Met you the second day at the Les Indemodables stand. I was there for the store I work at. I stopped you and asked for a picture. You were super sweet and very nice. But I had the impression you were stressed/pissed. So I have been waiting for this video ever since😂

I guess it’s because those are small brands: they don’t have ppl dedicated to the public relations and they send somebody that is obviously not able to take care of it. There were brands who hired people to do that: tbh they were not knowledgeable about fragrances but at least they were nice to people 😁
The main reason I wish you’d share which brands treated you poorly is because I’d hate to purchase from any of them. Not knowing that they treat people terribly. Sometimes they need to be called out in order for them to do better
Same, I'd HATE to be supporting their business. On the plus side, most of the times I seek out new fragrances to try, it's something Gabby recommended. So, it's unlikely I'll end up supporting those businesses.

I am a content creator, and I registered myself as such for Esxence. On the first day when I came they gave me the badge "Fragrance Lover". Which, trust me, when brands were seeing it, no one, literally, no one, wanted to take their time ti reply to several questions I might have had, or tell me about their latest creations, etc. Let along leaving me some samples. On the second day I went to to desk at the entrance and requested to switch the badge to the "Content Creator", which they did, and it was a game changer.

I flew from another country to be there on saturday but after two hours of waiting in line, I left. They say "we did not anticipate this huge audience". I mean, everyone that shows up has to register for it online. Could they not see the amount of people beforehand? Is there not a limit??

Oh my gosh, I literally asked for the dates at work, made plans and went there for just the one day and it was really disappointing for someone who loves perfumes but is not a content creator or buyer and I found some brands and people that were kind of rude, I understand it was their 4th day and they were tired but I was so sad because I though I was going to see perfumers and creators and be able to chat but there was no interest whatsoever.
I think tbh the issue is on both sides . Some brands are just rude period, but most of them are extremely nice , but obviously when you see someone trying to steal something or their kids running around your very expensive bottles your would not be in the mood anymore.
Absolutely agree. And I also understand that at the end of the day, they are there for business and it can be exhausting to be around sooo many people but little naive me though I was going to be able to share some the love of perfumery and it was quickly a reality check that this wasn’t the place for it. I totally sympathise with the brands though, like you said standing there all day, people pushing and not always being nice, when you get to the last day, they probably just want to go home.

I was there Wednesday to Friday. It was my second time. I was there in June 2022. The weather was much better then! I had a great time this year! The event was much bigger than in 2022. You need good shoes! 😁 The restaurant was not awful. I ate some veal and fried potato things in nice company. And lots of Italian coffee! I knew the Saturday would be extremely busy. This year I was a designated “Fragrance Lover”. (Maybe you don’t approve! 😄) I loved that designation! My content is not enough (and my subscriber base isn’t big enough) for me to be called a “Content Creator” yet. 😉 Everyone I spoke to was very kind and friendly and gave me the time of day. I made some wonderful discoveries, which I will share soon. Hopefully what you experienced was incompetence rather than malice. Keep a spirit of humility, Gabby! 😊🙏
Finally someone who can explain the Fragrance Lover badge 😅❤️. If it was designed for smaller content creators that’s perfectly fine, everyone was just very confused by it ❤️

Then, when I picked up my badge in the press area, it said “Fragrance Lover”, and I was very, very happy with that designation! 😁👍 “Fragrance Lovers” like me had our own reasons for attending. Esxence is not just an exhibition for buyers and businessmen. ☺️🙏

It’s so typical for Italians to be disorganised. I’m Italian, so I know how frustrating it is. That’s why most other expos are held in Germany, as they are large and organised. No excuse for little seats and poor food choices, especially in the food capital of the world. I’m also not surprised to hear about the arrogance of some brands. My husband and I attended as Buyers. We have an online shop and would love to have collaborated with some of the brands represented. We literally had to beg for samples. A few booths were kind but tbh it was disappointing.

A very true review true to my experience. There were brands that acted very snobbish and condescending which are well known and don''t really need the Esxence exposure. As regards samples and bottles, i always kindly request the sample of the prerfume i loved the most or ask if they will be selling the partial tester or a full bottle, because some brands (particularly the ones outside Italy) find it hectic travelling back with the the full bottles or partial tester bottles.
I don't know how you get ready for these business meetings, but I assume you wear less makeup/have a more formal look? If not, then that was probably why some people, especially men, weren't taking you very seriously. I'm not saying it's okay, I just think people often perceive women with this sort of style negatively. I think a lot of fragrance people are also unfortunately pretty snobby and are even worse in this regard. That being said, there could also just be a random employee with a bad attitude? I wonder if you'll get an apology email from any brands after this
Man that really sucks. I'm only general public but even I think it shouldn't be open to us. Businesses and content creators face consequences if they're not on their best behaviour, entitled people that are only general public don't. There's honestly no excuse for a big expo to not have acceptable amenities for such a large expected audience. It's not impossible to source chairs or have better caterers even after day 1. Thanks for sharing the tea. I hope there will be a better planned event in the future. Not background checking buyers is ridiculous too. Really sucks for the exhibitors that got robbed.
I'm sorry you had a less than ideal time this year Gabby... sounds like they're very disorganized! They need help 😂 from the crummy food, poor visitor organization, security, timeliness... yikes. The location was brilliant, everyone was getting checked and there was security at the entrance so I think they did that very well. But… the badges for buyers were a joke , last day was just a nightmare and the problem that I had with the food that I actually forgot to mention: You would queue for 15 minutes, they would have literally no food left besides muffins, 2 minutes later they would bring a ton of food again , and you would have to queue again. I don’t understand why they couldn’t have a system in place where they bring in more sandwiches/salads as soon as they see that there are just 4-5 left…

Distributers and buyers (if they know you) are treated the best imo. Content creators it really depends on the brand and obviously how many followers you have. The brands that I work with were absolutely amazing, I can not say enough good things about them ❤️ Some brands are selling but I have no idea the prices . The last day is 100% hectic, if you really want to meet someone ( Tiziana Terenzi, Lorenzo Pazzaglia etc) then it’s worth it because they are all there

Some brands were probably feeling kinda suspicious about everyone because like you said, anyone could just claim to be a buyer and come in and then rob them. Unfortunately them clocking that you don't have an English accent probably made them put their guard up. I suspect it wouldn't have really been an issue if brands just had a way of knowing for sure that you were a verified buyer
That is such a shame that happens. It should not matter the status your visit after spending your money, your time, viewing, and reviewing information. Rudeness does not deserve anybody’s hard earn money.
When I was a buyer for my company (organic stuffs,) I faced that kind of condescending behavior from certains brands. Because I work with affect, I always ended ordering from the people with good social skills, people I like and wanna support versus douches.
I would not do business with rude brands. I won't even buy a sample from a brand or retailer if I have had a bad experience. Plenty of other places that are good where I can spend my money. It would also not surprise me that there are people there posing as industry people to steal... if the tickets are so easy to register for, and there are plenty of thieves in Italian cities.

Obviously this was not well organized and the sponsor failed to better regulate the behavior of the attendees. Having said that all I can say is welcome to the business world. It can be cruel especially for the uninitiated. The reality is you’re a new and not well established, player/buyer in the fragrance world competing with major buyers for attention from the sellers. I mean no disrespect. So you might understand that given the choice of talking to you or the buyer from Jovoy or Harrods, for example, you would regrettably be dismissed. Yes, definitely very rude. It happens probably too often. But don’t give up. One day you’ll reach that level where everyone in this business will know you for your acumen, success and professionalism with the sales numbers that will place you on the same level of a Jovoy! Hang in there.
It sounds poorly planned. Like they got a larger venue, but did not work out a good way to organize it. I hope that the planning committee learns and improves.

It doesn’t make sense… why don’t they have 5 days for content creators/ buyers, then have another 5 days for public and sell tickets with a maximum of ticket sales for each day. Sort of like buying concert tickets. As well as bag check on way out the venue to avoid theft. Seems poorly planned with very simple solutions! 🤔🤦🏻♀️. Hopefully every year they learn from previous years! And Everytime it will just keep getting better planned!

I'm still laughing as I wonder what sort of woman brings little children to an event like this. Those poor poor kids, they'd have been bored out of their skulls. I think it's an occasion where mum can enjoy some adult recreation and relaxation with her friends-- not Coney Island circa 1950. Leave the kids with grandparents, nanny or another mum who may not be into fragrance and so is happy to childmind for an afternoon. It's a bit like the 1990s phenomenon of taking screaming toddlers to the cinema. I cannot understand people making these oddball decisions which upset all concerned. By the way, I love these gossipy 'behind the scenes' chit chat videos. Not enough people have the courage and character to serve it raw and tell it how it is. Everybody hustling...

They should just start to sell limited amount of tickets for "general public"/fagrance lovers with names and no possibility to change the name in order to avoid re-sell for a higher price. It will also help them to organize a better service/chairs etc. It's so easy, why don't they do it.

I was there Wednesday to Friday. It was my second time. I was there in June 2022. The weather was much better then! I had a great time this year! The event was much bigger than in 2022. You need good shoes! 😁 The restaurant was not awful. I ate some veal and fried potato things in nice company. And lots of Italian coffee! I knew the Saturday would be extremely busy. This year I was a designated “Fragrance Lover”. (Maybe you don’t approve! 😄) I loved that designation! My content is not enough (and my subscriber base isn’t big enough) for me to be called a “Content Creator” yet. 😉 Everyone I spoke to was very kind and friendly and gave me the time of day. I made some wonderful discoveries, which I will share soon.
Hopefully what you experienced was incompetence rather than malice. Keep a spirit of humility, Gabby! 😊🙏
Finally someone who can explain the Fragrance Lover badge 😅❤️. If it was designed for smaller content creators that’s perfectly fine, everyone was just very confused by it ❤️
@@rbdvivi1 well, when I applied, the option was “Fragrance Lover/Content Creator” and I had to put the link to my website or social media (just CZcams and Instagram with only a few hundred followers now 😉). Then, when I picked up my badge in the press area, it said “Fragrance Lover”, and I was very, very happy with that designation! 😁👍 “Fragrance Lovers” like me had our own reasons for attending. Esxence is not just an exhibition for buyers and businessmen. ☺️🙏
@@rbdvivi1 no, it is not about the number of subscribers or followers. I have just under 9500 subscribers here on CZcams and I got the Fragrance Lover, my friend that I know with just over 1000 subscribers got the Content Creator. So I really wouldn't know what is the basis of the division.

I really wish you could tell us which brands these are so I will not patronize them and give them my hard-earned money! I guess my only question about these events is, for a fragrance lover, are they worth going to? Will the brands allow you to sniff to your heart's content or treat you like s**t? I'm a fragrance fanatic but what you described sounds like a total nightmare to me. If the organization is so poor, people so rude and it's so crowded and chaotic, that would probably take out all the enjoyment for me.

It’s so typical for Italians to be disorganised. I’m Italian, so I know how frustrating it is. That’s why most other expos are held in Germany, as they are large and organised. No excuse for little seats and poor food choices, especially in the food capital of the world. I’m also not surprised to hear about the arrogance of some brands. Keep up the good work. Can you also do a video explaining certain ingredients and how they play within a fragrance? For example benzoine. My husband and I attended as Buyers. We have an online shop and would love to have collaborated with some of the brands represented. We literally had to beg for samples. A few booths were kind but tbh it was disappointing.

A very true review true to my experience. There were brands that acted very snobbish and condescending which are well known and don''t really need the Esxence exposure.
As regards samples and bottles, i always kindly request the sample of the prerfume i loved the most or ask if they will be selling the partial tester or a full bottle, because some brands (particularly the ones outside Italy) find it hectic travelling back with the the full bottles or partial tester bottles.

I don't know how you get ready for these business meetings, but I assume you wear less makeup/have a more formal look? If not, then that was probably why some people, especially men, weren't taking you very seriously. I'm not saying it's okay, I just think people often perceive women with this sort of style negatively. I think a lot of fragrance people are also unfortunately pretty snobby and are even worse in this regard. That being said, there could also just be a random employee with a bad attitude? I wonder if you'll get an apology email from any brands after this
Man that really sucks. I'm only general public but even I think it shouldn't be open to us. Businesses and content creators face consequences if they're not on their best behaviour, entitled people that are only general public don't. There's honestly no excuse for a big expo to not have acceptable amenities for such a large expected audience. It's not impossible to source chairs or have better caterers even after day 1. Thanks for sharing the tea. I hope there will be a better planned event in the future. Not background checking buyers is ridiculous too. Really sucks for the exhibitors that got robbed.

The location was brilliant, everyone was getting checked and there was security at the entrance so I think they did that very well. But… the badges for buyers were a joke , last day was just a nightmare and the problem that I had with the food that I actually forgot to mention:
You would queue for 15 minutes, they would have literally no food left besides muffins, 2 minutes later they would bring a ton of food again , and you would have to queue again. I don’t understand why they couldn’t have a system in place where they bring in more sandwiches/salads as soon as they see that there are just 4-5 left…

Would you go again? I really want to go as a consumer but it seems hectic and if people are stealing and we can’t smell or buy then is it worth it as a consumer? It seems content creators were treated the best?
Next year it will be in February 🫠 . Maybe I will go again if some new /interesting brands are coming but for now I don’t think so.
Distributers and buyers (if they know you) are treated the best imo. Content creators it really depends on the brand and obviously how many followers you have.
The brands that I work with were absolutely amazing, I can not say enough good things about them ❤️
Some brands are selling but I have no idea the prices .
The last day is 100% hectic, if you really want to meet someone ( Tiziana Terenzi, Lorenzo Pazzaglia etc) then it’s worth it because they are all there

Some brands were probably feeling kinda suspicious about everyone because like you said, anyone could just claim to be a buyer and come in and then rob them. Unfortunately them clocking that you don't have an English accent probably made them put their guard up. I suspect it wouldn't have really been an issue if brands just had a way of knowing for sure that you were a verified buyer

When I was a buyer for my company (organic stuffs,) I faced that kind of condescending behavior from certains brands. Because I work with affect, I always ended ordering from the people with good social skills, people I like and wanna support versus douches.

I would not do business with rude brands. I won't even buy a sample from a brand or retailer if I have had a bad experience. Plenty of other places that are good where I can spend my money.
It would also not surprise me that there are people there posing as industry people to steal... if the tickets are so easy to register for, and there are plenty of thieves in Italian cities.

Obviously this was not well organized and the sponsor failed to better regulate the behavior of the attendees. Having said that all I can say is welcome to the business world. It can be cruel especially for the uninitiated. The reality is you’re a new and not well established, player/buyer in the fragrance world competing with major buyers for attention from the sellers. I mean no disrespect. So you might understand that given the choice of talking to you or the buyer from Jovoy or Harrods, for example, you would regrettably be dismissed. Yes, definitely very rude. It happens probably too often. But don’t give up. One day you’ll reach that level where everyone in this business will know you for your acumen, success and professionalism with the sales numbers that will place you on the same level of a Jovoy! Hang in there.

It doesn’t make sense… why don’t they have 5 days for content creators/ buyers, then have another 5 days for public and sell tickets with a maximum of ticket sales for each day. Sort of like buying concert tickets. As well as bag check on way out the venue to avoid theft. Seems poorly planned with very simple solutions! 🤔🤦🏻♀️. Hopefully every year they learn from previous years! And Everytime it will just keep getting better planned!

I'm still laughing as I wonder what sort of woman brings little children to an event like this. Those poor poor kids, they'd have been bored out of their skulls. I think it's an occasion where mum can enjoy some adult recreation and relaxation with her friends-- not Coney Island circa 1950. Leave the kids with grandparents, nanny or another mum who may not be into fragrance and so is happy to childmind for an afternoon. It's a bit like the 1990s phenomenon of taking screaming toddlers to the cinema. I cannot understand people making these oddball decisions which upset all concerned. By the way, I love these gossipy 'behind the scenes' chit chat videos. Not enough people have the courage and character to serve it raw and tell it how it is. Everybody hustling...
