The other day I caught myself saying, “my friend Dawn says….” and I had to laugh out loud that I consider my favorite CZcamsr my friend! Thanks for all your videos and transformative minimal mom ideas that have positively impacted my life (and many of my friends lives now too)!
I use SOS pads on a lot of things, and love them!! Of course, I am careful what I use them on. Plus, I have the pink stuff, too. I also like the oven liners that I get from Walmart. They are life savers, or else the bottom of my oven would be a disaster. You are wonderful and I have learned so much from you!!
Dawn, I just have to say, your positivity is so welcome! It likely comes naturally to you, but the kindness and humility that you show on your channel - it's so beautiful! Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
My Hubby & I recently finished decluttering our kitchen & used Joshua Becker's idea of not having anything on the countertops (we still have a couple of things). We went on vacation for 2 wks & just got home this wk. We both walked into the kitchen & was amazed at how fresh & clean it felt not having all that stuff out. Ot has encouraged us to start on another room...after we rest up from vacation. 😆 Thank you Dawn for inspiring us with every video. Now, I need to go order me some Pink Stuff.
So happy for you . I usually clean the house and put fresh sheets on so my house when I come back is perfect. It’s a bit stressful before leaving but trust me , it’s worth it .
My mom did the same. My dad always said, “ why are you doing this? The only people that are gonna see this while we’re gone might be thieves; and I guarantee they’re not gonna care how clean our house is!“ But once I was married and had done a few trips, I “got” it! Who wants to come back from a nice vacation with gorgeous [aka minimalist 👈🏻Who knew!?!] hotels or camper to a mess on top of having to unpack??
A while back I decluttered my whisk and dough hook attachments for the KitchenAid mixer. A few days ago my husband was making a big batch of whipped cream and he was like, "I'm gonna make it in the KitchenAid! That makes it Soo much easier!" 😐I looked everywhere for that whisk hoping I hadn't decluttered it, but nope, it was gone. A word to the wise, hang onto that whisk! Lol
I have been watching your videos for a couple of years now, and have decluttered so much! My mother has as well! People come into my home, and always say, “Your house is so clean!” Honestly, it is because God used you to pass along all this wise advise to help me let go of “stuff” that my family did not need. You do such a wonderful job of addressing the emotional part of decluttering. Like you, I have four children, and the area of my home that I am now going through is boxes of old photos and school papers. I seriously need prayer to “not become weary in doing good,” because it is an emotional and almost overwhelming process. My father passed away four years from cancer, and I am dealing with wanting to hang onto every item like cards, etc, that he wrote on. It’s like having a little piece of him, but I cannot keep it all. When I get bogged down, I pray for Jesus to help me and watch one of your encouraging videos!
So sorry about your father. Have you considered shadow boxes for keeping his cards? They come in various sizes at Michaels Arts & Craft store that way you always have his memory. Or even putting them in a scrapbook for keepsake with pictures of him? Great way to preserve without having to let go.
If the letters and cards bring you joy, keep them! You could also take pictures of each card and make them into a book. That way, you have his original handwriting and the book will hold up.
Losing a loved one is hard and a constant feeling. Try framing the most precious items and photographing the slightly less precious ones maybe that would allow you some freedom to let go of some pictures/cards etc. Much love
To KEEP your oven nice after all that work, put a tin oven liner (available at Walmart, Lowe’s, etc) or make your own with tin foil and put it on the bottom of the oven - under and around the elements. SO much easier to just take out and toss when dirty. I also put a strip of tin foil in the middle of the top shelf- not all the way across to edges- it doesn’t seem to slow the cooking time as long as it’s Not all the way to the edge. I can just whip it out and toss if spills happen. And lastly, just a quick wipe WHEN spills happen. Do it quick- I keep a small, old pot holder handy that I don’t worry about getting dirty to keep my hands safe and then wipe with a damp wash cloth or paper towel. If you do it right then, it won’t bake on, that’s when you have to scrub for ever! 💖Good luck! LOVE a your videos! Thanks for all you do!
Here i am in Chennai India, watching your video on a Sunday, getting inspired to declutter tidy and decorate before the work week Monday mayhem starts ! Keep up the great work Dawn. There are folks half way across the globe who look to you for guidance , cheers
For those that might need a low chemical option for The Pink Stuff functionality, I found mixing 1 part liquid Castile soap of your choice with 2 parts baking soda (I used a citrus version), and stirring the heck out of it worked really well. I stuck it in a wide mouth jar, and use a wet rag to apply like people do the pink stuff, then wipe off with a wet rag and spritz with vinegar or vinegar and water and wipe with a clean, dry rag.
I heard an idea for cookie sheets, place it under the storage items and it kind of acts as a slider shelve when you need to reach your items. Hope that works.
Yes, those lipped pans make great sliders. I moved into a house that has an exceptionally small oven, and my normal size pans don’t fit in there. I kept them anyway and use them in my bottom cupboards as sliders. They work great.
You've just opened the oven door and immediately I remember that video of when you took the door apart and the glass completely apart and had a touch time getting it back together
It seems like decluttering will never end, but tonight it feels like I saw a light at the end of that tunnel!!! I still have a long way to go, but I'm learning and deciding what I want to manage. It turns out, I want to manage far less than I thought, thank you for that!!!
I recently upgraded to all glass food storage from plastic. I now store mine with the lids on after a previous video I saw of yours. It was a TOTAL GAME CHANGER! I thought it would take up too much space and limit me too much in my cabinets. It does take up a little more space from my previous setup but I LOVE IT. I cannot imagine storing them any other way. Plus it is way easier for my husband when he grabs one or goes to put one away. Anyone who hasn't tried this definitely should! Added bonus I have less containers now than before but honestly I didn't even need the amount I had before. I did keep a small stash of plastic ones for kids lunches for school but OMG I will never go back....! One of my favorite tips I have gained from you Dawn!
I have been doing that for years with a tiny kitchen….you can store the smaller bowls with lids on them in the larger glass one, with lids also fitting on the bigger glass bowl…win, win situation!
Yes, same! Would never buy a different kind or store them a different way. Plus it’s much better to reheat leftovers, like in the microwave, directly in the glass container.
Have you tried vinegar on your faucet? Put a paper towel wet with vinegar on where you want it clean. I just did that a few days ago. You can also put a paper towel with vinegar in a baggie and rubber band it on the end of the faucet. It gets all the crud out!
If you hate the smell of vinegar try citric acid. Where I'm at you can easily buy it in small packets (for baking, etc), it's safe and it smells like lemons :) Just dissolve it in small amount of water, soak paper towel in the mixture and put the wet towel on that faucet. I usually leave it on the problematic spot for an hour or so but I once moved into apartment with a really bad mineral deposit in the shower. Leaving paper towel soaked in citric acid mixture over night did the trick.
I too suggest citric acid in place of vinegar. I use it mixed with Dawnn and water to clean my bath surround and mixed with water to clean my coffee maker. Sometimes I add it to my laundry rinse cycle the same way you might use vinegar. It smells so much better. I buy a bag in bulk that lasts forever and takes up less room than a bottle of vinegar.
My decluttering efforts restarted once my second born left for college. I joked with my friend and said he was the first thing that left the house lol. He went through his room and pared down everything in it before leaving for the dorm which was a huge help and motivation for me. The first thing I’ve started on is my kitchen. I’ve been able to put so many things in the time will tell box and so much went to the thrift store and trash. It’s amazing how much I still have in place that we use though! When I dropped off items at the thrift store it was such a relief!! The thing that helps me is knowing that all of this has to go *somewhere* and can’t stay in my house forever and also knowing the money has already been spent on these items. It takes the guilt away from removing things we spent money on as well as the guilt of throwing things away. These extra things have to go somewhere cause they can’t stay here!
I really love your home decor corner on the open shelves in the kitchen. It is just the right size to hold just the right amount to keep freshly changed for the seasons without an overwhelming effort. Such a treat to see the changes you implement!
I love the tablecloth! And the shelves look awesome too. I bet you’ll make good use out of that caddy now that the warm weather is here and you all must be on the deck more often. Enjoy and thanks for the video!
Hi Dawn! Loved this video, thanks for taking us along. I love the pops of lemon🍋. I have it in my kitchen as well, it makes me happy😊. Love ya, Cindy 🌻💗
I LOVE the simplicity of your decor. The centerpiece was a PERFECT addition to the table. The colors look so bright and cheery and think that what you did with the open shelving is SO PRETTY.
I like the table cloth and thank you for this video...you always keep me motivated...although I have a long, long, long way to go with my decluttering!! Have a great weekend!
I LOVE the Pink Stuff!! So versatile and powerful without those chemical smells!! It also works GREAT on the white rubber bottoms of shoes! From dingy white to brand new crisp white. Thank you, Dawn for your channel. You are so gifted in explaining the thinking behind the why. Thank you for being genuine!❤️
Thank you…a cheerful kitchen reset and refresh! Being in the kitchen so much it makes a powerful impact on our wellbeing :) I put clean beaters right back in the hand mixer 🍋💕
Hi Dawn - thank you for another great video! I'm in the middle of a "reset," and it feels great. Your words are always in my head "what do I want to manage." From plants, crafting stuff, and clothes. I am always amazed how quickly "stuff" creeps into the house. I always feel better when i have less to take care of.
I just cleaned/decluttered my room and I am keeping my dresser surface completely clear. I love it! I was inspired by you, Dawn, and I can't believe how much joy and peace it gives me!
I love love love yellow and lemons😊 It’s amazing how when you have the right bed covering life just seems just happier. Thank you for all of your content ❤️
You have inspired me so much to declutter for the last few years. Still could declutter a lot but I really think about what I use and being really careful what I bring in to my house now. Thank you for all your videos 💕
I think the mini bunt cake stand would make a cute center piece on your new tablecloth. I love little stuff like that too. Hard to resist! Love the lemon print!
This past week I cut down my food storage containers by about half & now store most of them with the lids on. I love it! Never thought I could get to that point. That's just one example of the decluttering progress (slow but pretty steady) in my home. Thanks, Dawn, for your ongoing encouragement & inspiration! And for keeping it real with your honesty & openness.
These videos help me a lot by giving me cleaning and decluttering motivation! I need longer cleaning videos with Dawn! 😂 Need to get the house in shape before the baby comes!!
Thanks for the support Dawn. Love when you add in "well, this is what works for us" shows that grace. And the doors in the kitchen shows its always ok to be a work in progress too. Thanks for not cutting it out. I may never be a full minimalist and enjoy learning what we can use towards being more settled in our at home time. Thanks a bunch! Happy Canada Day for us here tomorrow! Victoria
Hey there, Dawn. The best thing I've found for the lime scale (white stuff) on faucets, sinks and tubs, is CLR kitchen & bath spray. (CLR stands for Calcium Lime and Rust) There's no nasty smell and you just spray it, walk away, and come back in 10 or 15 minutes and sponge off the foam! Easy Peasy. ♥
We have found that just wrapping those faucets/black parts in paper towels and soaking them with vinegar works very effectively. Let them stay wet for 30 minutes to an hour depending on the amount of calcification (repeat as necessary). Agitate gently with something like a toothbrush. If you scrub too hard, you will remove the patina.
My entire sink is black. Will CLR work? I've tried many things on the past, and it still shows white spots! I want it to "look" as clean as I've scrubbed it.
Thanks for this! I was watching while doing my nightly dishes routine and pulled out the Pink stuff and cleaned my oven, stove, and microwave while I was watching!
I have a few multicolored glass bulbs like your mushrooms. I got them as a gift so no idea where they came from. They work great and I will try the fabric around the bottom. Love your videos.
I hung my measuring cups and measuring spoons on the inside of cupboard doors where I use them the most. They are always easy to find and, BEST: easy to put away. I used to have three sets of each and now only one and I never have to rummage through my bowls to find them. It is almost like storing your tupperware with the lid on. Life changing.
I love the way the open shelving and the tablecloth look…so summery! I can’t use a table cloth on my round kitchen table because my two cats like to run down the hall, jump up on the table, slide across it and then run thru the living room. I tried a tablecloth once and, other than it’s excellent entertainment value , it did not work well…cats and tablecloth everywhere! So, I am enjoying your table because it is very pretty!
Great video. I will definitely be trying the pink stuff. Also I would highly recommend a mat that is made to line the bottom of the oven to catch drips and spills. They are fantastic and you can easily pull it out and wash it in the sink.
Thank you great video. I put some organizer bins in my bathroom. I love it. I still have more to do in another cabinet in my bathroom. I watched your video on bathroom organization. I did what you do. I put my everyday things I use in a bin. I grab it use it and put it back. I love my helix mattress. I saw it on one of your videos and bought it. I love it so much. Thank you
For outdoor plants I use a variation of an olla pot and here in Texas the plants love it because it keeps the roots moist even when the water is evaporating out of the surface in spite of mulch.
Love the lemons 😍. I'm itching to get nice looking dish towels and dishcloths. Mine are 13 years old and still holding up, but I've never liked the look of them 😂. There's something about a white kitchen with green and bright yellow and orange that is just so happy, energizing, and inviting.
I used to have glass ones years ago my Mom gave me. They broke so just recently I got some plastic ones from the Dollar Tree. I’m really enjoying them, as are my plants. ♥️

Try putting lemons (real or fake) in the cake stand to bring in more yellow for your zigzag.
Great idea!
That is a great idea!

You read my mind - also a lemon nestled in front of the fern, second shelf, would work, too.

Dawn, you are like sunshine in my day. Thank you for being you, and for honestly sharing your struggles too. It helps! ❤️
I recently purchased the Pink Stuff too. I am impressed with how well it works.
so much fun to watch your declutter and decorate. I'm thinking try your white bin on the table, and leave just one item on your middle shelf.
You inspire me! Thanks for sharing this. Tomorrow morning I will tackle our food container place!
Dawn, We LOVE our helix mattress! We cannot thank you enough for recommending it to us!!!
Thank you, thank you!!
Love the lemon effect. You’re right, it’s a happy feeling.
I'm motivated to grab a box and declutter my mugs and glasses! thanks 😊
Tablecloth is so cute! Looks bright and summery!
It looks beautiful Dawn!! Very happy!!!
that pink stuff is awesome!!!! I used it on stove pans and got them nice and clean without the effort.
These videos help me a lot by giving me cleaning and decluttering motivation! I need longer cleaning videos with Dawn! 😂 Need to get the house in shape before the baby comes!!
Love your eyeglass frames! I love the idea of letting things “sit” for a bit to see if you need to make changes!
Perfect just gifted my friend the pink stuff for her cleaning business. She’s loving the minimal cleaner for multi purposes! Yay
Thanks so much for the encouragement, Dawn!
Victoria
I feel you on the black faucets they look great but are so much work!!’ Great video!!!
Easy Peasy. ♥
I agree! CLR does a great job on lime scale.
Agree! We soak our shower heads in CLR and they look brand new.
Lime Away is a similar product. They both work well on the white spots.
The yellow on your open shelves go so well with the blue in your kitchen! Probably my favorite set up of your so far.
I have a few multicolored glass bulbs like your mushrooms. I got them as a gift so no idea where they came from. They work great and I will try the fabric around the bottom. Love your videos.
I love the decorations they look amazing
I just purchased the pink stuff. Home Depot recommended it. Now I am excited to use it. Thank you
I hung my measuring cups and measuring spoons on the inside of cupboard doors where I use them the most. They are always easy to find and, BEST: easy to put away. I used to have three sets of each and now only one and I never have to rummage through my bowls to find them. It is almost like storing your tupperware with the lid on. Life changing.
Second I saw the results on the oven door…..pink stuff on the way from Amazon! Can’t wait to try it out. Thanks and great video!
Yes!! I’ve been needing this!! Hey dawn!!
LOL. Gotta love our kitties!
Thank you
For outdoor plants I use a variation of an olla pot and here in Texas the plants love it because it keeps the roots moist even when the water is evaporating out of the surface in spite of mulch.
omg my oven door looks the same im definitely gonna give pink stuff a try thanks for sharing with us
I love the yellow and orange and green with the blue in your kitchen!
The "keep" hand mixer is a good one - I got mine in 1988 and it still works!!!
