I used to work in a pharmacy and quite a few women came in with viagra prescriptions and the pharmacist told me she takes it as well because its just a good medication for the heart in general due to blood flow but because of the technical side effect men don't get it prescribed it that often.
Viagra (Sildenafil) is a pulmonary vasodilator. The pulmonary vessels (artery & vein) are isolated from the rest of the cardiovascular system (blood enters the right side of the heart, then leaves to go into the pulmonary vessels to oxygenate, before returning to the left side of the heart, to exit a different way to travel around the body). Therefore, this system has its own blood pressure different from the rest of the body's blood pressure. Altering blood flow and blood pressure in someone with a penis can affect erections for obvious reasons.
