Hi Katya! For me, moving my body is hard because I was a fat kid that was forced to exercise as punishment. I did not have any models of people who made moving fun. So even when I am having fun moving as an adult .... the increased heart rate and other exercise feelings give me a big old trauma response.
i was a tiny kid but my sister is a big gorl and we also had to exercise as punishment. my dad would sit and watch us do exercise videos and yell at us if we got tired or did something wrong. keep in mind this man has no idea about healthy weight loss or anything of that nature - he fixes air conditioners for a living. that being said i am very sorry you went through the exercise as punishment too - movement is a natural part of being human, it can be so healing and to have that ripped from you so young is awful. i am still struggling with motivating myself to exercise. you aren’t alone!
@@Corn22 I learned how to swim as an adult cause that was one form of movement that wasn’t used against me. I’m 55 and although I’m having a great time, when my heart starts beating faster with the effort my chest muscles clamp down and I can barely breath. So I stop. Until I can go again. 🤷🏻♂️

My garbage disposal broke several years ago, but I haven't replaced it. I just use my Vitamix. I often put an entire chicken carcass (minus the meat) in the Vitamix, turn it into liquid, and put it right down the toilet!

Honestly? Katya’s advice for leaving and coming back in to your workout space is EXTREMELY intriguing to me. I have been really struggling with quarantine fitness without access to my usual routines (CrossFit... like one of THOSE gays) and my mental well-being struggled a lot. Planet Fitness with never cut it and running in NYC ain’t it. This was a really clever idea I’m going to try.
I also really appreciate the nuanced conversation about our relationship to workout routines and our bodies. I needed this today. Thank you.

i’m always so into these podcasts and love them so much that when they’re over, it barely feels like any time has passed. like i was sitting and listening to them while i was eating dinner and they just said “i think we’ve said enough”, i just looked at the clock and realize that i’m now 20min late for work. i thought like 10, 15min, AT MOST had passed and they just had a short episode but when i just looked at the time, a whole ass 45min has gone by. and now, i’m scrambling to get ready to leave so that i won’t be even more late than i already am. 😅🙃🤷🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️😳
