset to quit later on this year, I hope to succeed doing so.
The "Smoking affects YOU and those that YOU LOVE" always gets me in tears, but being in denial is so difficult. My left lung already feels damaged and painful. But I'm sure I'll be okay. :)
I love you angel Barb Tarbox, rest in peace. Your influence upon others will always be remembered, regardless of what you've gone through and did so yourself. ❤️

UPDATE: I'm smoke free for 6-7 months already. I've stopped smoking successfully. I sometimes come to this video to remind me, to NEVER go back to smoking/cigarettes. To refresh my mind, sometimes I do have my obstacles.
Sometimes smoking thoughts resurface, and I manage to knock them down like a champ. And these kind of videos reinforce the non-smoker thoughts, after quitting smoking successfully.
No one deserves to suffer from smoking. I don't blame people though, it isn't their fault. It's the TOBACCO COMPANIES. Everyone can quit, it is POSSIBLE. Good luck to whoever goes through their battle of quitting smoking, you can DO IT. I BELIEVE IN YOU! If I made it, so CAN YOU. ❤

I lost both of my paternal grandparents because of smoking. My grandfather, who was an outdoors man suffered from COPD for several years, and was chained to an oxygen machine, hardly able to get around, hardly saw the outside for the last 6 1/2 years of his life. My grandmother died about 7 years later from lung cancer. I watched that healthy strong willed woman in her 70's wither away into nothing in less than a year. I wouldn't touch a cigarette with a ten foot pole after seeing them die the way they did. I love that Barb didn't spare any details, because the diseases that come from smoking sure as hell don't.

I used 2 smoke 4 awhile and I am glad I quit and I only did it 4 one month in my mid 20s. Cancer is a beast, it can affect any1. R.I.P. Barb Tarbox. He was diagnosed in the summer of 2014 and he unfortunately passed away in Nov 2014 after losing the battle.
