    I run the Streamlight RM1 at 12 o’clock on my 11.3” home defense setup and it’s just bright enough for CQB. It’s a good light but, I don’t think I’d buy another one. I was interested in the RM2 and I think I’ll pick one up. Great video.

    The protac HLX only has a 23 hour battery life if it's set to low.
    When it's set to high using it's full 1000 lumen power, it's 1.25 hours, close to the TLR RM2.
    Otherwise, great test. Very informative. Only thing id like to see is the side to side length of their beams, and strength at the widest angles away from the center.
    Also, did you move the light stand at all between the two shots at 4:20?

    • @mrbgpati
      @mrbgpati Před rokem +1

      Exactly what I was going to say. The HLX actually has a shorter battery life on high

    • @At3tactical
      @At3tactical  Před rokem +1

      Exactly right! I think there are 4-5 different tests we can develop from this preliminary experiment that can start to pit all these light options against each other in a low variable, repeatable, test. (Battery life at different settings, beam angle and spread, intensity at distance, ... the list goes on!) As for this test all factors, including height/distance from target, were exactly the same for both lights.

    • @mghegotagun
      @mghegotagun Před rokem +1

      @@At3tactical Thanks. In that case the TLR RM2 does have a nice advantage in illumination width in that shot at 4:20. That could be a subject of testing for other lights.

    Very cool video, can't wait to see the next, I basically say oh more lumens! The better but that's not the real deal, I guess?? I actually have no idea what lights to buy for what weapon...pistol, rifle, etc 🤷

    I have a Streamlight with red laser on my 300 B/O. I love it. I couldn't say which one it is but it does what I need it to do. I also have a Sightmark light/laser/IR on my 556 with an IR scope. Its bulky and gets banged on quite a bit. I may upgrade to the Streamlight that has IR capability based on the compactness.

      Thanks! Got quite a few ideas for some legitimate testing and this one shows promise for even more tests down the road. 👍. Unfortunately, I've got my pans in far too many fires these days to have time for a tank, but I keep my eyes on the hobby still.

      I sold my 90% restored 65 Mustang to start my saltwater addiction. At the time I had too many pans in the fire, myself. There are times I miss ole' Frankenstang but then I look at my two tanks, the fish and the growing corals and feel like I made the right choice. Now that Im putting more focus and time into my "bang bang" I'm eyeballing my guitars, RC flying, and 3d printing to figure out which one will go to free up space, time, and funds. The struggle is real. LOL Good seeing you on youtube. I'm following and learning.

    The Streamlight ProTac hl-X 23 hour has got to be on the low setting. Because It only gets 1.2 hours on high by what they say if you are using the big battery with the flashlight on high setting. The candela drops down to 21,000 using the 123 batteries but the run time is 1.5 hours on high setting.
    I don't know about the other flashlight, because I don't own one.
    The Streamlight brand tends to give you the best bang the buck, while still being a quality made light in my opinion.
    Though other higher cost brands can give you a better spot they don't seem to be any better in durability from the videos I've watched and the prices are alot higher for a relatively small improvement in performance.
    Now Olight might be another lower cost option too, but I have no experience with that brand.
    This is just my opinion based on videos comparisons and my experience with streamlights that I've owned
    , not all streamlights, just the ones I've owned.

    i have put about 2000 down on this build im doing, 95% "premium" parts, but i cant justify spending $400 on a light setup. The value of the product just isnt there for me. what exactly am i paying for? i ordered an HL-X. $100 out the door and lights up good enough for me.
