Frs I just thought about doing this yesterday but I been seeing a lot of bad stuff it Ik it also depends on locations
In which college r u studying now snd where
radiology student? Do you mean medical school or are radiology technician? I'm assuming the latter, because you can't be a radiology student without first completing medical school.
To sum it up radiology is pretty chill, not much paper work, integral part of medicine, for visual people, and pay is great!
After all the schooling I bet it is great pay! And can finally sit back
deathkissgoodbye I’m really interesting in doing it (I’m 13) I have been thinking about it for a while
Is 15 years of schooling worth it?
James Taylor it’s 8 years and 4 years of payed residency which is a lot better then most medical fields.
It always discourages me knowing it takes like 12 years to get there.. and I’m trying to assist my parents financially as soon as possible
And after 17 years of school you, too, can enjoy Radiology.

Hey, Doc. I’m a brain tumor patient, and, I get regular MRIs, to check my head. I’ve had 3 occurrences, all found by routine MRIs. You all rock, and save lives. Radiology are the unsung heroes of medicine. Liked.
Kevin Moore I hope you get better 👍🏾
In Jesus' mighty name, you will be healed!
Luke Cory thank you, and Cap Cap for your kindness. I’m lucky that I came through the other side generally unscathed, however, being free of a brain tumor unfortunately didn't last long. I’ve maxed out my radiation dosage, and, have yet another recurrence that I’ll have removed via surgery soon, and, seeing as my tumor is recurrent, I hope to get something, such a Gliadel wafers put in the resection cavity after resection to hopefully extend my time without a tumor.

Radiologist is the doctor who bills you even though you've never seen him/her in person. HaHaHa...
Yet sometimes sees more than what you can see in person.
And yet they're doing all the actual doctoring. ER docs just order CT scans for everybody regardless of actual need and let the rads read it and make the diagnosis. Same with floor docs actually.
the rad is the one that told your doctor what your studies showed and your doc takes the credit .
Pathologists do the same thing. Just because someone doesn't see you, it doesn't mean they didn't carry out a vital role in patient care.
@@CaptainFantastik1 can confirm, father is a radiologist and all the weirdest and hardest cases get handed off to the rads. if they miss it, no one is catching it.

This is a great video! I'm getting my RN soon and decided I'm going for med school next. I never really considered radiology until I stumbled across your channel. Now I'm seriously considering it as a potential career! I definitely prefer the idea of focussing on studies and cases in my own environment (I'm an introvert), working with a variety of medical fields and technology, in a relatively quiet space. I'm definitely a visual learner and love solving puzzles. I've always been fascinated by imaging. Plus I'd be helping so many patients (and colleagues) in a single day!
So happy you’ve found your niche!!! Your patients are blessed to have you.
I like how humble and chill this guy is
I've been iffy on pursuing an MD. Worked closely with a radiologist in Hawaii who told me, '8 years will pass you by regardless of what you do. It's where you'll be after those 8 years that matters'. Stuck with me but still not sure especially since I got a little 2 year old.
work-life balance is also a big factor. yes 8 years will pass no matter what, but it can be 8 miserable years of working 14 hours a day or 8 years of a moderate life of work and hobbies.
10 years has passed by and I’ve been with the same company. Last year I’ve begun thinking about my future and thought what the heck am I doing. I can’t afford to buy a house in CA with this job! So should I change career and be in RadTech? Thinking… thinking…

Thank you for the becoming Radiology Residency youtube video, it was very inspiring to me.
As a radiation oncologist resident I am very much inclined to say that WE use the most advanced technology in medicine :P

@@jotham8654 depends on country i guess and reimbursement options. I am not from the US
Raed 928 that seems quite unrealistic. The average radiation oncologist makes around $400k per year. Unless your family friend has investments on the side, I highly doubt that income is strictly from his job as a doctor
True. But it isn’t used to nearly the same frequency as diagnostic imaging.

What do you fear about AI
@@LovelyyAubrey Reading images for us
There are so many variations in every person's anatomy that AI would very likely make mistakes. The algorithms would not be able to cater to every single person's unique body habitus and anatomy.
- a radiology tech
@@guitarmaddness13 Sure they are. How do you think computer vision works? You give the AI a way of reading the image and creating high-level understanding (such as a CNN) and many examples with their correct answers, and then the AI learns to apply the knowledge to new situations. Even if the AI does make mistakes, they'll likely be caught by a supervising radiologist who can look over a whole team's worth of cases.
I am considering going into this field. It interests me! After watching this video by Dr. Cellini, he makes it sound even more interesting! Radiology don’t wait up for me, I have a long way to go !! 😁👍🏻

Hi Dr. Cellini! I just found your channel and I am planning to take the path you did as a non-traditional medical student to becoming a physician. I have been practicing as a certified Speech-Language Pathologist in the medical setting for 10 years and I am preparing to return to school next year in January 2024 and begin taking pre-med science pre-requisites, MCAT and applying to medical school. Nice to know the reasons. The number of displays can come down, where two bigger monitors can be split to display two, four six or eight pictures using new technology. Happy I am part of the solutions team working on these project.
The variety is there...private practice you’ll read MSK MR, PET/CT, body MR, Neuro MR, OB US all before breaking for lunch...if you want you can crank it out in your home office in your pjs

Cool video. I'm a radiologist in a small city in Iran. we have outdated technologies (imagine reporting a mammogram on a CRT low resolution monitor or deciding about a complex fracture without reconstruction). there are lots of paperwork and writings (No voice recognition system or...). because of lack of many other modalities, a huge part of our work depends on ultrasound exams, killing my shoulder, neck and vocal cords! payments are horrible and delayed. Radiation protection is poor, and... but with all these, I love it! I love images, videos, decision making, looking for piece of puzzles and helping patients and my colleagues by doing this. Hey,
So, I was curious I am still currently in my undergrad, but I want to pursue radiology. Any tips or pointers on either things to heavily focus on, or how to reach out and shadow a radiologist?
Thanks in advance!

I don't see AI overtaking anytime sooner. You know what happened to radiologists with the technology boom? It makes your work way easier that other doctors want you to see more images lol. Radiology call can be very bad, and you are basically working nonstop because you have so much work to do. AI will definitely help take the burden down. And radiologists have some sort of patient contact, not much as other docs but fair amount. Also, there is the liability issue. In the end you need doctors to oversee the cases for double check. Sure, pay will go down, but radiology will still make tons of money. I can definitely see nurses getting replaced though.
Biggest threat for rads are outsourcing where people will read images for much cheaper price. Already happening

@@pablopalomareslazaro696 Also MD schools are usually cheaper. And you can only focus on the USMLE without having to worry about COMLEX.
You’re one of the only doctors on CZcams that is a radiologist, so it’s nice to get your perspective. Those pros are great, but the one con that I can think of that out weighs the pros is the lack of patient interaction. Even though I’m introverted, I would prefer to interact with patients and other physicians. Can you speak a bit about that aspect of the job?
You could always pursue interventional radiology for the patient contact.
You can have plenty of patient interaction and collegial tech and other staff contact is always there. You can up or down the volume on that It’s not a job in a “dark room “. Fortunately not enough Med students figure this out and that’s good

Nothing compared to a gamer!
When a patient goes into the hospital and gets some type of imaging done, what determines whether the images get sent to a diagnostic radiologist or an interventional radiologist? Do the two share/swap images sometimes?
The diagnostic radiologist diagnose ur disease with the help of radiological pictures, the interventional radiologist uses these picture to plan further interventional steps ( like a Angiography, Biopsy, etc )
Thanks so much for this!💜💜💜
diagnostic vs interventional and I agree with all your reasons
