As someone who plays out of Society Billiards, I can attest to the fact that Rollie has been working on the drill he learned from Ralph Eckert in the previous video. Every so often you see a faint outline of a square left in the center of the table as a sort of "Rollie was here" calling card.
The thing that stands out to me is that you follow through the cue ball a good 12" where as AO barely follows through at all. Either way it's a cracking shot and you did well to replicate it at all; I doubt many others, even pros, would do the same in many less shots than yourself. Hats' off sir.
I became an empath at 6:43 😂 I love how much work you put into these experiments for us, and the humor & brilliant editing is what keeps me wanting more. Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏
It is Somonis cloth. But agreed, newer cloth is COMPLETELY different than older cloth. Even 3 months makes a difference. Also, if the balls are dirty or old that will affect a lot as well.
This. I'm sure this is a percentage shot because as long as you don't hit the wrong side of the 2 it's likely that you'll get a position. That's why to me shot #40 is even better than the original shot.
I've seen every video. The final cut reel has great explanations as to what works and what doesn't. What's even more impressive, is that you are able to adjust when making all your attempts in real time at the table and remembering what you needed to do differently to recreate the shot. Pretty powerful skill to hone! Keep up the excellent work! TIL: decrease mayo, increase mustard
To be fair, I'm impressed you were able to do it at all on that cloth! Remarkable! I imagine, dont know for sure, that the slicker and faster cloth albin had makes it a smidge easier but he did get it on try 1. Still impressive. Love your videos and commentary!
I told him that myself. Albin was playing on far better equipment: brand new table and brand new cloth. That means the balls skid/slide more and the table plays much faster.
Mad respect for sticking with it until you're able to replicate the shot exactly. I expect this will up your game quickly overall. You do a great job keeping it interesting with your humor and editing skills too, very nice!
Rollie my man, u forgot to factor in the fact that Albin was playing on a brand new table with a brand new cloth. Basically, it plays a lot different than yours. New cloth means the balls skid/slide a bit more and it's also way faster.
Welcome back mate! A couple of comments I wanted to share: 1) Being an average player myself, this shot seems a lot harder than the Efren trick shots, which you just need to get the hang of. Said differently, it can take you another 50 shot to pot the ball here again, while you probably would be able to pull off some of the other shots more consistently. 2) I look forward to you crushing the above average players in the tournament, would be sick if you can pull off some of the shots you trained :D 3) I'm sure you have fun with Florian and the rest (who is a really nice dude btw, I've talked to him briefly) but this series is the one which created your hype and the one we like (e.g., only here you can make jokes about the casino, baby, etc.). 4) Happy new 2020 year dude! Cheers, gishena
Some great shots at the start. That must be almost a be a record for the number of attempts. You really stuck with it and congrats for getting there in the end. 👍
I think the pro player's shot was luck or a fluke. He was hoping to come back down table but the cue ball hit the point which rebounded it back to the side rail which pushed it into the two ball. 52 tries to mimic a fluke shot. That shows your dedication to the craft. I'm just happy to do a full table draw shot.
OK, I have to admit that I laughed out loud on the 1920's playback. I was not expecting that. I also laughed at all the beeping when you missed and ranted. (not sure what that says about me...sigh) Thanks for another great video!!
This is the first one of your videos I've seen. I *really* like the concept. I'm not a pool player, but I'm interested in watching Snooker, so I always wonder what the players are actually doing and/or thinking while planning their shots. It's really helpful having you try the same shot repeatedly and describe what's going wrong and right--that's one of the things missing from match commentaries. Thanks muchly!
Great shooting. Feel like you basically got it on 40 but I would imagine Albin may have played to get on the 2 to bottom left like you did multiple times before that. Reckon you got his intention on shot 15. Great shot to watch and well done!
Hard to tell from the angle, but I think Albin is bridging higher off the rail with a closed bridge, rather than right off the cushion. That will help with getting the top spin. On many of your shots you were hitting too low; I think it was because of the bridge.
Great stuff as always, Rollie! Best of luck at the US Open, and if you get the time and haven't yet, I'd like to see the Chris Melling 4-rail one-ball shot vs. Mika Immonen. Thanks, and keep up the great work!
You made that shot happen more than once... Think of it this... Not even Albin would have been able to hit it exactly like he did every time. The fact that you got the ball there and had a shot is what matters. Keep shooting man, well done.
I think part of the difference between his shot and yours is your bridge technique. He keeps his bridge closer to the tip of the cue giving him more control. When I slow your shots down, there is often quite a bit of play in your follow through, which suggests there's probably variance in your stroke. Watch his stroke: it doesn't wobble on the follow through at all, it's under 100% control at all times which gives him 100% precision. If you can perfect that one thing, I think you will get much more consistent and reproducible shots. I love watching this series, please keep them coming, Rollie!
Hey rollie...I was watching a video of "the best shots of the decade" or something, and saw earl strickland make a jump shot from corner to corner (top to bottom, opposite sides). The real difficulty is how he had so much back spin on the cue ball that it draws full table right back to where it started. Maybe give the shot a try for your next video?
DoubleDownHustler have you actually been able to shoot with one prior to your order? If so how do you find it? If not I’d love to hear how it is once you get it. I’m considering the purchase myself but know of no one who has this shaft.
Remember those TV tables have new cloth and are under lights so no moisture on the table that makes it super slick that's why his ball slides so easily and he used way less effort and still got more action than you but you did well... That go cue thing of beauty but expensive have seen great reviews about it
Hey Rollie there is a shot made by Shane van Boening in the 2014 world cup of pool. He partnered Earl strickland against England. The shot I want you to recreate is hit power shot into the bottom corner and run 4 rails around, with top english, for position at the head rail for the next shot. Please do this. Also do an everyday carry with your cues and case, I'd love to know what cues you have.
Another awesome vid! Albin's the man and always has been, thanks for showing him respect. Next time make it easy on yourself Rollie, your one-ball is too far to the left and too far up table. I know I'm splitting hairs but it looks like at least half to three quarter's of an inch difference both ways. Look at 9:35 frame and you'll see it. Not hating on you, in fact you made a much harder shot because you had more of the 3-ball to clear and more angle for the spin to take. AWESOME shot Rollie!!!
There is definitely some amazing gifts and skill in the pool universe. Really enjoy your vids and your persistemce. I think you have some natural ability that would be more evident if you spent 8-10 hours a day on the table like the pros do.
From the looks of that shot. Seems like Albin was just trying to get the cue ball down there near the two and just happen to hit the two and got good shape. Either way just executing the shot on the first try was awesome. :)
bro I always wanted you to try this one out, so glad you finally did! I still think even about 50 tries is ok on this shot, as it is just straight out of hell impossible shot, cant wait to give it like billion tries and then maybe be make it lol
Albin executed a fairly simple 3 cushion billiard shot. This confuses pool players because they don't understand what they're seeing. It's a 2 o'clock follow shot with a delay built into it. When the cue ball strikes the side rail, it looses a little forward momentum. The side spin is now more than the forward stroke, so it bites the top rail and heads back down table along the rail, it's intended path. It must be stroked, not poked. If this shot is not part of your 9 ball arsenal, you're a victim.
i know it’s a snooker shot, but a lot of guys there play a shot where they’re straight on a ball into the middle and screw back and use the aw of the middle plocket to come back up table. would love to see that!
What would be pretty cool to add when you make these videos, is a diagram of a cueball and where you hit the cue ball showing how much spin you put on the shot. Thanks!
The newness of the simonis cloth makes a huge difference. It is a 3 cushion billiard shot. Also, were the tables in the tournament heated? If so that would make it easier (ha, I know not an easy shot anyway). Great video though
There are so many variables and differences in circumstances at play here from where that pro player did that shot to from where you are trying to re-create an exact copy of it. What I am trying to say is; even albin ouschan himself would not be able to exactly replicate that shot on that table without trying many times, just like you did. He would get as close as you did perhaps with much fewer tries, but still...
In fairness Rollie, Ouschan was simply going for the general area and would've been happy with contact on either ball or getting position to pocket the 2 ball in the left corner--it's unlikely that he was trying to bump the two ball specifically to play in the near corner... I consider shot #15 to be a successful replication of the original shot.
To be honest I think that the outcomes you got for shot 40 and shot 42 are better than the pro example . . Even though it was unintended. For shot 40 in particular; I’m willing to bet that the pro would have preferred the way your layout looked
takeaway message: to get a shot on the 2 you don't neccessarily need to do what Albin did - he's stroke is just moster, the Revo shafts shines brighter then most CF shaft with those extreme spin shots, it's TV table table with much more dry conditions due to TV lights...
I think shot depends on lots of things like: your cues, cue tip, cloth table, balls, humid cloth and of coz your pool skill but can not forget a lucky also. Obviously Albin is great pool player. But i like Mika Immonen’s play style. He had a lot of trick shot too. P/s: Lot of respect for your trying :)
I think the shots where you hit the ball in front of the 2 ball was more what he was trying to do, or even the ones where you got a good shot on it in the bottom left corner. There’s no way he played that shot to do exactly what it did by grazing that 2 ball and leaving a lay up like that .?.?. Unless I’m totally wrong and he did mean to do exactly what he did.... In either case it was a beast of a shot, and nicely done replicating it as well as you did.
You also have to keep in mind that with most of these pro tournaments, the tables have new felt so English takes more than usual, the table is faster and the cue ball slides a lot.
Albin's shot is not a fluke, but neither was it planned to hit it exactly that way. He took a calculated risk to get the cue ball off those rails near the 2, possibly bumping one of the balls and ending up with some sort of shot or reasonable safety. The way they laid going that path, it's unlikely to end up snookering yourself, and if you do you'd be close to the ball with likely an easy 1 rail kick and great chance to kick safe. So it's a smart thing to try without a precisely certain outcome. Sometimes that's the best you got. I'd say in this video you succeeded multiple times, getting better than Albin on some, and well within the range of his intent
In all fairness. Table felt conditions, humidity, and level of polish on balls is likely making this near impossible to duplicate. Considering the layout of would think top inside going 3 rails leaves a more consistent repeatable breakout position on the 2. Good to know this is a possible way to getting position though.
Can we all acknowledge that Rollie paid the US Open 2020 $1000 entry fee to be absolutely destroyed? Press F to pay respects.

Ddxcv98 hes gonna surprise us watch !
It's 9 Ball: There's a chance, albeit a slim one.
He may not be so average!? 🤔
Ddxcv98 na he got this🙏🏾
“Shot 50, this is my baby... and I’m a terrible father” 😂😂😂
As someone who plays out of Society Billiards, I can attest to the fact that Rollie has been working on the drill he learned from Ralph Eckert in the previous video. Every so often you see a faint outline of a square left in the center of the table as a sort of "Rollie was here" calling card.
Rollie has a calling card? Supervillian arc?
that's actually badass
Whenever Rollie uploads a new video, my day gets a whole lot better.
The thing that stands out to me is that you follow through the cue ball a good 12" where as AO barely follows through at all. Either way it's a cracking shot and you did well to replicate it at all; I doubt many others, even pros, would do the same in many less shots than yourself. Hats' off sir.

Remember the pros are playing with way faster cloths
What cloth do the pros play with? Not Simonis?
It’s new too , that always helps
MegaPacosanchez think it is simonis
Was going to make that same comment but saw you beat me to it. New cloth slides different than older, "more experiencrd" cloth.
It is Somonis cloth. But agreed, newer cloth is COMPLETELY different than older cloth. Even 3 months makes a difference.
Also, if the balls are dirty or old that will affect a lot as well.
I reckon 40 was probably okay, as even a player like Ouschan was probably going for either/or rather than that specific contact on the 2.
This. I'm sure this is a percentage shot because as long as you don't hit the wrong side of the 2 it's likely that you'll get a position. That's why to me shot #40 is even better than the original shot.
Shot 40 was way more ideal
Shot 14 leaves a very easy bank shot that would give natural position on the 3.
"Shot 50, this is my baby"
Misses
"I'm a terrible father"
Stephen Grech even shot 52, he’s a good parent yet buries his kid in college debt. Oh, so close but not quite.
I've seen every video. The final cut reel has great explanations as to what works and what doesn't. Mad respect for sticking with it until you're able to replicate the shot exactly. I expect this will up your game quickly overall. You do a great job keeping it interesting with your humor and editing skills too, very nice!
For some reason the bloke leaving at 9:05 just seems to make things that much more amusing. 😂
Would've been even better if later in the video there was a guy sweeping up in the background 😀
Wow... the shot in the 1920s. Trying a shot for over a century? Now that’s commitment.
Rollie my man, u forgot to factor in the fact that Albin was playing on a brand new table with a brand new cloth. Basically, it plays a lot different than yours. New cloth means the balls skid/slide a bit more and it's also way faster.

Im so Glad you made a video recreating this shot of Albin Ouschan cause this shot is my favorite
It’s honestly just cool seeing your progress from video to video on how much better you’re getting with your shots.
cheers from Pamplona, Spain. Really appreciate all the hard work you put in to show us how to respect and enjoy the game! lot of fun!!
I love that mustard meter hahahaha
Some great shots at the start.
That must be almost a be a record for the number of attempts.
You really stuck with it and congrats for getting there in the end. 👍
Probably the best shot i have ever seen in terms of difficulty.. And one of the best in terms of looks and wow factor.
Please, please, pleeeease make more than 1 video in this series per 4 months! They are awesome!
Woaaahh!! Congratulations Rollie for getting into the championship... we'll be rooting for You!

nice shot from albin - blew my mind when i saw it the first time - truly an amazing shot!

This series can never get boring. Keep it up!
This is great. I admire your patience! Looks like Jasmine played that badass shot on a Chinese table with tight pockets!

“My baby is going to college” 😂 I’m actually dead. I love this
Great shooting. Feel like you basically got it on 40 but I would imagine Albin may have played to get on the 2 to bottom left like you did multiple times before that. Reckon you got his intention on shot 15. Great shot to watch and well done!
I love pool and learn a lot from even just watching these videos Rollie. Keep up the work brotha!
I've been trying this one as well. I'm currently on attempt 217. :/
🙈
Benjamin Gines
How many attempts did it take you?
1
Bob Bill sure
I did it yesterday at the first try in a Snooker Table
just another awesome video by Rollie always a good watch
Still waiting on that Alain Martel rail jump shot Rollie! You can do it brother! Great vid as always!
This is a really enjoyable video concept for billiards. I also owe Society Billiards one for hosting my party in their enclosed section too. 🎱👍
Love this series so much
I would take position you managed on shot 41 any day of the week and twice on Sunday! Probably what Albin was looking for as well.
Hard to tell from the angle, but I think Albin is bridging higher off the rail with a closed bridge, rather than right off the cushion. That will help with getting the top spin. On many of your shots you were hitting too low; I think it was because of the bridge.
Love these type of videos dude, good luck in the tournament.
MORE OF THIS PLEASE!!!!!!
Great stuff as always, Rollie! Best of luck at the US Open, and if you get the time and haven't yet, I'd like to see the Chris Melling 4-rail one-ball shot vs. Mika Immonen. Thanks, and keep up the great work!
That is a fine example of stun, then follow, then right spin. A new cloth makes this much easier.
“Everything is working together as a team to fuck me up”...🤣
Love this guy
You made that shot happen more than once...

Professional lessons, drunk history style, do it. Put these people on our level.
Love the new shaft. I ordered mine as a Christmas present, still waiting for delivery.

Thanks for the tip on GO Customs will take a look at them!
you really found your stride with this one man, keep it up
From the looks of that shot.
Outof curiosity how long do these shots take you real time?
i know it’s a snooker shot, but a lot of guys there play a shot where they’re straight on a ball into the middle and screw back and use the aw of the middle plocket to come back up table. would love to see that!
What would be pretty cool to add when you make these videos, is a diagram of a cueball and where you hit the cue ball showing how much spin you put on the shot.
Thanks!
My god I laughed my ass off at your commentary I instantly subscribe
Now that is some dedication.
how can I watch 2020 US Open (online)?
I don't mind to pay
dazn ;)
DAZN for real? I have it it will be streamed?
Guessed 18 and you said triple it so 52 vs 54 is as good of odds I’ll get. Great shot
The newness of the simonis cloth makes a huge difference. It is a 3 cushion billiard shot. Also, were the tables in the tournament heated? If so that would make it easier (ha, I know not an easy shot anyway). Great video though
It’s about time a video came out!
There are so many variables and differences in circumstances at play here from where that pro player did that shot to from where you are trying to re-create an exact copy of it. What I am trying to say is; even albin ouschan himself would not be able to exactly replicate that shot on that table without trying many times, just like you did. Awesome i remember asking you to try this shot thanks again great job keep it up!
To be honest I think that the outcomes you got for shot 40 and shot 42 are better than the pro example . . Even though it was unintended.
For shot 40 in particular; I’m willing to bet that the pro would have preferred the way your layout looked

I totally agree
Your consistency is getting better rollie.
I how you would have done on the same table at the same time. So many factors play in to how the cue ball reacts.
6:48 I can’t hold it 😂
That’s awesome that ur in the us open good luck bro
You are funny as (bleep) haha I'm now going to watch all your videos! :)
Shot 3 and 4 look like realistic alternatives for Ouchan’s trick shot
I think the clesn balls and slippery cloth he was playing on made a big difference in this shot...
Another brilliant video
Your going to do better than you think Rollie. Whoever has the ball is winning in this game.
You also have to keep in mind that with most of these pro tournaments, the tables have new felt so English takes more than usual, the table is faster and the cue ball slides a lot.
Dude your awesome Rollie.. love the vids
a great recreation of a tough shot
Albin's shot is not a fluke, but neither was it planned to hit it exactly that way. Considering the layout of would think top inside going 3 rails leaves a more consistent repeatable breakout position on the 2.
Good to know this is a possible way to getting position though.
This are the best videos everrrr
Great perseverence. Filerious, comments cracked me up 🤣😹
Love this!
