Mam , why only wrist and ankle enlargement is there , why not elbow enlargement or knee enlargement . Why do we see only valgum and varum deformity of lower limb and not that of upperlimb ? And what determines , whether a child develops genu valgum or varum ? Mam please answer 🙏 🙏🙏🙏
Rickets affect each and every bone of the body. As this is a disease of young children and infants, as they bear weight on palm and sole during crawling and creeping, more pressure over wrist and ankle occur so become wide because of rickets, bones are very soft and fragile. Similarly when baby starts walking, valgus or varus deformity occur. Similarly when baby starts sitting, pressure over vertebrae causes scoliosis or kyphosis occur So not all children will have similar features. It will depends on weight bearing.
