In 9 ball, at that level of play, I think most pros would forget about the 2- way shot and put all their focus into making the bank. There's no right or wrong choice it's just a matter of personal preference but the top 9 ball players in this era are beyond ultra aggressive and will make that bank most of the time when all their focus is on pocketing the ball. Great video btw!

When one is playing pocket billiards, is not one's focus directly on pocketing the ball? (regardless of the shot variety)

@@cosmicraysshotsintothelight It all depends on the situation. Not only in that game but in the match overall. There's so many factors that can affect your decision. Sometimes you want to focus only on making the shot, getting safe be dammed, other times you're more concerned with getting the cue ball to a certain spot and making the ball is just a bonus. Either way the important thing is to know what you're trying to accomplish before u get over the ball. Never take the shot before you've decided exactly what you want to accomplish. Indecision will guarantee failure. As for aggression vs defense there's no real rule of thumb. It's a situational decision. I will say however that if you think your chances of getting safe are about the same as making the ball you should go with aggression. You'd rather lose missing a shot than missing a safety.
Oh and of course which type of game your playing affects that choice as well. In one pocket you're often better off hanging the ball than pocketing it. If you want to see the best bank pool player ever to live search for Gary Spaeth. There's a few low quality videos of him hanging around. Old Bushwacker banks straighter than any man ever to live. I was lucky enough to see him live a few times at the end of his playing days and even then the man was a force unlike any other. Can't imagine how good he was in his prime.

A big thanks Andre. This new or my 1st time seeing this type of video, I really enjoyed this type where showing where the pro player struck the cue ball and the action he got. It gives me another perspective of seeing the shot, would I have played it his way or my way, and why. I hope you keep these kind of videos coming!

you can see the cue ball drift slightly towards the center of the table also on the six ball to the seven, doubt it had much to do with the outcome but still I noticed a slight drift at the end of the shot.

Bro, I got nothing but luv for you, your game and your videos. But on the bank shot you set up, did you give more of an angle to bank towards the side?? Or does it just look that way? Just looked like your cue ball was a little further down table then his shot!! Great Video!!

Albin's balls look about even, but Shari seems to have them set up for an easier side pocket bank

He could also have gone lower on the cue ball when shooting the 6 ball. That would have lengthened the path of the cue ball after contact, going deeper on the long rail and the cue ball would have come off the short rail more towards the 7 ball.

I think he beat himself on this shot. Isn't "natural position" something that people coach...and to not do more than is necessary? I'm confused. Make the easier bank...and run out...idk???

Why couldn’t he ease the 6 in, accept a back cut at the 7, and follow for a shot on the 9?

He could've just slow rolled the 6 and be on the left side of the 7, closer to the long rail. Why risk going 2 rails on a new cloth, while also playing check side on the cueball is a big baffling from such a clinical pro like Albin.
