  • Nicowas, the baby Macaque, was brought to us at Animal Mama Veterinary Hospital & Pet Wellness Center after being rescued from a tourist spot.
We took him to Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center where he will stay until he is old enough to be released into the wild where he belongs.

Finally, Lori will always have food and clean water. She will have veterinary care for her injuries and won't be subjected to bullying monkeys. She'll also have the best shelter and bottles of milk. She and mom hit the monkey lottery. They deserve it. 🤗

    • @tenerifecats6652
      @tenerifecats6652 Před 5 lety +13

Most of the bullying was because the videographers obviously don't care how the other monkeys will react when they feed a baby while the others go hungry. There isn't any abundance of food for the Amari group in the visitor's center; and going into the forest where all the poacher's traps are...these groups we watch on youtube really have nowhere to go. The Amari group may not be 'chained up'; but for all intense purposes, they are 'outdoor pets' for the videographers. :p Very sad. I fight with the VO"s every chance I get, but nothing really changes. Even now, they are encroaching on Tima and her new baby; and they are still feeding high sugar content fruits to fat mommies; and they are still encouraging the food aggression by feeding lowers' in front of the higher ranking/males.

I'm so glad to know that there are sanctuaries for the monkeys and genuine people that love and care for them. But what is being done with the case of so many of these strange people stealing baby monkeys taking them home, dressing them and then posting ludicrous videos of the poor baby monkeys being abused.... I really would love to know is that legal in Cambodia, Thailand, and a few other Asian countries?

Have you tracked the ones released back into the wild to know how they actually do? I ask because I've seen so many videos of these monkeys brought back to the wild and they have a very difficult time. Most end up dead. I'm just sick of seeing people taking them when they're babies for a pet and dropping them back off once they are older. They need to be with their own kind their entire lives. Thank you for the work you do!.

The 95 down votes adds up to just about all of those involved in the V.O. ring that have been maiming monkeys for views and causing drama at Angkor Wat. They hate this vet because she refused to give them back a baby monkey that they crippled and brought in to her clinic (while filming the drama the whole way). The woman is a sharp professional, and was immediately suspicious of their story and motives. I'm happy to say she turned that animal over to WLA also because they are better equipped to provide the life time care that the animal will now require. The people at that clinic are stellar in my opinion and deserve the highest praise we animal lovers can give them. I sub'd and I'm a fan

Do those contacts still apply? I mean will they still accept macaque orphans? The little girl currently at Phnom Bros is dressed up and made to perform daily for the cameramen. Its like they refused babies right before her mom died in child birth. While I can't blame them for wanting to save her, she is becoming more emotionally damaged each day by people who equate primates with humans. Its so incredibly sad.

I can only partly agree. Yes, it´s true that basicly monkeys are wild animals the genes don´t change. But it depends on the age of the monkey and how you keep it. First of all the monkey is not allowed to be kept alone. It´s absolutely necessary to have a partner of its art, too. It means a female and a male one. So it knows it is not "alone". Then you have to offer them possibilities to jump and climb and special primate food, fruits and vegetables. So are monkeys. It´s true that they don´t have to be kept in appartments. Here I agree. But if you follow very strict conditions they can become very adorable pets. And they won´t have psychological damage. This is my opinion. Besides the owner must have a certificate of general knowledge.

Yes it is. Her name is Dr Julia stenkat she's a vet qualified to treat primates one of 3 in Cambodia. Amy was confiscated as the vet was concerned for the monkeys welfare. It spent 10 days in the vet practise for tests xrays bloods and treatment. Then it went to the WLA. This was the first and last time thst the camera men took an injured baby monkey to a vet. She very politely told the 10 or so cameraman not to video in her surgery again. There's a very good video of all of this.

My first visit to this video post. How old are the monkeys before they are released into the wild? I came upon a uTube Channel > Monkey Dalton & have been watching for several weeks. I am Mainly concerned about what will happen to Dalton, Mou Mou ( 10-11 mos old?) & Yen ( 3-4 mos old?) & how long they keep the monkeys before releasing them into the wild - alone & unable to fend for themselves since they have been with humans who fed them & took care of them. Please respond & find some way to take care of these innocent monkeys who have brought such joy to me and others watching their daily antics. I have not seen abuse to-date, but some non-abusive disciplined actions. Owner has recently taken Dalton out to a desolate area for training for future release but the poor monkey loves his Mom & Dad & home. He is too young to be released in the wild - in my opinion. It is important for me and I'm sure others watching - that these
Precious monkeys will have a happy future. They deserve it. Thank you for your reply. Sincerely,

Diapers were not made for animals no matter how we try. I would put a diaper on my smaller dog and if she couldn't get it off her big sister would help. Not to mention how expensive they were. I came across a bathing suit size 0-3 months. I actually found them at the dollar store. I would put the suit over the diaper and adjust the shoulder area and it usually worked. We were staying at my mother's for a bit and she insisted on diapers so....

Yes I know of many animals in distress .... Every single one that continually taunted and hounded by those groups who upload all their "baby monkey" videos to CZcams. I came across my first one by chance and it was a nice video of a relatively newborns interaction with its mother, but after I looked into the various channels a bit it was clear to see that these animals are just continually being harrSsed..
I realise they are not human and I don't have any soppy or sentimental speech to give you about them being sentient beings with intelligence, but the fact that these people hound them, even when the animals make it clear their space is being invaded, and they keep shoving cameras in their face and if they run away they drip, feed them food ... It's horrid actually.
I realise attitudes are different in the third world and something as simple as hours of footage of macaque interaction they can upload to CZcams with click bait titles is really a lot like, I dunno, a first world country just finding out they have huge crude oil reserves ... It's a resource there to exploit. And that's all this is. Exploitation. I'm sure this is also a debate that could be taken up with CZcams as they give the real incentive by monetising their bloody videos. I'm sure you're aware that these video franchises exist and are probably powerless to do anything but I'm not in Cambodia and I just wanted to actually vent my frustration a little.

To Dovetail. I personally believe that there are means by which some explotation is inevitable. So for example, this park area is a monastery with beautiful Buddhist iconography. it cringes me to see these monkeys shitting and pissing on these statues, I accept it on a personal level (like there isn't much I can do anyway lol). I also respect that people that sell refreshment and perhaps some monkey food items should be allowed to make a living, keeping in mind that this area is also for dogs, people, etc, but somehow the monkeys are allowed to exploit the area...
i don't like the VO's. They do not have a few, people like Sochun, who care about the animals, rather it is a pile on. So they fuck up the troupe, make it so no group can make a decent go of it, respecting the monkeys in the process... and they encourage "events." These are stubborn people. The authorities had to come in and force them to give lori and Amari up, they would still be doing the same vet routine otherwise, shooting Lori up, etc. These people have been involved in some sketchy shit, possible poisonings, etc... So I have come to believe they are not a good thing for the groups.

I have to say thank you for your lovely response! :-) I could not agree with you more actually! :-) Well put ... and you're right about the heritage of the area, I literally had no idea that this was once such prominent religious grounds with beautiful old buildings (well, mainly ruins now). I know that if this were the case in some western city that the grounds would be protected for their cultural and historical significance. I am not religious myself but I can appreicate history and this is just a waste.
Granted, I am a newcomer to this whole 'baby monkey' franchise on here and I will admit that I did watch a few of the videos where the baby ones lose their shit and throw tantrums, or maybe were kidnapped and were trying in vein to get back to their mothers, and I did have a bit of a laugh. But when it dawned on me that there is this endless supply of these videos, and in many of them the VO's are actively and constantly chasing monkeys that are trying to get away from them, the only reasonable conclusion to make is that these people are harrassing them constantly for their footage which is destin to get them a decent amount of 'views' when uploaded. I can't condone that because ultimately they will know what gets the higher view counts are those videos that are shocking in nature (such as I have seen just recently with hours of footage of a mother macaque carrying around the body of her dead infant that had just recently been run over - I believe they use the name Polly). If I had more faith in humanity I might just believe that these people are posting all this footage for the public to watch because they have a genuine love for these wild creatures, but unfortunately I have a highly developed 'bull shit' meter built in to my brain and it's obvious that the viewer count on their uploads is far more important than any respect for nature. There is so much footage, do they even have jobs or is money made from these videos their income?
I also kinda feel like it's a waste of breath too, especially with these Asian countries and their failure to understand cause and effect when it comes to environmental issues. Education is also important too - like with China and the whole ivory trade. Change can't happen overnight unfortunately because there is still a large co-hort of people who don't believe their little ivory ornaments are that big a deal. The younger generation with their expsure to all the conservation messages out there do get it so unfortunately you have to wait for the old generation who are stuck in their ways and still think ivory is a status symbol to die off. Hence why it takes so long for change to happen.

Well said, I agree with you & wish more people would see that the VOs are exploiting the monkeys, but some deluded people think that the VOs are saints & care about the monkeys, If they took off the rose coloured specs & got out of Fluffy Bunny land they might see the disturbing truth

They were relocated to Phnom Bros Kampong Cham and then onto Taomao Zoo where they are now. Pig tails are a protected species. They are being moved to their own troups and not a hybrid group as they were originally. Video exists if them at Phnom Bros Kampong Cham. Google visiting monkeys to Phnom Bros Kampong Cham. You'll find them thete before they wete moved.
