Playing as a Guardian that can't be possessed by malice will be fun on some levels. Dodging enemy attacks I imagine will be a bit difficult though.

Most likely closer in playstyle to the Great Fairies where they want to keep distance and attack from afar. I forgot how close the release was so at least we'll find out very soon.

There is still a chance, they didn't show everything mentioned in the last dlc announcement. This could mean 3 characters for the first wave. Then what three may we get in wave 2?

Wave 2: Astor, Sooga, Harbinger Ganon(?)
I feel as if one wave will be focused on heroes and one will be focused on villains.

Not really, the Master Cycle Zero should have stayed exclusively to Link only. It's his own divine beast for crying out loud. But other than that, the DLC looks real sick and incredible.

I could not have asked for a more hype character than playing as a God Damn Guardian.

@@jimbodeek Basically JUST a little guardian scout. Not hating on terrako, but everything from the quick fire lasers but also the big charge one, as well as the ancient weapons, is extremely similar to them.

Normal difficulty is already too hard for me in some levels
@@fettacheeze the hardest level I think is each step like thunder just all the bosses and mini bosses made it pretty hard to manage health in very hard practically was on a half heart on every character

I know you're making a joke, but the game is not a prequel. A prequel has to actually precede the events of the established story (BOTW in this case), and alternate-timeline stories don't precede those events.
@@matthewmuir8884 we don't yet know if botw will take age of calamity into consideration. It could very well be a sequel to the new timeline of events, or possibly (if we are lucky) will tie the events of both stories together. I like the idea of getting more time with the champions. I actually think as a direct sequel to botw it would need to do something crazy to be interesting, as everyone is mostly dead in that timeline.
@@rikux27 I honestly would prefer if BOTW2 never so much as references Age of Calamity at any point, except maybe as DLC that I then wouldn't want to buy.
There are a ton of interesting things they could do to continue from BOTW, and there are plenty of alive people; we don't need the champions brought back to life by a tin Humpty Dumpty that was Koei Tecmo's OC do-not-steal character.
Now, if Age of Calamity had actually been a prequel like what was advertised, I would've been all for little references and such. But that's beside the point and I wouldn't have seen such references as necessary.

Everyone has their own taste of course. But I actually liked the age of calamity story.

Go back to the top comments of the announcement video and the first couple trailers and you'll see it flooded with people being *hyped* that the game was (supposedly) a prequel to BOTW. No one was saying an actual prequel would've been pointless, and in fact, many were making funny references to games like Halo Reach, Final Fantasy Crisis Core and Torna: the Golden Country: prequel games that received widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike. Incidentally, Halo Reach in particular literally had, "from the beginning, you know how it ends" as its tagline. Knowing how a story ends doesn't make it pointless.
People only started saying an actual prequel would've been pointless _after_ the game released, as a way to dismiss criticism of the false-advertising.
Also, the main reason that people complained about the game not being a direct prequel is that the game was advertised as being a direct prequel. They were upset at the false advertising.
Nintendo could've won if they had either been honest about what the game was or if they and Koei Tecmo had actually made a prequel.
You like Age of Calamity's plot? Good for you; I wouldn't want to take that away from you. But don't be so dismissive about the people that didn't like it. Please understand why I, someone who was hyped for an actual prequel, would want any references to Age of Calamity in BOTW2 to be optional DLC at most.
This expansion pass will forever be known as the game that tricked us into thinking it was the last announcement of the 2021 direct.

This wave adds extra challenges, while it seems like wave 2 will include full-on levels(which I theorize will go over the events of botw's Calamity)

The release date they had was a place holder date. Just like the November DLC has one and when it gets closer to launch the actual date will be released
The guardian reminds me of the one we saw when breath of the wild was originally just referred to as Zelda Wii U, when we got a small clip back in 2014. It has the moss and vines on it, just like that one.

I'm confused about this too. Usually Nintendo release stuff after midnight in the time zone your switch is in. It's 9:25 for me and the DLC is still not available.

When I first saw this in the Nintendo direct some people seamed to care more about tears of the kingdom than this, but this is a master piece too.

The Guardian Would be perfect for the "Daily Drills:" Levels.
The regular guardian is so iconic you can't even be mad and act like it's a cheap pick.
Some quality of life updates, such as making it possible to expend resources to get specific seals on weapons, would be very nice.
Putting Zelda on the Master Cycle is a stroke of brilliance because it means she doesn't get left behind on the inevitable DLC powercreep and there's a reason to play as her as you get into the new content.
Plus Nintendo just knows me frustratingly well.
I actually remember the flail moveset. This is going to be awesome.

Same, but when I started thinking in my head after the Guardian became a playable character, I notice that I'm forgetting something.
Because of this, in the original Hyrule Warriors on Wii U; Cia, Volga, and Wizzro were unplayable characters when the game first came out, but later in few months or next year later, they became free DLC playable characters.
In Age of Calamity, same thing for Purah, Robbie, Sooga, Astor, and Harbinger Ganon that are unplayable. I'm pretty sure for my thought that all 5 of them will become free DLC playable characters, before or after Wave 2 release, or next year in 2022.

I thought we could maybe get a playable Lynel or even the three great dragons, but a guardian is not something I expected for some reason. Looks super fun, though!
Honestly I'd expect if there's enough demand we'll see more DLC packs with playable monsters. However a playable guardian makes sense cannonically, since well they were good before the Calamity, think of it like the Clone Troopers but as Robotic Octopi.
I hope that we can get more customization options for the champions and Zelda. Maybe the others too
