This is Project Import's track-focused Twin-turbo Infiniti G35. The entire car has been stripped for track work, with advanced suspension setup, full aero package, and lightweight wheels with sticky tires. But most importantly, it packs a twin-turbo kit which doubles the stock power output of the VQ35 Engine. It's a monster.

Yea badgeless and smoked. To me takes away from the look. Debadging a luxury brand vehicle doesn't look good.
+TheMiata As an owner of a G35 Coupe with a 6 speed, it is the farthest thing from luxury. This is a longer 350z. Mine is debadged and the tail lights are tastefully smoked. It looks great without any chrome badging on it.
The tow hook, painted black rims, carbon hood, over sized spoiler got me saying ehhhh... i still love the car. do you want you want, not what others think is good.

The Motordyne Shockwave is by far the best. That is the sound you are hearing.
It sounds the same as the HKS and ARK.. Tomei is the best.
In this video the sound is obviously Motordyne Shockwave. You must be tone deaf. HKS has a pipe size of 2.36 inches. Motordyne is 2.5 to a progressive 3". Larger pipes equal more flow, louder sound. They do not sound the same at all. Tomei is half the cost of Motordyne and it is not a true dual exhaust. It is a single exit fart can looking thing with drone. Motordyne has no drone or rasp and uses helmholtz resonators to control the pulse wave.
Yea they copied the hemlholtz resonators HKS used 4 years earlier..

Timeless. Still holds up today. Infiniti never evolved it like BMW does. They never upped the horsepower or came out with track editions.

This is one of the first VQ engined cars that actually sounds good. Nice track build. Not for me, but can really respect this car for it's capabilities.
A question though: what is the proper etiquette for the canyons when a slow car in front doesn't want to move over? If you hang back too far, they don't get you want to pass, if you ride their ass flashing your lights, they get pissed and brake-check you. Frustrates me to no end...but perhaps up here in Canada we just have especially entitled drivers....
VQs can sound amazing with equally length long tube headers
AccAkut1987 never heard one with that kit so cant say, just that all the ones I have heard are just a lot of droning noise, nothing else. This one, however, is starting to sound good....pleasant surprise.
IMO the holy grail to get in terms of VQ engines is the version they used in the Formula Renault V6 Eurocup. 480 bhp N/A, revving to 9.5k rpm. I saw a car powered by this engine at a hillclimb once, sound was unreal. Its like the modern version of the 4AGE Formula Atlantique. Put that into a sleeper G35 or 1st gen 350Z...

Steve Acone couldn't agree more. I picked up an 08 g35 sedan 6mt a year ago, which I love, but It has exposed me to one of the most idiotic groups of people I have ever come across.
I dont really understand the intrigue with these cars, this one was awesome and unique, totally different. But like in general, what is so cool about a G35/7/s ? I respect people's car choices and stuff, but all these G cars seem exactly the same to me. "nissan V6 usually automatic" It is hard for me to see what about that people are so excited about and what else they could possibly see of these cars on this show.

At least he and the owner re did every part of the engine instead of slapping a big twin turbo and blow it with stock parts

If I'm not mistaken, the DE was known for being oil deprived & throwing rods. That was fixed in the HR. Several Maximas & older 350Z's/G35's literally blew up racing me in my '08 350Z. You can safely throw plenty of boost at the later models due to the DLC coating on the piston skirts, PTWA in the cylinder bores, etc.

Back when it was new, the G35 was the standard for Italian fist-pumping Guido/Guidettes from Staten Island that invaded the Jersey shore in the mid-2000s...preferably in white.
After hitting the used-car market, they were quickly scooped up by "enthusiasts" ready to rebadge them as SKYLINEs.
Damn, nice car. I would maybe change the exhaust and blow-off valves to sound a bit better, but still. Mad, Japanese and well tuned.

Id honestly never go with a VQ since its such a short stroked short block engine its hard to get the power i would be looking for without tearing it down to the crank bearings, but i respect the people that do, these engines simply sound incredible 👌
