Saw myself in the crowd! I was 12 years old, volunteering from the ft bliss youth bowling league. I'm in one of those bright yellow shirts haha didn't really realize I was watching something as amazing as these performances! It was quite an experience.
That's the Oasis lanes over there in el paso. I saw the airbrushed palm trees above the lanes and recognized it. I bowled there for fun with my wife on a road trip heading from from California back to Houston. Pins and lane conditions sucked when I went though.
Even though he didn't bowl a 300 in a single game in the TV finals he still managed a Johnny Barrypappa 300 because he had 8 strikes in a row in the match against Chris Barnes and then with 10 in the match against Smith. One of my favorite bowlers, right up there with Walter Ray Williams Jr., Norm Duke, and Pete Weber.
I've seen the 8-10 split happen a lot in our league...I've had it quite a few times. I just think of it as a solid hit where you have the solid 8 and solid 10 at the same time...
I think it was the way Smith left that 8/10 that surprised him. Usually one leaves an 8/10 when it is a flat 10 and a blower 8, not a shaker like that one was.
It's not that, but bcos his rev rate is so high. It's almost impossible for him to leave a 8-10. Pins get slap silly when he hits pocket. He is still the most powerful player by far. My only wish is to play like him but I can only manage a 190+ league average.
@rleepy I don't advise you to be a power player like him at all. Unless your extremely good and bowl all the time...power players are not as acurate like more conventional aproaches. You avg 190's on a house pattern...I advise working on accuracy, and no high rev rate. I don't concentrate on high revs and play down and in and I avg 225-230, bowling 2 nights a week.
@80gerardtan arrogant???? what a naive statement, he is one of the nicest and easy going guys in the pba...not like he talks shit, or does things directly to mr smith. noooo he is just in his zone....arrogant...LMAO

2:22 What is that
Parker Bohn III has to be the only player who has bowled a 300 on TV and come so close to bowling another on TV so many times including this one!
he would be the only person he the world who has never seen an 8-10 before lol

He sure is, even today. He is going to tear up the Senior tour.
Parker Bohn is the best southpaw in the game today.

Screw you, delete this account, Andrew Philips
to beat parker you have to played better than you normally can play. He's just too good, he's like a machine throwing that ball down the lane.
Light 8-10 from Bob Smith? Wow.
Pins where flying around like candle pins
That was your typical 2-8-10 light hit with the 2 pin falling.
I always leave 8-10 like everytime i bowl. I hit pocket 1/3 or 1/2 or head pin still ended up 8-10 split

Johnny Barrypappa? Where have I heard that name before? Was it in "King Pin" or was it "The Big Lebowski"?
lol What is that? I am...I am the 8-10 split!!

lol, atleast get a legends name right when you use it; Andy Varipappa.
Dont understand why he is so confused...it was a bad ball, with no drive the ball was totally flat...thats a typical 8-10 combination
heh nice gutter..
