You have got to love it to work on that rig.
Looks very close the conventional single i worked on for patterson. Other then the driller was postioned behind the floorhand. Altho we wore fire resistant coveralls hard hats and had a derrik hand.

I was on a laydown rig very very close to this one, except the kelley didn't have a a nifty little place to clamp the elevators on.. We had to hook it.. I hated that little rig.. Im used to a old school rig, but im used to a triple.. And im 6'5 that bottom bar on the derrick wooped my ass.. Not to mention the tremendous amounts of space I had to move around.. Ran 9 DST's on that little junker.. >< Fun stuff
The chain hand knows how to throw the chain , not like most of the videos I watch , they have the chain corkscrew up the pipe , you slap the chain down so its on top of itself . I worked a rig like that 1 month pain in the ass little double. no mousehole . my rig was stacked in the yard waiting on new permit .

don't rate it on the looks this thing moves every 3 days n there's only 2 hands n 1 driller on this rig. We do it all move our own equipment dig our own pads n pits do all mech work. All we need is some cementers.
I had my glasses on and the accident rate is zero. :) tripping pipe is alot faster

No offence but this rig looks scabby as hell man. It appears to be old drill pipe welded together. I hope it was at least manufactured by a journeyman welder... No Ppe, sketchy ass old lookin rig... Does it even have a diesel floor motor?

It's and old jacknife rig ...ran many a joint of casing off rigs just like this in the niagaran reef play in Northern Mi.in the 70's and 80's .....We had a blast
