BioShock Soundtrack: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky -- Waltz of The Flowers

  • This song got stuck in my head, so I decided to upload it out of randomness. Anyway, this is a piece from the Nutcracker Suite, which was also used in a scene in BioShock where, out of sudden frustration, Sander Cohen sends some of his loyal splicers just to get rid of Jack, whom Cohen believes to be some jerk who doesn't like his art.
The one that came with the game was only a short one-minute snippet, so I thought of going for the gold and upload the whole piece, courtesy of the Moorpark Symphony Orchestra.

The fact that during this fight enemies are considerably weaker to melee attacks is just Cohen asking you to put your fancy weapons away and start to dance.

    "Smile! Smile!" =P
I love Tchaikovsky's music, ever since I heard it on Fantasia, magical and wonderful. Sometimes like with Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy it's Christmasy too.

I remember feeling so dissapointed after leaving Cohen's area. The rest of the game was still cool, but Fort Frolic was just so good.

I really wish there was an arena mode where you just fight splicers for as long as possible while this is playing.

One of the most memorable parts of the game. I expected Cohen to backstab me, but not so early.
Combine that with the desperation of fighting spider splicer after spider splicer, the delightfully twisted music choice and the odd grace of the whole affair, and this was the defining part of Fort Frolic.

Wait, so this is truly the version that they used in the game? That's very surprising, it's clearly a live recording, you can hear numerous people coughing and other background noise. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I am just surprised. incredibly moving performance, and an equally moving game :)
