    I could have used one this morning. Heard a noise from across the street but couldn’t see anything. Got in my truck to leave, turned on my headlights and bam, a bum was stealing from my neighbors pickup. He literally would have had the jump on me if that had been his intention, because I couldn’t see him, but luckily he was just trying to steal tools. Arrested down the street. Way to go Henderson PD!!

      Go lucky enough that your neighbor had enough of something interesting that kept his focus on it and not on you. It's incidences like this that I always make sure to have at least one type of self defense tool on my belt every day that I'm awake. You can't ever tell what somebody's intentions are until it's go time, then you quickly find out that you are the target. It's even worse when it's dark and you don't have a flashlight. I've carried a flashlight every day for the past 10+ years and it drives me nuts when I don't have it, the same goes for my knife and my Leatherman. It just doesn't feel right without them to the extent that I almost don't know how to function.lol. Get to work and find yourself acting like it's your first job and your first day out of high school except your 47.lol

    Just purchased mine and the only negative is the fixed 3 x zoom. Other than this it's just like your review. Very good and clear image. Even pointed at the night sky shows things that wouldn't be seen at night with the naked eye. Happy days.

    I got the Cape after your review. Very happy with that, waiting for attachments to come in to mount to my helmet. Nightfox offers some very good stuff. Why buy the Ferrari in night vision, when a Hyundai will work, as it does for me?!

      Thanks so much, Wehrmeister! We hope your Cape gives you years of loyal service. Hyundai have come a long way in our lifetime - we'll try and keep up with their rate of progress!

    You can turn the monocular upside down to refocus the front lens, then turn it up the right way to continue operating it, to save your hand getting in the way of the IR sight. Also, wear contact lenses if your glasses get in the way when looking into eye cup

    This is the kind of device that could REALLY benefit by being able to use either an 18650 OR a 21700 cell. The 21700 cell is *only 3mm wider and 5mm longer* yet can hold almost 50% more mAh than an 18650. It's not difficult to make a battery compartment that can handle either cell form-factor. So with a 21700 cell you can get a REAL 5,000mAh cell for about US$8 to $12 rather than some brand claiming their 18650 can provide 5,000mAh (which is extremely unlikely for any cell at anything near a reasonable cost or with a long life).
    Of course, if you want maximum compatibility with other devices you use (like flashlights) that probably take an 18650, then you can do that instead.
    *So being able to use either an 18650 or a 21700 is a win-win product design feature*
    Making a product 18650/21700 battery capability is such an easy design point I'm frankly very surprised more manufacturers don't do this.

      @nightfoxnightvision Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks so much, exgenica. We're really pleased to be one of the first to use 18650 and we have more models in the pipeline doing the same. Great idea with 21700 cells, we'll pass on to the dev team - as you say, they likely picked 18650 because so many customers already have 18650s from flashlights. You're so right to emphasise "REAL" 5,000mAh - most sellers seem to print whatever they like on the side of the battery, with no retribution!

    • @chadh3441
      @chadh3441 Před 3 lety

      My EDC flashlight takes both, and the adapter for the 18650 batteries is just a plastic tube with a big brass button on the bottom. It would be cheap enough to make and include with everything that runs on the 21700 batteries. This is a bonus for me since I have almost a dozen 18650's set aside for my flashlights.

      @@chadh3441 well I hope we can help assist you to put those spare 18650's to good use!

    • @exgenica
      @exgenica Před 3 lety

      @@chadh3441 I sincerely believe that small, low-cost adapter allowing the use of 2 different cell types gives that flashlight a competitive advantage. I definitely prefer using 21700 cells for longer run-time when I can.

    Would you say the nightfox 110r is better visually better than this or about the same?

    • @nightfoxnightvision
      @nightfoxnightvision Před 2 lety +2

      Hey Extreme Zoom, the 110R has higher magnification than the Cub (7x vs 3x), so the field of view is better on the Cub. However, both units have the same resolution and power output. I hope this helps!
