I'm a Green Brigade member. I'm also Irish. I live in Parkhead Glasgow. The rangers used to get over 18,000 tickets for Celtic park up until Celtic rebuilt their ground in the late 90's. Remember the rangers won 9 titles in a row during this period. After the rebuild Celtic gave the rangers the same amount of tickets as Celtic got for Ibrox, 7,500. A few years ago the rangers couldn't cope with Celtic winning and reduced our ticket allocations to 800. Celtic fans were then attacked the rangers couldn't guarantee our fans safety. So the rangers basically took the huff. They let their club die Hail Hail from Parkhead ✌️💚🇮🇪

Atmosphere amazing
The away fans issue wasn't to do with safety initially - when Rangers got back into the top tier and weren't very good, Celtic gave them multiple impressive beatings at Ibrox and they were fed up with having a full stand of Celtic fans in party mode so they reduced it. They've tried allowing the minimum amount (700/800) but Celtic fans aren't safe in the corner at Ibrox with fans getting hit with bottles and coins so until arrangements can be made which allow Celtic fans to attend Ibrox safely, this is where we are.
At least they smashed the toilets after getting smashed off Celtic 🤣

2:46 there was a movement from a section of Celtic supporters pre 2012 to stop using the OF term because the media used it link us to them. Every time they caused trouble somewhere, it was OF fans, and two sides of one coin etc. the club still used it until 2012.
I personally stopped using it around, maybe 2010. It was the hun game after that.

You perpetrate a myth here. Rangers were not downgraded to the fourth tier. the company who bought the assets started a new club ,initially called Sevco,and applied to join the Scottish league. The SFA approved their application and they begn life in the fourth tier. They werent relegated there, they started life there

Sevco applied to join the SPL in 2012 not Rangers
It was rejected by all clubs except Rangers FC
Then Sevco applied to join SFL & was placed into SFL3
Under SFA articles of association, Sevco then became an official football club.
Sevco then changed it's name to Rangers

Rangers did not survive liquidation. Once operations ceased there was no club. There was no take over, the assets of the former club/company were purchased and a new one launched.
But they still managed to keep everything and carry on as normal Paul didn't they 😊

So, not really, and there’s also the ignominious relegation served as punishment for ‘ shenanigans’ dished out by the football authorities.

I was born in Southampton, to Glaswegian parents, so I've grown up supporting and attending both Celtic & Southampton games my entire life. I was also at the Glasgow Derby last Saturday, and agree that no match compares to that game in Europe. However, if you get a chance to go to Southampton Portsmouth, I would thoroughly recommend it. Chance if Portsmouth get promoted (top currently) and Saints don't (50/50 in my opinion) they play next season. I'm bias, but I don't see any English rivalries being higher than the South Coast derby, purely down the fact we don't play eachother very often. You did a great job of reading into the history of the Glasgow Derby, and current situation which was really impressive. It's more than geographical for the South coast derby also, a lot goes back to Dockyard strikes a century ago, and the workers hatred for each other merging into football over the years. Great vlog, all the best.

It’s amazing how different you see the match when you’re there versus when you rewatch it on tv.
At the game I was nervous and thought rangers were slightly the better side, without really creating a lot.
I rewatched it on tv and Celtic totally dominated the game.
Interesting I was at the game up in the nose bleeds blue section . I thought we absolutely dominated most of the game . Quite comfortable actually

Sevco didn't step in to save Rangers. It was an off-the-shelf shell company used to create the new club that became The Rangers Football Club (established 2012). It's the same stadium, colours, supporters, culture (🙄). What it is most definitely not, is the same club. We know it, they know it, the Scottish media knows it, but it's a truth that must not be spoken for fear of the consequences.
It's Celtic ,it's Rangers and we all know it. All the bitterness in peoples brains that you aptly emphasise here.

4:39 rangers cut Celtics allocation to the same allocation they give every other club because a rangers fan started a petition to stop the club giving Celtic away tickets. Lots of fans signed it. They were unhappy watching Celtic win at Poundland and have a party with the fans.
Rangers fans thought this was a great idea. Obviously assuming Celtic wouldn’t reciprocate in kind.
Celtic then refused tickets for Poundland because rangers fans were on both sides and above and continually threw bottles and coins. They also throw bottles at Celtic staff. Celtic captain Scott brown was once attacked on the pitch by a rangers fan and rangers fans wanted to crowdfund to pay his legal fees.
Rangers also refused Chris Sutton entry to Poundland to commentate on a game for BT because they “couldn’t guarantee his safety”. Conversely, ally McCoist and Kris Boyd have commentated at Celtic park on numerous occasions.
After that Celtic said they wouldn’t take tickets until the original allocation was returned, and rangers wouldn’t be getting tickets for Celtic park.

Great Vlog Comrade. On why Old Firm doesnae exist and why we now play in Glasgow Derby. This was so messy it could have tore UEFA part. They didn't intervene and left the SFA and Scottish football to sort. This was on account that the EBTs meant on the night Rangers played in UEFA CuP Final in Manchester May 2008 - 10 out of the starting 11 was on “double contracts”. Around the time of this insolvency Celtic was allowed back in to Champions League Qualifiers on account a club that knocked us out had played one player on a “double contract”. This was critical in shaping our opinions on this matter.
The rules of insolvency under Scotts Law mean that when a Company goes Bankrupt that transfer of assets to new company means the branding can not be the same as insolvent company.
Those who owed money can go for newco if there marketable branding is similar between to old and new co. For instances if ASDA was to go Bankrupted and behaved the same. Those who are owed money can go to the courts; and claim “this is newco entity is the same as OldCo. This newco owe us that debt because they haven't liquidated honestly”.
Proper procedure should have forbid Rangers for using anything relating to branding of the OldCo. Also, those owed money can also go for an OldCo business partners if they are operating under former business relationships in the NewCo. This is why the Celtic Board ensure they own the “TC rights of Old Firm” to ensure that issue never bites them.
The model of Rangers insolvency was based on what happened to Airdrie and Clydebank in the early 2000s. TheRangers 2012 first Press officer was a BBC and Daily Wrecker hack called Jim Traynor. For a decade after his beloved Airdrie died he refused on air every weekend to recognise the phoenix club that came out of that particular insolvency. The irony is he became the mouthpiece of opposite case for Sevco.
It's common practice across world football that a club that goes through insolvency of out right bankruptcy have to take on aspects of different identity. Technically TheRangers 2012 using things like “1872”, “Old Firm”; and “55” should mean HMRC going to courts requesting the new enity stump up the “Queens Money”.
This is the true irony of it. Glasgow Rangers supposedly hold a proud identity with British Royalism. The “HM” in “HMRC” means “Her Majesty”. In other words, The Queens Clubs didnae pay the Queens Taxes.
Lastly it's important we start still with this was a shocking piece of “Financial Sporting Doping”. As long as former Celtic players say they was “cheated out of success” from this corruption I will back the stance that the Old Firm is dead, Rot In Hell Glasgow Rangers 1872-2012. “Liquidate your club, you have liquidated your history.”

You absolutely nailed it in explaining the political/demographic/ and religious aspect, although, I, and a great many other non catholics are committed to this wonderful institution.
The petty ticket situation is actually embarrassing, as it’s gone on for so long now, and most people agree ( from whichever side of the fence), that it does detract from the overall atmosphere, certainly in my opinion.
You will get those who disagree, which is their right, but, having attended a great many games at my ripe old age now, it’s clearly quite different.
It’s ironic, but, the’ safety’ argument has come much more to the foreground with
Significantly less fans from each able to attend, and are hemmed in a tight space, as opposed to having a large section of the stadiums. The result of that is the home fans have a vastly numerical advantage, and, I emphasise some fans feel emboldened to step over the line with the missiles etc.
This certainly didn’t occur nearly so much with the prior allocations.
I understand that in Rangers fans case, they have a gripe that they are seated in a corner, as opposed to Celtic fans occupying the entire Broomloan road stand, which affords a better view.
Having said that, it was like that for years, most visiting fans were just glad to be there behind their team, and, there were some absolutely classic encounters, with both sides winning and losing at home on different occasions.
The point is though, that these games had incredibly intense atmospheres.
There’s no doubt in most folks minds that these games were special for BOTH
Sides on many occasions.
Yes there are many many thousands of Celtic Supporters that are not catholic and there are many many thousands of Celtic Supporters that are protestant but the one thing they all are , are , Celtic Supporters Hail Hail from a lapsed Catholic

The Huns could not take being pumped, out supported, out sung and out played at Greyskull, so dropped Celtics ticket allocation to 0. Made no difference really because even with no Celtic supporters at Ipox, the pumping still goes on.

I'm a Celtic supporter who isn't put off by the use of the term "Old Firm". I understand why many/most Celtic fans oppose it. Let's be honest, we're just taking the piss.
In my view, the old Rangers bottled their finances. Rangers supporters revolted (largely through apathy). Ownership and management changed. The club did their penance.
I hate Rangers as much as any self respecting Celtic fan should do (I expect nothing less from Rangers fans in return). But, I'm objective enough to believe that if the situation were reversed, Celtic fans would be clinging defiantly to tradition.
They didn't pay the face painter ,because that wasn't the same club apparently. The hypocrisy from sevco ,rainjurs is astounding. They want the history but they don't want to pay the debts. They should never have been allowed back . Disgusting club 😂😂🇮🇪🇮🇪
Away fans should be allowed back. Rangers should be given the East stand directly behind the goal. The standing section should be moved to the entire West stand.

@@JBigjake since Ibrox was redeveloped the Celtic fans have had the entire Broomloan Rd stand, directly behind the goal. When Parkhead was redeveloped the Rangers fans were put in the corner, out of sight of the telly. One of the best sights in football WAS the Celtic fans celebrating a victory or a goal at Ibrox, whereas the Rangers fans were tucked away in the corner out of sight.

The label " old firm " came about in the early part of the 20th century, it basically was coined to imply the clubs were business partners. It was, and is a slight on all three clubs. Fans from both sides were sick of it before the event of 2012.

They were sick of being humilated on their own patch by thousands of happy, singing, joyful Celtic fans celebrating another win and like spoiled little children they put a stop to it.
