Air India has the potential to eat into other airlines businesses. Previously when the quality of service was very poor on Air India, Indian passengers had to use foreign airlines to travel around the world. This means that they would have to use 2 flights in most of the cases, one to travel from India to that airlines hub and then from the airline hub to the destination where they want to go. With Air India they can travel to the destination directly without having to transfer at an international hub. Hopefully this will improve the service quality from the other airlines which so could take advantage of Indian travellers by giving them substandard treatment and getting away with it since there was no other alternative.
Air India has a huge potential to grow in the future.
