@Mister Guy Not exactly a winning position, he had several opportunities to stand up as a boss, instead he decided to stand in a neutral position between NY and NJ, then when his position was doubted he would consciously generate conflict between them (the "your brother billy, whatever happened there" comment to phil) to then once again act as a catalyst for peace between them. In the end, he had the power to control both families.

It's funny because it's an immediate contrast. On the one hand Junior has sympathy for this man he doesn't know on television losing at a game. On the other hand Junior has no problem plotting the death of a man he knows personally, directly afterwards. He sees nothing out of order. Which is hilarious.

They talk about business way too easily when the feds know that Junior is under house arrest. So any time that Junior happened to go out you know the Feds would want to plant a wire in there since they would know that if Junior had to talk business it would probably be there.

HOWEVER the dialogue exchanged between these two in this scene actually shows how people with this disorder think. As an aside, to my recollection only TWO characters in the entire series who were outside the family, TRULY got an insight into the psychotic/selfish mindset these "people" (was gonna say "men" but the women were just as guilty) were capable of...and lived!
1. Dr. Melfie whom in the penultimate episode FINALLY relinquishes Tony from her "care" as she has the epiphany she's actually ENABLING Tony.
2. The Young Asian Male Patient at the halfway house who admired Junior as a surrogate "Father Figure" and who like Melfie has an epiphany when he realizes Junior's kinship/affection toward him is merely based on what the young man can provide for him. Nothing more; and like Melfie he reacts at the realization of being cond/swindled..but uses his fists!

I remember the guy who wrote that part of Ralph making fun of John's wife and it blowing into a huge ordeal had trouble figuring out an ending to it. As I recall, at one point he told one of the other writers/producers/whatever that he thought that he had written himself into a corner. The guy he was talking to told him to keep at it and that it's been a great storyline.
Who would have thought back then that this storyline would keep going and going until damn near the end of the series.
I remember watching that episode of Who Wants to be a Millionaire when I was little. My family and I used to watch it religiously.

Carmine was ridiculed throughout the series for not being an intelligent person and its true. But one thing, he sure was the wisest of them all, to get out of the game in one piece...

As much friction these two had throughout the show, these two loved eachother but wouldn’t admit it because of their ego. Tony was the son Junior never had and its implied Junior was more of a father to Tony than Johnny ever was. His own fawtha’s brudda!

There’s something morbidly endearing about how Junior praises a pack of killers to his nephew with a smile on his face, like he is talking to him about a football team or a brand of cars
They should have never made Junior have dementia. He always had the best dialogue lines when he was mentally astute.
It was an important part of the overall arc -- once Junior was mentally gone and these conversations could no longer take place is when Tony really starts making bad decisions and then it all falls apart
I really enjoyed them too. He sort of took us back to the old mob days in 50’s and 60’s.
