Excellent information. I'm an actual electrician and that gave me a lot to think about as I'm planning on buying a stack of leds for the theatre I just started at.

ETC makes upgrading to LED super easy with ETC R20 modules!

so I have heard that the Leds don't like filtered power. I have a etc senor cabinet what breaker would I need? is it enough to have a non dimming breaker or do I need something that is also unfiltered?

Very useful info. I'm wondering where something like switched-mode on an ETC D40 dimmer module lies in this. Is it okay to plug LEDs into it when in switched mode?

It is not recommended. As explained in the video, even if you set a dimmer to 100%, the output is not a true sine wave, so it can damage the power supplies within the LED fixtures.

@@springws14lbss but then I guess my question is what is the intended purpose of switched mode?

@@the-real-iandavid yeah probably, it is just confusing to me why there is a non-dim and switched mode. Maybe there was a time when this was thought of as a fine thing to do?
