I’m so happy y’all posted this. It’s been super helpful seeing 335d stuff
Looking forward to more content thank you!
Great video!! Came across a wheel and am about to do this project. I might wait and send it out to be covered like the one in the video. Who did the work?
The wheel was actually purchased already refinished from outbidthem on ebay. I've also used products from redline goods before and had good success.
bonjour possible a faire la même chose sur un X5 e 70 de 2008 ? merci bien
Can you use a lci sport steering wheel on a non lci car?
My connector from burger motor sports is differnt. It has two butt connectors one white and one black and the blue plugs of course
I dont have any experience doing this aside from what you see in the video. If your harness is different than that I'm sorry but I won't be much help.
@@MunkysGarage do you have a link to the connector?
@@MunkysGarage the only one they have for sale is differnt
I looked at the one they currently have listed. It is definitely not the same as the one I used. The one I used does not appear to be on there site any longer.
Wondering, if I go from factory heated steering wheel like you have here, and I find a sport wheel that is heated, I’m good to preserve the heated function right? I don’t need any other components?
Yeah it should be plug and play with no issues.
What about the steering buttons, still work? I have seen on other videos that you have to change the buttons or get an specific set of buttons
Steering wheel buttons still work just fine. Didnt have to do anything with those. Just had to deal with the wiring for the paddle shifters.
Curious if you can swap a f30 steering wheel?
I'm not sure. Would be interesting to try. I'm sure the steering wheel would physically go on, as I believe the steering shaft size and spline design is the same in all the cars. But I'm not sure about the electronics part.
Who is the company who re-upholstered the new steering wheel? I couldn't find any info
I do not know who did the work on the steering wheel. It was supplied to me by the customer.
you didn't have to change the buttons? on bms guide it was you have to change the buttons and not just install the transmission wire harness because it won't work without the buttons
Reading there write up on there site it seems things have changed since I did it. Not really sure what changed. All I know is I received the steering wheel and harness from the owner as you saw in the video and installed it and it worked. The harness I used looks different from the one currentlyontheir site. Mine kinda piggybacked off the factory plus minus function of the factory shifter. The new harness looks different and I'm not sure how they are accomplishing this now. Hopefully this clears things up.
I hear u gotta disconnect the battery an wait 1 hr before removing the airbag is that true?
I usually give it about 10 minutes.
So I just bought a 335d yesterday and it has the paddle shifters but they don't work only the gear shifter sport mode
Interesting. I wonder if they just installed the steering wheel but not the harness.
@@MunkysGarage so I would have to buy a harness?
@@osamadavid9727 yes. The harness I used for this came from burger motorsports. This is a link to the harness. burgertuning.com/collections/3-series-e90-e91-e92-e93-m3/products/bmw-paddlesift-retrofit
Where can I find wiring harness for e90 335d 2010 ?
The one I used in this video was purchased from burger motorsports. Although the last time I checked they no longer had it. So im not really sure where to get it at this time.
Hi
I have 2013 Mini Cooper R56
I think it has same equipment as your car
I replaced the steering wheel with the new one that it has paddle shifter
I just need to know where can I find the retrofit kit?
I'm not aware of a retrofit kit. However, it looks like the plug connections should be in the clock spring assembly, no matter the year. It may just require programming to turn that function on in the vehicle.
Does this mean that there is an existing connection between the assembly in the stearing wheel and tge gear knob and I only need to do the programming? Do I need to use bimmer code?
Where are you located?
Fuquay-Varina, NC
Hey for bmw e60 535d its valable?
I am unaware of the availability of this for 535d. The last time I checked the conversion harness for the 335d was discontinued, so it's almost impossible to do it on that vehicle anymore.
