    Its just a technique, I've done it several times.
    The point is to make the chair's weight shifts into one point (the one leg we hold). Its a bit tricky, but you can do it so you need some training.
    Its just about tilt the chair to feel the whole weight into our hand, while the only one leg we hold still grounded, that means about more than 70% weight is already lifted, the power comes from our wrist. Once you done this, last step is to lift the chair. simply like that.
    The common mistake by beginner is try to lift the whole weight at once, well thats quite impossible. You need to do it step by step.
    Remember, try to tilt first until most of weight shifted into one point, and then simply lift it up.
    DK Yoo is an expert on this, so people watch him like he lift the whole weight at once, in fact he knows the trick, and he's good at doing it fast

  • @SilverforceX
    @SilverforceX Před 5 lety +11

    The reason those others can't do it is because the chair is off balanced and the actual mass they are trying to lift is about 9x the chair's weight. Very few ppl can lift 60kg with their wrist in that position. DK Yoo lifting 9.5kg of chairs is equivalent to around 85kg of force on his wrists.

      His explinations are actually pretty simple. The problem is relaxing your body completely while trying to move it and exert force with it are a very difficult thing to just explain in words. you have to keep trying to do it, in order to understand. I was trying to explain to a friend how to push without tension in your arms or upper body and he thought i was the weirdest thing ever. My muscles even while i was moving him back, were soft and relaxed. meanwhile his were tense and flexing trying to push. Its breaking the foundation of how people think they move, vs how they should move. not easy to teach.

      " .... trying to explain to a friend how to push without tension in your arms or upper body and he thought i was the weirdest thing ever......" good sharing!
      If you also keep lower body without tension, i.e. whole body and all joints are released, when you are executing a "pushing action", you can experience some interesting effect inTaichi , moving a heavy
      thing with little force, 四兩撥千斤

    Tilt the entire weight of the chair to your wrist. Make sure that the other 3 legs are off the ground first, then slowly lift the chair, while maintaining the vertical distant of the other 3 legs HIGHER than the leg at the wrist.

    @trinidadraj152 Před 5 lety +2

    No, it is not just a trick, and it is not about wrist strength. Try it for yourself with a heavy chair. Wrist strength is not enough. The point isn't lifting up the chair, it's learning how to set your shoulder down and connect it to your spine, then also to maintain the spine connected as one unit. The real power is coming from around the base of the lower spine. That's the point of this exercise.

  • @littlerunningwolf
    @littlerunningwolf Před 6 lety +7

    cham jang gong is basically a knock off of qi gong. Practicing qi gong helps you learne breath and body alignment, which lets you use your body weight and force more efficiently. It's not magic, just the practice of using the mind to enhance the body.
    Wrist strength is part of it. The challenge is actually being to push the chair so that you lift all four at the same time. The tricks are meant to demonstrate a level of skill, but if you just learn the tricks, that doesn't mean that you've learned the skill.
    I don't know if he has skill, or if he's just doing a trick. It requires wrist strength, shoulder strength, shoulder alignment, and posture, which are things that you learn with qigong, or whatever DK Yoo is calling his version of it .

    Your wrong, I don't think you realize the how heavy those chairs are. And it's nothing like the horse stance, actually the exact opposite. Those are very heavy chairs. You couldn't even get them an inch of the ground, even if you were a physics professor.

  • @motruthhunter
    @motruthhunter Před 6 lety +1

    You guys are doing this all wrong. You must pick up the chair at the lowest point with the hand touching the floor as well as the elbow, then lift it straight up, and for competition, weights are added. You have to think about all the weight distribution and lift with all the variables in mind. It is much more than just lifting a weight. I know, I have been doing this for a couple decades.

    so why is DK YOO calling this inner power? he always emphasizes that you have to do cham jang gong(horse stance) for 3months in order to develop inner wave and then you can lift the chair. Are you saying that no inner power is needed for this and that DK YOO is simply lying?

    • @skiflood

This is just what you see Dk yoo doing, this has been around for thousands of years and there's people that can lift much more,they don't show idiots like us because we will try to explain it away with science. Wjat you don't see is what is happening on the inside don't be so nieve.

    • @jaycrockett9205
      @jaycrockett9205 Před 6 lety

      gktjq149 7, yes I can some of the comment down below have the right idea. Any how, you could accomplish this by repeated wrist strengthing exercises, but then all you could do is lift the chair, and have a very muscular arm, Wich is no good for developing power and relaxation wich work together. But Dk yoo dose not weight train or use strengthing of the wrist and does not have a muscular physical. So how does he do this. Mediation techniques that he teaches, and this inner power can be used for many things, like striking, energy cultivation. If you could only see what is happening inside the body you would never think of muscle again, a building will only with stand time, with a proper foundation.
