  • There seems to be an endless list of SUVs hitting the market these days! But we want to see more smaller EVs like the beautiful Peugeot e208!
    Blake got the hatchback for another week to properly explore the car. We talk range, charging, Regen, specification, power, motors and batteries.
    We weigh it up against some of the competition such as the Honda e, the Corsa, the Zoe and the Mini.

    Thanks guys for this review. Waiting for delivery of my e208 as we speak and looking forward to it. You guys are absolutely right about wanting more small EVs out there. I personally don’t get (and dislike) all those massive and heavy vehicles out there, not from a driving perspective and not from an eco- and sustainability perspective either. Anyway. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

      Thanks Ewout, delighted you enjoyed it! Congrats on your e208 order...lovely car!

    Absolutely love the Peugeot design lately.
    I have a e-2008 today but monday I will have a closer look at an e-208 as a second car for our family.
    My wife occupies the e-2008 every day so I would like a little car for myself 🥳
    Great topic this video.
    Absolutely love watching your videos 👌

      Thanks so much Terje! Must admit, the Honda e would possibly feature if our family was going to get a 2nd car. Thanks for watching and for the comment!

      @@evplatform Have to admit that I haven't taken a look at the Honda e, however I will do that now. 👍

    If any car can prove that EVs don’t have to be boring, this one certainly can.

      Absolutely! It's great fun! If you don't need the space, then it's a great option! Thanks for the comment DGB!

    man I feel short now.. Im 5'8 and was testing this car last week. I have plenty of leg room in the back, if front passenger is no more than 6 feet 1 maybe. 6 feet 2 and up in the front.. yah then I will start having trouble in the back too. But this is a car for single people or couples with kids no taller than me xD

      @evplatform  Před 2 lety

      Ha! Don't feel short Ramul! Thanks for the comment! Good points on the size. We used the car as a family a couple of times and managed ok. It just meant that I had to scrunch up my legs a bit when driving. But as you say, for most people, it'll do nicely! Thanks again.

    I’ve just cancelled an order for an Audi Q4 and ordered an e208 instead. The Audi was ordered in October 2021 and latest estimate (sic) from Audi after many many delays was March 2023 delivery! Had a rethink and decided to get a smaller EV for all our day to day driving rather than a family sized EV. Loved the e208 on the test drive and TBH it’s a lovely looking car which helps. Downsides are two-fold - 1) still an 18 week delivery timescale and 2) my wife will be driving it far more often than I will!

    • @evplatform
      @evplatform  Před 2 lety

      Wow, big change from the Audi...but well done! If you don't need the space and range then why lug it all around! Hope you get your e208 soon as possible! Thanks for the comment Ian!

      @@evplatform Yes complete change but my good lady pointed out what do we really want an EV for and that’s really commuting/local driving. Keeping a diesel estate for the family trips/camping etc. It’s a company car (UK) so not buying myself and fully maintained so only cost part from monthly payment is just the electric to charge. My ego would still love the Audi but my head (aided by my wife!) realises a small EV is the way to go.

    you got the driver seat in sleep mode. Put it more upright as it should be, you will also be able to see the display.

    • @evplatform
      @evplatform  Před rokem

      It's not the seating position John, as you can easily adjust the steering wheel for rake and reach to suit anybody's height. Lack of visibility is a frequent observation. But thanks for the comment, appreciate you taking the time to share!

    Another great review. Congrats Blake on election to IEVOA committee. Wife loves hers, great app, only omission seems to be no max SOC limit% setting. Very pretty looking small car. Nippy little terrier and enjoyable to throw about (eg Killakee to the Featherbeds). GOM is fantasy land after 100% charge showing an imaginary 350km, but below 50% SOC GOM becomes more realistic. e208 is realistically a 200-250km car, which is more than enough for a second car in Ireland, and even for a primary car. Only one 15min CCS charge stop needed on route to Galway, Cork or Limerick, but Waterford and Wexford easily within range on a single charge. Love the app for pre-heating. Slightly less range than Zoe but nicer looking and a major plus is it has CCS and can manage 100kw charging speed on DC. Agree 5kw AC lamp post sockets needed in residential areas for apartment dwellers and terraced home dwellers so they too can benefit from home or near home charging. PS: there is nothing wrong with families wanting 2.5 ton SUVs, that's what the market wants, we live in a free enterprise economy, and BEV SUVs do no harm.

    • @evplatform
      @evplatform  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks, really looking forward to getting stuck into a few projects with the IEVOA for sure! Good points about the 208 that you only get from living with it. There may be a place for 2.5t SUVs in the mix, but not anywhere near the amount we have on our roads and in cities. Thanks for watching and for the comment!

      @@evplatform Yes its the range rovers in Donnybrook and Stillorgan that don't even have tow hitches that are a mystery. They are escaping via the PHEV greenwashing route.

  • @andrewpitts6498
    @andrewpitts6498 Před 2 lety +1

    Regen is a form of constant grazing at relatively low power levels, so one assumes grazing on relatively low power (and therefore cheap and hopefully plentiful) chargers is actually good for the battery? Dunno. Makes yer think. 😁

    • @evplatform
      @evplatform  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah, serious DC charging can put more strain on the battery for sure...but modern EVs are so well equipped that there isn't a huge difference. Blake owns a 6 year old LEAF and it's started taking its toll, but no thermal management and a small battery on that. Thanks for the comment Andrew!

      Hi Gavin. Viewers really seem to come from so many countries. It'd take a long time to go through all the different prices, currencies, incentives, tax breaks, availability, etc. Maybe we could mention it for our home market though in future. Thanks for the comment!
