Claustrophobia is an irrational fear of enclosed spaces. People who suffer from this condition tend to avoid areas such as elevators, tunnels, subway trains, and public restrooms. The fear can cause mild or severe anxiety, and even panic attacks in some individuals. However it is believed that avoiding these spaces may actually worsen the fear. So if you're looking for a safe way to conquer your fear of enclosed spaces, without actually having to enter them this video may or may not help you!

I never understood why people still do super risky things despite having a wife and kids that you'll likely leave behind forever.
Selfish. It's like people who use drugs and drive drunk with a wife and kids at home..
Some people find this feeling in drugs some find it in things like this... They are exactly like a addict they know it's gonna kill them or put them in danger eventually but they can't stop doing it for the feeling it gives
@@maveryk
Nice sweeping generalist statement. I guess you feel the same way about people considered "heroes" who risk their lives, despite having a family? Firefighters, police, military personnel, medical professionals, etc.
Just sit down and chill. Maybe be more specific next time instead of insulting an entire population of people that all do different things for different reasons. Intent plays a big part in a lot of this.
Also yes, I can assume you meant specifically people that do things like caving and such, when there is no intent to do good such as rescue or inspection of endangered species or something, that would "balance the risk out." When the intent is purely for the fun of the individual. However, that's not what you said, so I'm going to take what you said at face value.
I think a lot of these situations are too variant to judge, since many do these things due to mental illness, not truly feeling the consequences of their actions prior (such as what happens with teenagers a lot), or the few who do these things because they're addicted to thrill of it all. Whether it's morally "right" or "wrong," it's not for me to say.
I do feel horrible for the families of people lost to things like this. I do believe that risk is necessary for progress, and new things get found by accident all the time. However, once you have people that are dependent on you for things like living, emotional support, parenting, whatever, it becomes a lot cloudier. If you're just caving for the thrill, then the risk really doesn't make sense to most people. It doesn't to me.
Accidents like what happened to the dude getting stuck happen because of overconfidence or arrogance in some cases. Midjudging a situation or other human error is common. If we can't trust ourselves to guarantee our safe return, then to me, it isn't worth it unless you're risking things for the safety of others or something like that. If you're someone who needs this level of danger to feel alive, then having a family may be something you give up on or don't do, as the responsible compromise.
@@ElysetheEevee "I guess you feel the same way about people considered "heroes" who risk their lives, despite having a family? Firefighters, police, military personnel, medical professionals,

Bold generalisation on your part to suggest anyone thinks first responders are the same as thrill seekers when those are clearly different. A firefighter goes to work knowing they risk their lives to save someone else's. A thrill seeker go do dangerous stunts for fun and *risk the firefighter's life to save their own*.
But it's a balance. Somewhere between "clearly reckless and stupid stunts" and "safe, mundane activities" there's a grey zone where opinions on wheater or not something is too dangerous for it's value vary wildly, and we all have to live with the fact that some people will think us reckless/boring or even stupid/killjoys. No need to get upset in either direction for that.
Why try to squeeze through a space that you clearly can't fit through ffs
hey now stop making sense.
I thought the same thing.
like me and ur mum
@@matthewp9156 Been there, no chance of that
I WAS FREAKING OUT WITH THAT😢😢😢😢
nothing annoys me more than a guy who doesnt know when to back off a challenge . know your limits man , no one wants to see you get yourself killed nor do they want to be the one who couldn't save you
Oh no, im getting stuck ... Let's push forward !
😂
Sometimes there isn't enough room to turn around
As a first responder, my job is to save life.
But it always crosses my mind when I retrieve a dead body from a scene that is so PREVENTABLE.
I don’t understand people that do shit like this and then suddenly 100 people are there to rescue them putting their lives in jeopardy as well.
When all of the world's NOPE assembles for one video
NOPE, NOPE & NOPE!! Hell, as an asthmatic I value EVERY breath that I am able to take! Can't begin to imagine being so compressed that I couldn't breathe.😮
I worked with search and rescue in my area for a while . I know the severity of this situation. And it made me sad. I know what those folks went through. I was with a crew looking for a father and son hike team. We found the father he told us his sone fell down a rock face. When I heard the sons voice yell out I'm here I'm here . Then I saw him bearly . I kept talking to him until I reached him. When I did to my horror and sadness the boy was deceased. I had to quit the next day. I will never forget what happened. It still haunts me.
So anxiety inducing just watching this, the thought of putting oneself in these positions is unbearable. Can safely rule caving out of my list of things to try.
Here in the US you would have someone tailgating you while you drive through the cave lol.
The only cave I have “explored” was the one in Kentucky, border of Indiana. It is extremely wide open and halfway through (about 2hours) there is a cafeteria. It is call Mammoth Cave and is over 400 miles.
Other than that I am not getting wedged in any cave. And underwater caving? Forget it. Drowning or wedge and drowning. Nope I’m good 😮
I once went into this huge hole in the ground in the desert outby Meridian. Idaho. If I recall, I think the place was called the Crystal Caves or something. From what I've heard, they pulled the metal ladder up and closed it off so people can't go down there anymore. People used to party in there. After the initial "room" which was a huge cave area, there was a tunnel that got smaller and smaller. At the point where I had to squat to get through, I called it off. I wasn't going any deeper. Had a heavier-set friend that wanted further, so she squiggled herself down until she was lizard crawling through. I honestly don't know how she didn't get stuck. It was so narrow. I was thin back then. My fat, old ass would absolutely get stuck now. Scary.
@@ElysetheEevee Yea that is me now too 😂 Was very thin but still wouldn’t get myself stuck in some of those caves. Now I just can’t fit. 😂🤣
I agree ☝️ 😂😂😂
Exactly! Screw cave diving and narrow caves like that in general, I don't care how pretty it may be in there, there's still pretty sites I can see when I'm not wedged in tiny spaces
Love Mammoth Cave, went on multiple field trips there as a kid, and my kids now have as well. It's the longest cave system in the world by over double. It's also not on the border of Indiana at all, it's actually slightly closer to Tennessee than Indiana, hence why Tennessee schools take field trips there.
How is the fear of enclosed spaces "irrational"?
Right? Fear of spiders is irrational..not claustrophobia
Irrational means you hold the fear to an illogical degree, which is the difference between normal fear and a phobia. It's irrational if you're so afraid of enclosed spaces that they make you uncomfortable even when there's no discernible threat.
@@GigaLigmaFacts. I freak out even when its easily solveable. The enclosed space is the trigger so not even escape is soothing to hear. We still freak out.😅
IKR??
It isn't necessarily the fear that is "irrational;" it's the severity of the fear. A true phobia is disruptive to peoples' qualify of life. People love the throw around the word "phobia" when they're talking about general fears of things, but an actual phobia is terrible.
It may be something as simple as being afraid of moths to the point where seeing them on TV causes a panic attack. It can be something as severe as someone having such a fear of technology that they never leave the house for fear of being around specific things. There are many different phobias and many ways people suffer through them and the severity of which they affect an individual.
The main point though, is that one of the defining traits of basically all phobias is that the specific fear goes beyond what any typical person would experience, and causes disruption to a person's typical existence in some way.
Cave diving/ crawling is like playing Russian roulette. Cant logically look at either as a great time.
This is why you don’t go fucking caving!!!!
It better be a big ole open cave if my ahh is going in😂😂
No way in hell I'm watching this... more scary to me than any 'ghost/demon' video... bye bye!
You can do it. I believe in you
This is real REAL REAL shit Thats why😂😂😂😂
A ghost/alien/demon might get me but I might be able to run away or fight. There's no escaping or fighting a million tons of earth once it's on top of you.
@@PerogiXW your not in the cave though
Face your fear you coward😂😂😂
Oh it's getting tighter... Let's move forward even more 😊
I will never feel sorry for ppl who do these things KNOWING how dangerous it is. Especially if they have a family.
I had friends who liked doing not just cave exploring but urban exploring as well. I never attended any of their exploration because something sinister might occur and it did.
Way to leave us hanging
Do tell
At least elaborate! 😢
Bro you can't just drop a statement like that and then piss off, what the hell! 😂
@@FanksCast Sorry! I don’t wanna reveal more of this horrible experience!
my anxiety is kicking in. Lool 😅I need to go outside
That's where the danger is
Thats exactly how i felt watching this video😂 i had to walk out my room😅
Thank you for the update, Top5s..!! Scary stuff..!! 3:28 I have never seen that cave driving footage until today.
Awesome upload,as always. Thanks 👍
that movie about the caver John made me cry so much, the director did a great job, it is like your right there with him.
Yeah, nah, nope, not doing it!
I'll never understand how caving can be so exciting. It's terrible. It's icky too! Then again, I won't force people to understand why I love bungee jumping so much. 😬
This had me on edge from the start. Another great video 😊
This has got to be my favorite CZcams channel ❤❤❤❤ love his voice
Not irrational. There's a very good reason people are scared of places like that.
I’ve gone caving but if I can’t fit, turn around and go back
Missed you so much ❤
I miss u too ❤
I miss you, three ❤
missed you four ❤️
3:20 ah yes, the incredibly challenging and claustrophobic sport of cave *driving*
I grew up very close to the last story in utah, this story still gives me huge panic attacks because this is one of my worst fears. It was a very well known place to go to if you liked to be a bit dangerous because of how small the passages were
I live close by where this happened too and also watched the movie. I was so heartbroken for him, his wife and child on the way. I kept thinking they've got to do something to get him out. So so sad..
I like your videos! Next time you do an unsolved mysteries video, there is an unsolved case that haunts Evansdale, IA. The abduction and double murders of Lyric and Elizabeth. It’s a case that has been unsolved since 2012.
Wait! I’ve seen some of this before? Why are you guys re uploading so much??
“It’s getting lower. I feel like I’m going to get stuck” then continues to move forward 🤦♀️
This is when my curiosity goes into the morbid curiosity territory and I love it
OH HELL NO
That last video with those details, man, that would be so terrifying to be stuck like that…I mean that’s what nightmares are made of….I probably wouldn’t last more than a couple hours. Can’t stand tight spots..& just hearing about it,gave me the heebie-jeebies… Everybody’s different…what one person might consider terrifying.. and ridiculously dangerous, the next person? It doesn’t affect them in that way…Sad sad story 😢
SCREW DOING THIS! Any one here enjoy caving?
No sir! 😵💫
I have caved in Yorkshire many times. Specifically, Victoria cave and Mossdale caverns.
I have had a few close calls, more so from falling. However, my fellow caver was trapped in Mossdale in 2021. I managed to get out allowing me to call the emergency services. Mountain rescue turned up and he was free after 14 hours. It's a hella scary, but we still do it. 😂
HELL NO. I am completely uncomfortable watching this!
@@pencilpusher9166wasn't Mossdale that one where five guys got caught in a flood and drowned in the cave? I thought it was closed off.
Absolutely, positively nope!
This is a bit more than claustrophobia!!!! It's pure insanity
It's getting lower and he still keeps going forward!
I know one thing for sure. I'll not die in a cave.
Last one was just scary and tragic
Yup he was so close, almost made it out
and stupid
The last one, Mr. Jones, anxiety inducing AND heart breaking. R.I.P.
Literally heart-breaking.
Sorry, it's true though.
Caving vids are my worst fears lol
Abandoned Ranch/Demo Ranch!! Thar episode was awesome
Because of you, I watched the movie “the last decent “ nutty putty cave. How heartbreaking. RIP John. 💔💔💔💔
Oh, there's a movie?
Found it.
I couldn’t finish watching this. 😱
LMAO he’s like this stupid fucking irrational fear 🤣🤣🤣
I'm claustrophobic af but this video was weirdly instantly soothing to me because of your voice lol
A lot of the channels i follow seem to be uploading today its been a busy day
because it's friday/saturday so people have more time to watch youtube giving videos a higher chance for more views
You know what never goes wrong? A proper romp with Top5s on a Friday evening 🎉🎉❤❤
"Horrible Wrong" 😂😂😂
“ it’s getting lower “ as he moves FURTHER into the cave 🤔😑
Just hit play, anxiety already cranked up . 🥃😬
I would clearly die of panic in a place like this.
It took me almost a full day to get the guts to watch this! Not gonna lie, I was gasping for breath a few times through it.
Every caving tragedy is sad, but John's story always hits me because he was so close to making it out, and his wife and brother couldn't do anything but wait for him to pass. I've been claustrophobic from as far back as i can remember, so i dont understand the desire to be in these areas anyway, but especially not with a family at home.
That John Jones accident is nightmare fuel. I can't imagine much worse than that.
I was in a very similar experience about 10 years ago to first video.. A few highschool buddies and I went exploring a cave and had to crawl on our bellies... about 100 ft with 1 inch of space above our backs... Was very spooky but we made it all the way through luckily.
Thankful for your channel! ✌️
Omg how terrifying! I can’t watch!
I've experienced number 3
In a cave in Vietnam , extremely narrow passageway so you can't really swim 🫣
I could feel the panic creeping in just watching this 😅
This is terrifying
They should've listened to Townes Van Zandt.
"The old woman finally caught me
Sneakin' 'round her cave
Her hair looked just like barbwire, boys
And her smile just like the grave
She asked me could I stay awhile
I said I'd better go
She slid her arm around my neck
And sweetly whispered no
It's cold and dark and lonely here
As soon enough you'll see
I'm oh so glad you stumbled in
I've been cravin' company
I cannot stay too long you know
I left some friends at home
Don't you fret about your friends
Down here we're all alone
What about my mother
I can't just leave her there to mourn
You don't have to think about her
Just forget you were ever born
I'll disappoint my father
You know he worked so hard for me
If you have to pay your father back
Just send him some misery
I'll miss, I said, a girl I know
I can't just leave there to pine
She's still got plenty of men to go
I'm sure she'll do just fine
What about my little boy
She said, he's just like you
Let a few short years roll by
He'll end up down here too
Then her pale green eyes began to glow
She placed her hand on mine
She smiled and said don't worry
You'll get used to me in time
As her cold tongue flickered toward
I spun myself around
Made a dive for the passageway
But the walls come crashing down
Now her eyes were the only light
My fevered brain could see
But I tore myself away from them
And fell down to my knees
I've come too far, I can't get back
I beseeched the Gods of men
Fame and fortune just laughed at me
Then silence once again
A whisper deep within
Embrace the God of Love
I lifted my face and through the tears
I saw light fall from above
I hurled myself into the wall
I ripped and clawed my way
Through the stinkin', clingin' loam
Back to the light of day
I crawled out into the wind again
The sky upon my face
I heard the earth sigh patiently
As it slid back into place
Now I'm back among the ones I love
I'm loved by them in turn
And it's only on the darkest night
That green eyed memory burns
So walk my friends, in the light of day
Don't go sneakin' 'round no holes
There just might be something down there
Wants to gobble up your soul"
Oh my flippin goodness! 🙆 That thumbnail
No! No! No! 😫
In recent years I've got really bad claustrophobia, plus COPD, also im 6ft4" so this is is just setting off all kinds of bells in my head. 😮
I live in a 11th floor of an apartment buidling. Those 10 seconds in there is the worst part of my day lol
That first clip really freaked me out! i'm glad he got out ok but that was horrid! you will never find me doing this! i think i suffer from Claustrophobia as i went to download festival in 05/06 and getting out of the main stage at the end was a nightmare!
I'm not nearly claustrophobic enough to have to avoid elevators and such ... MRI machines? That's another story.
Idk wtf I was expecting clicking on this, but I got it and then some.
Ain’t the Guadalupe Resort anymore. The resort has been bought by Matt Carriker (Demolition Ranch) and is now the Desperado Resort, currently in development. The chapter labeled close call shows him in a blue wet suit with a backwards facing baseball cap. The cave in question was semi mapped but had some uncharted portion not marked so he invited several channels out to come explore it with him. I remember watching the video, was panicking a bit myself.
Im glad im watching this stuff... i have a 6 year old son. Im teaching him about peer pressure and why he shouldnt do stuff just because his friends say come on this is cool! No, u stay out side and wait or go home... preferably go home. Last thing i need is a call that he is stuck in a cave. Ill have a heart attack with the call alone.
Nope nope nope!!! Go on a cruise for an adventure. Caving absolutly not!!!
man that last one is so sad damn pulling him out only for a pulley to fail gezzz
I am suppose to feel bad, and maybe, I do for a second; but the stupidity of the actions and risk never seem to outweigh the reward on the other side. So I usually feel like they just win a darwin award
Nobody came to any of these people and forced them to do any of the terrifying things in video, It’s so weird, it’s always the married with a family ones that are very intent on doing these risky activities. This is why I couldn’t be with a man who loves the outdoors too much, because one day he might decide to do something crazy and I’ll never see him again
Jeeez, I actually had to stop the video several times and walk around and catch my breath.
Smartest guy I know.
That first video of Edward was fucking intense when he posted it! He is insane!! I love Adventure Twins!
I do have claustrophobia!! I was fine until i had to get an mri which I've had several before with no problems. But this time the guy velcroed me down to where i couldn't move a finger and ass i was slid into the machine i freaked out i started screaming get me out, get me out now!!! I'd never been velcroed down before and that ruined me from having mri's. Now they have to do ct scans but the guy trying to go through an opening with water set me off and i just can't finish watching it because i know what happens!!!! I even started having trouble breathing trying to watch it. So I'm stopping right there because i can go on. I know this sounds stupid but i just can't help it. Once he saw it was getting tighter he should have started trying to back out not go forward!!! I also have a fear of drowning, i know what's coming!!!
My heart breaks for the final one I just can't stop thinking about him that is so so terrible
There IS a difference between excitement and suicide. These people don't know the difference
I could never go into caves. I would rather be dead than do that
Can’t be afraid of getting trapped in enclosed spaces as long as you stay out of them in the first place 😛
Worst nightmare!! Give me serial killers, ghosts ~anything but this! I don’t understand why people do it!
Well, there's an irrational fear of enclosed spaces, like elevators, and then there's rational self-preservation of not burying yourself alive...
love all your videos...thought I could watch, but NO. I am extremely claustrophobic.....so sorry. look forward to the next one.
Bro the John one was tough
Ok the tunnel in China is wild!
I saved this video for AFTER my cave exploration.
hope you make it out alive.
Hops we won't be seeing you on one of these videos. 😬
A few years ago i went to Ruby Falls in Tennessee 1,200 feet underground in narry pathways definitely not something i would do again. Thankfully tho in emergencys it was a built in stairwell if elevator stoped working
I’m surprised you didn’t mention Floyd Collins and Sand cave.
Very first story had me gasping. I'm not sure I can continue the video.
Passssss..........
Wow. I got stuck in a cave once. Terrifying.
I honestly don't understand people who think it's fun to wedge themselves into pitch black spaces. "I can't see a thing and it's so tight in here that I can barely breathe let alone turn around! I'm having the time of my life!" o_O Nope, forget it.
I have the opposite phobia of wide spaces
I genuinely have no clue how the guys from Action Adventure Twins are even still alive.
Well if you don’t want pain don’t do painful things! Like everything else, sky diving, surfing 🏄, bungee jumping, cave exploration, and all that crazy crap! Expect the unexpected! 😉❤️
The only caves I’ve been in are guided tours. And those are scary enough.
