Bondo All-Purpose Putty Metal & Wood Door Repair
Bondo® All-Purpose Putty is a professional strength, versatile filler for repairing interior and exterior surfaces around the home. This fast curing 2-part filler allows you to make high-quality, long-lasting repairs to metal, masonry, concrete, painted wood, drywall and more. Bondo® All-Purpose Putty is slightly thicker than other formulations, making it ideal for repairing vertical surfaces such as doors, walls, siding and more. The product is formulated to be non-shrinking, water-resistant and permanent. The all-purpose filler can be sanded in 15 minutes and painted in only 25 minutes. Not only can you fill in small damage, but the strength of this 2-part filler allows you to rebuild rotted or missing pieces of the original surface and make repairs that last.
Great for Many Interior and Exterior Projects
Bondo® All-Purpose Putty can be used to fill, patch and repair concrete surfaces, painted exterior wood, holes in metal gutters, knotholes, loose tile, wood shingles, fencing, painted window sills, doors, door frames, brick, stone, drywall and much more!
    Strength to Restore and Rebuild
Bondo® All-Purpose can handle any repair ranging from the smallest to the largest of projects. When the filler and hardener are mixed, a reaction occurs which allows the filler to chemically bond to the surface you are repairing. This technological advantage of a 2-part filler also allows the product to cure quickly and adhere permanently to the repaired surface. Bondo® All-Purpose Putty can be applied in layers to rebuild damaged or missing pieces of the repair surface. Bondo® All-Purpose Putty chemically cross-links to cure for a faster, more durable repair which will is water-resistant and will not shrink.
    Directions for Use
    1. Clean repair area with warm, soapy water or a surface cleaner to remove dirt, oil, dust or contaminants; let dry completely.
    2. Sand the surface with 80 grit to remove all primer, paint, loose rotted wood or rust extending 1 to 2 inches beyond the damaged area. Remove all dust created from sanding.
    3. Remove a 3-inch diameter circle, 1/2 inch thick of Bondo® All-Purpose Putty and place on a clean non-porous mixing surface. Knead the Bondo® Cream Hardener tube thoroughly to ensure contents are well mixed. Squeeze a 3-inch strip/bead of cream hardener across the putty that you removed from the can. (Recommended: mix small amounts that can be used in 3-4 minutes.)
    4. Thoroughly mix for approximately 2 minutes using the Bondo® Spreader. Mix the putty and hardener keeping the contents thinly spread out will keep the putty from drying as quickly and give you a longer working time.
    5. Spread an initial thin layer of mixed putty over repair area using firm pressure to ensure maximum adhesion. Apply additional layers until the desired thickness is reached.
    6. Allow the putty to dry 15 minutes at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). In cooler climates, putty may take 20-30 minutes to dry.
    7. Using 3M™ Sandpaper 80 grit, sand and shape the filled area to the contour of the surface. Feather the edge of the area with 3M™ Sandpaper 180 grit until the surface is smooth. If dust builds up or clogs the sandpaper, remove by brushing with a wire brush. Optional - For ½ inch or deeper fill repairs making more than one application is recommended.
    8. Prime and paint the area per the manufacturer’s recommendation.
    9. Clean tools with acetone or lacquer thinner

Thank you for explaining. I'll be fixing an immobile garage door then painting the American flag on it! Hopefully others in my neighborhood will be inspired.

Good vid. Thanks. I just bought have the same door used, and am working on it right now, before I install it. BTW, I took the window out (several screws) mainly because I thought it might be easier than taping the window frame and glass because when working on it. In my case, they caulked on top of the screws and getting that hardened caulk out to get the screws out took more time than I will publicly admit.

I found some steel table legs but they have perfect circle holes in the legs. I’m going to spray foam inside those holes then bondo over them to make the legs with no holes. I think there’s paint in them. Should I wire brush them first then bondo them?

Abraisive surfaces for non surface finish areas is always a yes. The paint needs to be able to be scuffed. Not removed unless it needs to be and is flakey. Just wipe with alchohal and make sure its clean before application.
