    Thank you, very helpful, just serviced my PF4500UV with the help of your video. The manual differs slightly from the video instructions:
    the clear hose piece is recommended for the inlet pump in the manual, and the black one is shown as the hose outlet back to the pond. The rationale is that you can see if the inlet pump is getting clogged with algae.
    The manual recommends turning the spin handle anti-clockwise 24-36 times to backwash, in the video it looks like you're doing it clockwise.
    Despite those two discrepancies, good video, cheers

    Thanks for this tutorial! We just purchased a pump that has much more water flow than our previous pump, i.e. much more than we need (in our setup, the pump fills an upper pond that flows into a lower pond via a waterfall. The upper pond can overflow, leaking water). Does that flow diverter on the top of the filter also provide control over water flow?

    I bought this unit (the largest one with UV) about 3 yrs ago. For the last two yrs, it's leaked slow and steady...cleaning it makes the leak worse. It now leaks so bad, i lose about 2 inches of water a day. It just steadily comes out of the UV upper section...the pressure keeps it trickling out. I paid nearly $500 for this unit and am very unhappy that it leaks so bad. Otherwise, it would have been a great unit.

    Good video... but shouldn't be touching a UV bulb with bare hands as it can damage the bulb and shorten its life.

    For the corrugated piping that attaches to the outlet and inlet nozzles on the filter...what's the best clamp? I'm using a single band clamp and it doesn't seem that great because it always wants to slip off the corrugation.

    Great demo of how to set up the filter and how it works however I am very very surprised you would tell people how to bypass the UV safety switch to see if the globe (bulb) is working. You should NEVER, NEVER look directly at the UV globe when operating unless you want to permanently damage your eyes.

  • @martinsmadhousemusic8329

    I have been researching all the available filters w/ UV light. I am beginning to notice that most of these are maintenance intensive and the additional cost seems to be built into the filter.. Replacement of filters, UV bulbs etc. plus the additional cost of hose and hose attachments. I'm not sure there is any value in buying an item for 400.00 and then continue to spend money on it. Although, planed obsolesce is genius..

      UV light is needed in all systems so not a uncommon probem what did break or is ir just leaking? There a lot of things to get rid of leaking

      The UV bulb must be replaced annually, as it actually loses UV output almost completely by the end of that year.

    Great video, thanks! What does the bubble on top of the diverter do? I have a similar unit and noticed there's a collection of green stuff, likely moss, building up on the bottom of it. Is that anything to worry about?

      I see no one has replied.. on my unit, it doesn't do anything .. methinks it's supposed to indicate back pressure when the filters are very dirty and should be cleaned.

    I am looking to buy an outdoor fish pond filter. Can you give me some advices about these 2 filters? How difference is this between the Fish Mate Pressurized UV+Bio Pond Filters and Fish Mate Gravity UV+Bio Pond Filters?

    • @PondMAXAustralia
      @PondMAXAustralia  Před 8 lety

      +Hoai Nguyen Hi, A few points to consider would be that:
      1. Gravity feed filters as really something of the past, due to the nature of having to install them above the water line. This impacts it’s ability’s to be installed in a hidden spot around the pond area.
      2. Filters without an “easy clean function” become a chore to clean. As with all filtration, regular maintenance is mandatory to keep a healthy environment. If this become a regular chore, it may be missed in our busy lives.
      3. Also, Filters with only a back flush system, without an “easy clean function” sponge agitation do not clean the system efficiently, virtually rendering the cleaning system useless.
      4.Our filters come with not only an backflush, but full “easy clean function” agitation to assist the sponges to release the muck build us and only takes a few min on a regular basis to clean. One we had on Test for 3.5 years was never opened up to remove the sponges to clean them because we used the “easy clean function” on a weekly basis.
      5. Sticking to a born and bred brand in Australia, for example Pondmax, guarantees spare parts when the need arises.
      Please let our sales team know if you have any queries on sales@aquatecequipment.com. Thanks and I hope this helps.

    • @joeythefoxxo
      @joeythefoxxo Před 3 lety

      No. Since the system is pressurized, you would be met with a face full of pond water through the uv port. Always turn off your pump.

    I can't wrap my head around this, why is there no bio media filter....if i use this in a fish tank, they're going to get the same water that's pouring in it....just not the food (would be stuck on the sponges) this has to get smelly within a week.

  • @GarethWalton2

    I know you’re doing a demonstration, but it really bothers me when you open that waste water back into the pond, quite literally doing a wrong demonstration lol

  • @MFL92028
    @MFL92028 Před 4 lety +2

    BIG MISTAKE! You touched the UV bulb .. which is also quartz.. and may turn black where you touched it ... the bulb is very hot inside the quartz sleeve, and will react with your fingerprints, discoloring the glass, making it hotter and less transparent to UV light ... the UV light will now not clean your water, and may structurally fail inside the quartz shield, damaging the shield tube.

    • @joeythefoxxo
      @joeythefoxxo Před 3 lety +1

      I don’t think the failure would be that absolutely catastrophic. Yeah it may fail a couple months prematurely, but it really doesn’t turn black or explode. And it still produces plenty of UV.
