Hi, how should I interpret the tab? I know the chords but confused about the fingerpicking numbers.
There are many ways to play ukulele, the method I use is two-finger technique, which involves right-hand thumb (p) and index finger (i). For multiple notes, there are usually play with downward roll using p, or strum down with i, unless there are indicated by upward roll or upstrum which will be using i. For single notes, it will depend on the context. For 4th and 3rd strings, the most convenient will be using p. For 1st and 2nd strings, it will be i. But there will be some cases where we have to break this rule. Usually we have to look at the whole pattern of notes and consider the tempo of the piece before deciding either using p or i. There are NO fixed rule, any effective fingering is the best fingering.

I interpret the numbers on the tab as the frets on which I need to put my fingers (left hand). For example, looking at the first section/bar of the tab that starts with F chord: there's a 3 on the E string, so should I pluck the E string with my right hand while my left hand finger is on the third fret? If so, doesn't that change the chord from F to something else? And the same goes for Dm chord in the second section/bar: it goes from 3 to 1 on the E string; how should I interpret this? Thank you!
There are very few songs in this world that uses only the chord notes. If so, the song will be very dull and predictable. These notes are called non-harmony notes in music, which create tension, surprise, suspension and contrast to music. The chord doesn’t change, it just contains one of those non-harmony notes.

I am using a concert-size ukulele. The brand/model is aNueNue Lani II CE ukulele. But you can try other brands. There are many great brands out there.

I have not explored much about guitalele yet. But I do like the original settings (includes the standard tunings and tone colours etc) of both guitar and ukulele. That’s why my arrangements are all in standard tunings for both instruments.

请问potamento 和 hammer on是什么分别? Potamento是滑音吗? 只是滑吧了还是滑了也要弹?
Portamento 是滑音过后再弹第二个音。Hammer-on 是锤音，先弹第一个音，再用左手手指锤下第二个音。

Slur 其实是hammer-on 与 pull-off。滑音是Slide, 滑音的第二个音不必再用右手弹奏。而Portamento的第二个音则必须弹奏。
