  • Welcome to the Knuckleheads garage CZcams channel! For my first video on the channel I thought I'd start off with a tour of my mk 4 supra and some of the upgrades I have done to the car over the past 4.5 years of owning it. There are still things I have done to the car that I forgot to list in the video.
    For videos of this car prior to the GTE swap, check out my brother's CZcams channel here: / theexhaustnote

      Thank you! I managed to get this car before the latest insane explosion of prices on these cars. I ended up driving out to Tennessee and towing the car back. Was a grueling drive as I picked my best friend up who was living near Indianapolis at the time and there was major storms with golf ball sized hail about 20 mins north of where my best friend lived and I only got to get about 4 hours of sleep before I had to start the 10 hour drive back home LOL. Found it on craigslist near Nashville area, there's a gentleman in that area that's huge in the Mk 4 community and flips them a lot named Vu. He's a good guy and doesn't ridiculously price gouge. Keep an eye on that area or in the Facebook forums for cars for sale from Vu. Good luck on the search!

      Thank you very much! Was about to finish ny s23 kit install and then i snapped 2 bolts off inside the chassis and decided it was time to call it quits for the night lol. Just have to refill the coolant, fix those two bolts and do the exhaust and then its ready! Video soon to follow after that!

    Nice video and congrats on the Supra. I'm a Pa Supra owner as well. I'm about 45min northwest of Philadelphia. I have a few videos on mine but I haven't put any content out in awhile. I more or less just posted a few update vids. I'm subscribed so hopefully I'll see more content from you. Keep up the good work.

      @@knuckleheadsgarage4627 awesome! Maybe a detailed install vid? Turbo/exhaust sound differences. Power goals, dyno maybe? Parts list fer sure lol but yeah man excited to see what u turn this beauty into!

      @@SutokkuBoizu there are dyno videos of the street torque setup on my brothers channel "the exhaust note" (see the comment section) and i can definitely do a parts list video. I havent been detailing out the install, but ive done a couple minutes explaining what i was able to get done each day with installing this s23 kit. Ill compile those. Ill also be uploading an exhaust comparison between the street torque and s23.

    Beautiful Supra bro 👍, if u wanna do a 6 speed swap go with GRANNAS racing T56 magnum F , or if u want to spend 8k on V160 😂.

      Thank you very much! The grannas racing kit is 100% the goal lol. Getting married this year so all funds are going to the wedding so its gonna be at least another year until i can afford it but that is definitely the end goal!

After that, ill be sure to throw all my money at this car for more upgrades ;) future plans for the car are limited slip differential, grannas t56 kit, twin turbo brake upgrade, flex fuel / e85 fuels system so i can turn it up!

      Sorry I do not. I purchased this car through a gentleman that flips JDM cars and never got to meet the owner that painted the car in this color. I may take the car to Lowes or home depot someday to get the paint setup scanned. If I do I'll be sure to reply and let you know!

    Were you able to squeeze 600whp after the 1.0A/r , S23 and 4" exhaust on pump 93?

    • @knuckleheadsgarage4627
      @knuckleheadsgarage4627  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Unfortunately when i got the car onto the dyno, we weren't able to truly measure the horsepower the car was making. One of the lines to the wastegate was loose and wasn't allowing the boost controller to work properly. I can tell you that based on the boost levels that we were at, I was making about 30 more wheel horsepower at the same boost level as compared to the older turbo setup. I was at about 517 wheel horsepower at 15 psi of boost on the old setup so i'm estimating that i'm around 550 wheel horsepower now as the car sits at 15 psi. I didn't push the car any more than that due to the 5 speed transmission that is not known to be able to handle much more than i'm already pushing it. It probably could be pushed to 600 if i wanted to though.

    How’s the W58 holding up with the power? I am considering running mine for s while untill I can afford a t56 swap just hear all these horror stories of the w58.

    • @knuckleheadsgarage4627
      @knuckleheadsgarage4627  Před 2 lety

      So far, when I did the GTE swap I changed fluid to redline MT-90 and its has held up well! I don't really abuse the car, only get into it from like a 30 or 40 roll and it hasn't complained once! I also changed the rear end fluid to the same MT-90. From what I've seen, around 450 lb. ft. of torque is the "stay below" number and I'm just touching that level. I also plan on going to the t56 but not until next year unfortunately.

  • @charlesbish1
    @charlesbish1 Před 2 lety

    When are you swapping that trans to a t56?

    • @knuckleheadsgarage4627
      @knuckleheadsgarage4627  Před 2 lety

      Unfortunately the T56 swap is on hold for a while with the car. Have a wedding coming up this year and that has taken all spare funds LOL. Have some minor upgrades in place for the car this year but that T56 swap is a major expense I just don't have the funds for yet. For now I'll be very careful with the W56 LOL. Thanks for the comment!

    how much was it for stu hagen gauges if you don't mind me asking

    • @knuckleheadsgarage4627
      @knuckleheadsgarage4627  Před 2 lety

      Not at all! At the time i bought the cluster, the spare cost me 1000 dollars, the LED upgrade was 275 and the custom faces that i went with was another 150 so it was 1425 all together. Stu has a website where you can see all his options. See the link 97supraturbo.com/

    you need head studs

    • @knuckleheadsgarage4627
      @knuckleheadsgarage4627  Před 2 lety

      That was actually parts that I had arranged to go with the engine when I dropped the engine off at Freed Engineering to replace the head gasket and also install ARP head studs. I was told no need to take the head off as it is more likely to bend a connecting rod than blow a head gasket and that isn't a problem until around 7-800 lb ft of torque. Nearly double of what I am running right now. I ended up giving the studs to my buddy Eric that helped me out immensely with the swap as he had his original TT 6 speed supra's engine completely refreshed. It is definitely an upgrade I plan on doing after i have the T56 swap done and the fuel system capable of turning it up. For now, I don't abuse the car all that much and I don't anticipate any problems due to the OEM head bolts.
