  • More with Terry Wogan, Joanna Lumley, Gareth Thomas, David Jason, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Tessa Sanderson and Sue Cook. In a remote from Leeds where Michael Cook introduces Denby the Robot, the symbol for that year's Children in Need (LOL 1980s robotics...just as well they replaced him with Pusdey the following year!)

The late great Lennard Pearce. Wonderful actor and personality. Sorely missed.

I do miss this sort of TV - yes it doesn't have the bells and whistles of today - but there was something genuine and warm about it, which we seem to have lost - Everything has to be so polished these days

Lennard died on 15th December 1984, just eight weeks before his 70th birthday and this was recorded 3 weeks before he suddenly and unexpectedly died. It was his last ever TV appearance.

Poor Lennard Pearce only had about three weeks to live.

This is the only time that we hear Lennard Pearce speak posh because he has stepped out of the character of Granddad. David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst always missed working with Lennard, after his death.

Buster Merryfield's accent was totally different to Uncle Albert too.

Great celebs doing their best to try and hurdle over Wogans titanic ego, shame they didn't actually talk about things properly, I wanted to hear more from the late great Lennard Pearce!

She hasn't been on our screens for years, i don't know why. She recently talked how her worked dried up years ago and never returned. TV is crap these days.

Terry Wogan loves the sound of his own voice doesn't he. I think he thinks this is the Terry Wogan show. What an arrogant individual.

I've always felt that way about him. He's got a great voice for radio but he's such a prat.
