  • The gen3 TSI Volkswagen Jetta GLI starting in 2013.5 has been a somewhat of a let down to the unsuspecting owners that thought it was the same as a New MQB GTI. Well just a few weeks after blowing my stock turbo, my custom hybrid turbo project had arrived. With the addition of methanol injection, JB1 tuner to log, adjust boost/ fuel, and control the water meth system... this GLI has found an extra 60 horsepower over a Full bolt on APR Stage 2 setup (269whp) Putting it right there with the rest of the Gen3 TSIs. I hope you guys enjoy the video, there will be plenty more throughout the year. The car is still missing minor better bolt ons, but it's made a great breakthrough nonetheless.
    Basics specs are;
    2014 GLI DSG. Hybrid Honeywell Garret MGT1752s Turbo with a billet 48/60 compressor wheel. APR Stage 2 Software stacked with JB1 & BMS Watermeth injection. 255/40r17 Bridgestone Potenza re71r.
    2015 Golf R. Custom MAP6 JB4, 3in intake, 3in downpipe, Manual Transmission.
    Both cars are Tuned By Joshua Colo Tuning of CTmotorsports.
    The Dyno and the races were done on the same night. Still getting use to the new GLI Power, it's a completely different animal. Dig races are on the agenda for next time. Thank you for watching.

    Interesting setup. Just bought a 19 GLI. At most I'll end up just doing a turbo back exhaust, intake, tune. Seems like it would likely make similar power to this setup. I went with the six speed manual though.

      MeltingRubberZ28 Yes, A new GLI will make around 320-340hp with the proper bolts ons. I currently have an IS20 turbo on this GLI. Went as fast as 11.92 at 114mph. Manual was a mistake in my eyes. You’re going to have to look into a clutch replacement once you’re tuned.

      @@PrzFinest21x I knew going into the purchase that with a stick it would need a clutch if I tune it. As of right now I'll likely just do an intake an cat back. If/when the clutch slips I'll put a heavier one in and then do the downpipe and tune. I'm really not looking to race the car as those days are over for me (had a heads/cam LS1 Camaro for that) so I'm ok with a simple setup. I enjoy driving stick and really just wanted a car that had plenty of power to pass people on the highway which it already does that well.

    Do the apr flash tune and a jb do the same thing or does the apr tune changes things to the car that the jb can’t? I’m looking at getting either a jb4 or a uni tune for my car and I was hoping they accomplish the same thing because the jb units are cheaper?

      Grant Volk UNI/APR/ any flash tune has increased timing and such but is obviously set to a certain PSI. (Usually 19psi for stage 2). Matheus Valença Your going need VCDS (Vagcom) and run a few test. Most likely your Wastegate need adjusting. You want it to be fully closed. (3.5v-4.Xv) and then do a Wastegate adaptation on the VCDS to find the appropriate open/closed range. If your Wastegate isn’t closed to at least 3.5v, it won’t do a proper adaptation.

I Run APR because at the time of purchase it was the only option. If you dont spend much time over 130mph, I would Just recommend JB4 and dont bother with an Off the shelf tune like APR, Uni, GIAC. With JB4 ypu can tune the car yourself and remove and sell it down the road. By far the best thing Ive bought. Downfall is no speed limiter removed, and no O2 disable, so youll need an O2 spacer for your downpipe.

      Hello, do you have Facebook? Look up a page called GappinCheeks, they have recently introduced a turbo that is actually much better than this. Send them a message, they are very knowledgeable and also tune JB4 for anyone interested.

      Can I stack jb4 with a Malone tune or does the stack specifically work with APR? I don’t have Facebook do they have an email? Currently ive been looking at Cts’s boss kit but it’s pretty expensive and they don’t have tuning capabilities for 1.8tsi’s. I’ve been trying to find a pro tuner local to me with little luck.

      Gli_Fahrenheit I haven't run logs for myself through vcds. but from what my P3 gauge reads it's about 12-12.5 at WOT. if I ever run logs out comment again for an update.

      Damn. i need a tune revision Asap then. i just installed water/meth and my AFR is 10.9-11.3 Wot.

      @PrzFinest21x  Před 7 lety

      Gli_Fahrenheit damnn, luckily I added water meth and a bigger compressor on the same tune. looks like the water meth and the added air counterbalance each other not throwing my AFR is off too much. pure luck lol

      are you running a custom tune ? or a straight Apr stage 2

    • @PrzFinest21x
      @PrzFinest21x  Před 7 lety

      Gli_Fahrenheit mhmm, I guess it kinda custom. It's the Off the shelf APR Stage2 file with some added Boost through a JB1 piggyback back. It's holding 20psi now vs the only 17psi.
