    love this guy, he's the most candid and real guy on the tour, in a sense, i think nick's a breath of fresh air in todays tour where all young players model after fedal (not saying that's bad). Just cuz he got talent out of this world does not mean he needs to live out the wet dream some hardcore fans have for him. Nick plays tennis to live, not live for tennis and i dont see anything wrong with that

      I am not sure I have seen a bigger waste of talent than this guy in tennis. His talent is Hall of Fame standard. But the consistency of his application is probably not even top 200. My prediction: he will get to 30 years old and have a mental realisation and have a good couple of years but probably it will be a bit late. It may even not be until 40 years old that he mentally matures. By then if hes got anything about him he will realise that 'Damn, I had tonnes of talent'.

      @@mnb9162 Kyrgy has a top 10 serve and a top 20 feel for the ball. However, as we see with Monfils, he lacks the tennis intelligence to perform at the highest level. If you get Kyrgy in a rally of 15 or more shots, you will win 90% of the points. Getting to more than 6 shots a rally is the toughest thing about Kyrgy or Monfils.
      Also, a lot of Monfils and Kyrgy's style relies on athleticism which means they tire quicker than other players. He should be able to stay top 50 easy and with a little effort push for top 20. However, his weaknesses will always defeat him in the end against the truly great tacticians and technicians.

      He isn't a bad kid. He is just a touch lost mentally. Definite mental problems that probably haven't been diagnosed. Can be difficult to deal with as he will be confident and slightly arrogant in thinking he is in control. In general he just needs time and he will mature.

      @@mnb9162 It´s a pity as he has some much potential to beat the top players which he has and even pick a couple of trophies if he took his matches seriously and have a goal of becoming the best tennis player in the world. • @aahyes9068
      @aahyes9068 Před 4 lety +1

      Not really. I basically only glance at Kyrgios matches to check in and confirm that -- yep -- he's still a massive douche pretty much all of the time a camera or a microphone is there to capture it. The few times I'll watch more is if his opponent is particularly fun to watch. Good to see even the 18-yr-old was evidently pretty well aware of the m.o. and able to ignore that relentless desperation to distract that makes up about 95% of NK's effort.
      The main issue I have with NK is that he rarely wins on skill but rather, on drama & dragging everyone else down to his level of inconsistency. Any of his contemporaries could swing wildly, showboat and get lucky often enough to be dubbed prodigious by neophytes, while blaming their losses on anything besides themselves, but they're nearly always too mature, and love tennis too much to do that. For me, that makes them (i.e. just about anyone in the top several hundred) more entertaining to watch play.
      I've already seen bratty insecurity before, and I find it tedious and pathetic, not thrilling. It's also very predictable in Nick's case. It's not as interesting to watch play out over and over as good tennis is, speaking for myself.

      eh. i think his skills are in shot making. And if ur only skill is cheesing the opponent, you're not gonna get very far even if you did try. The reason Federer is considered the best in the world is because he's got both cheese and the regular pro play style. The reason why Rafa is one of the greatest in the world is because he has the drive to get every ball back into the court and play that one extra ball that you wouldn't to win the point. If Nadal or Federer are losing, they're mentally mature enough to ask himself why and switch up their game style to give them the win.
      I think Nick is a very talented player... but if he doesn't start to work on his mentality, he's never gonna be the best. "he probably does" is not the way to respond to someone telling your opponent they're gonna win. You either ignore it, or prove them wrong. This game is just as much mental (if not more) as physical.

    Gosh what has happened to Kyrgios? Props to Felix I know he’s good and all, but I remember when Kyrgios was my favorite player because he was explosive. He had a big serve and a big forehand. But now it’s like it’s all gone. Like he’s forgotten how he did that. Now Felix is slowly becoming my favorite player, he’s 18 and shows a lot of potential.

    Imo Nick could probably be top 10 cause I think he is such a good player and you see what he can do in the games against Federer, kinda sad that he doesn't play like this all the time. I really like what he brings to the sport apart from his behaviour for example in Rome, but I do like the fact that he doesn't play like everyone else and I don't mind that he uses the underarm serve so often, I actually like it cause imo it is not disrespectful, I'd say it's a tactic. At the end of the day it is his decision how he plays, I wish he'd play a bit more serious but if he doesn't care, what can you do

    While many people hate on Kyrgios for not trying at times, I actually respect him for doing that. He probably realized that caring too much will make him easily pissed off like it did in the past. Now he just plays for the sake of enjoying the experience and toying with his opponent by hitting back easy balls, even if it means losing. It makes him more entertaining when he carelessly hit the ball back and wins the point.

    He obviously missed the last point on purpose even though the ball was within his reach. He just wanted to get out of the tournament, maybe because of medical issues, or maybe he was just bored, as he often is. My hunch is that he figured out he didn't want to (or couldn't) play the next game, so he decided to make a gentlemanly gesture and let young Felix through to the next round.
