Nick McGarvey the spines in the disc were damaged because they were not fully engaged with the transmission input shaft. Had I flipped the disc around ( backwards) , the engagement would have been perfect. These are the things we learn from Frankenstein builds. I used a 4Runner clutch set. If you use a 2nd gen turbo mr2 clutch, the install is straightforward and you should have no issues.
Nick McGarvey hell yeah. The w58 will be fine as long as you don’t do 6k rpm clutch dumps. Repetitive torque shock like that would even kill a r154. I’ve completed five 1uz swaps with w58’s and the w58’s are all holding up well.
@@yotarip Glad to hear, I'd much rather use the W58 than a super expensive transmission that no one actually likes to use. Thanks for all your input on these crazy builds.
Thanks for all this life saving info...can't wait for my project to get rolling

Hey what's up I have a Lexus GS430 it has the 3UZFE. Do you have any recommendation on how to make that vehicle manual 6 speed.
So your 3uz chewed this up, right?
I have a 1uz vvti and a steel plate W58, just trying to learn what I'm in for.

@@yotarip Yeah, thanks, I did see what you explained. So otherwise the W58 is doing fine behind all that torque I take it.
