I love Dionne but she was wrong not that it's a crime it's just surprising because before she became a solo artist she did backup vocals for Chuck Jackson Any Day Now was released a year before Bacharach and David became a song writing team perhaps she just assumed this song was another one of their collaborations
Isn't Any Day Now one of the greatest pop records of the sixties on every level the production is fabulous the arrangement I love the way your hear that organ in the beginning the musicians the backup singers and of course Chuck Jackson's amazing passionate heartfelt delivery with that God given voice of his I still get chills when I hear this record
Just to clarify Any Day Now was written for Chuck Jackson by Burt Bacharach and Bob Hilliard while On My Own was written for Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald by Burt Bacharach and Carol Beyer Seger, Bacharach's 3rd wife. Bob Hilliard collaborated during the same time that Bacharach was writing with Hal David in the early 60's. Shortly after 63 Hal David and Burt Bacharach became writing partners almost exclusively.
Any Day Now is not proper for a woman to sing unless "my wild beautiful bird, you will have flown" is changed to "my wild wonderful horse, you will have gone" as a man to be sung about leaving for good. BIRD is more feminine. HORSE is a slang term for a man.
Dionne is so enchanting . No one other is like her . My heart is affected by her singing .

She`s wrong it was not written by Burt Bacharach & Hal David it was written by Burt Bacharach and his original lyric writer Bob Hilliard .
