I love the witness last words. It isnt angry. It isnt sad. Its just confused on why so many tiny specks to him would rally to a cause they knew little about to defeat him. And in the end now he is dying and utterly confused
WE… I… I don’t understand…. Iconic, and I’m guessing there is significance to it. It goes from “we” and a plural way of referring to itself the entire time we’ve known it to calling itself “I” and a singular being for the first time ever (thar I can find)…. 🧐🤔
Wish more people were talking about its last words. It’s incredibly symbolic. It says “we” at first like it’s always referred to itself, assuming all that it’s made of were on the same page. I’m it’s defeat though, it realizes this isn’t the case and it can’t speak for everyone, so the witness says “I” it’s a complete shift in understanding for the witness and one of my favorite lines ever.
So well delivered too… say what you want about his appearance but the witness is voiced so well

I think you need to see the witness as both a singular being but also a collective at the same time. by the time it dies its not longer a collective made up of many minds , its simply a being made up of itself. Its a hive mind that has lost its hive

Imagine if they kept it, the Ghost being dead? In canon, The Guardian becoming Lightless. Obviously, your Guardian would still have the Light but the character of The Guardian in the lore being Lightless. That's what I mean with that.
Also, that was the most emotional that our Guardian has ever gotten since Forsaken.

They could have made it so the gardener merged us with our ghost so we became the first ghostless light bearer

This dlc good and it’s the fact that the witness was powerful that they needed 12 online players to help you defeat the witness and I love how the guardian hugged ghost
I admit it, I cried like a baby. The ending was everything I could have hoped for. And the music at the end, when you’re sitting with the Vanguard? My heart soared. Also, I think Crow’s new look is sexy. 😏

I fucking called it. I knew our ghost would die, and I knew Cayde would bring it back or become it.
If it wasn't for Crow's wish, and Riven granting it with little to no twists to it, our Guardian would be Lightless in the lore.

We had Ergo Sum, and Ghost was already grievously injured. If that was going to happen, it was now.
i was so 50/50 at the scene because on one side i would love to have Cayde be our new Ghost, BUT on the other our Ghost has been with us since the beginning and it'd be criminal to lose him completely so i was tearing up seeing Cayde give his light to bring back our Ghost.
The ghost is always hiding and running for their lives and confronting the witness was to so that they are not running anymore so I like how this turned out

The music was really on point in these cutscenes.
The Witness has been unmade, but the reasons that led to his creation are still there. We are at square one, nice.
Honestly considering how long destiny is supposed to go on, this ending makes the most sense. At least it’s not just random stuff. Rather we’ve beaten the strongest and now can focus on fixing it to the core

The darkness saga ended, but i sense new troubles rising. We still havent left the solar system and i think we will.

The ending itself show a lot of loose ends, and not all of them.
Frikrul is missing, so is Eramis and house Salvation. The power vacuum left by the witness attracts new threats like Savathun and lucent brood trying to gain control of the Pale Heart. Xivu Arath and lesser no minions of the Witness went into hiding but are still scheming as always. The remaining worm gods are still doing their own thing.
However, the most important thing is the Traveler didn't come back to its original state and is still emitting the ominous aura of light and dark from its portal. And the reading and sightings of something leaving the Traveler and going out of the system after the Witness' defeat is the clue to the next step in Destiny's story. We'll probably going to investigate it and leave the system by the end D2's life cycle, leading to a new beginning with D3.
The Witness having Dissenters will also guarantee that there were some Fanatics in there to. With the Freedom of The Precursors, The Witnesses Greatest Followers may still try to enact its final will. I actually theorise that The Final Shape is universal inevitability, similar to Norse Mythology’s Ragnorok and that’s how we’ll segue into D3.
What about the vex? Maybe we finally go against their actual military. Since the light and dark saga ended its time for something devoid of both.

With the witness extinguished I wonder if the traveler will fully leave because our fight is over with the darkness. It could set our tech back and maybe we get the fantasy game they originally planned

What I don't get, is that everything that was done for the traveler, all the sacrifices, it couldn't just bring Ghost back and made Cayde sacrifice himself... The traveler is a giant POS that only helped because it was being hurt.

Halo was so much better than this. Destiny is a game I desperately want to love but I can't because all its moral themes are so weird and backwards. It's genuinely creepy to me.

This is the cutscene shown after the 12 player matchmade excision found to the right if the raid on the map, you just need to beat the campaign to unlock it I believe

I went into more detail but that last dialogue when you are observing the traveler in space hints that something came out of the Traveler upon the Witness' defeat and went out of the Solar System. Next step should be dealing with smaller threats that remain in Sol, then D3 will probably kick it out with us leaving the Solar System while looking for whatever escaped from the Traveler.
It's certain that the Witness was only another pawn of the Darkness, the true Darkness/The Winnower. The next Saga should be a new beginning wherever it may be.

@@ayobeemo8117 i find it's last words very fitting. this whole time it believed it was doing the ultimate kindness, saving existence, ending all suffering. and we rejected it. it failed in achieving the goal that it drove itself to extinction to pursue, it says it doesn't understand because it doesn't get why we would reject what it sees as a noble and kind objective
