Pete Turned me onto secret treaties which has become my favourite BOC and maybe one of my favourite albums, every track is interesting and some are absolute killers
It's also unusual where the isn't really any 'silence' between tracks, almost like a 35 minute piece of music. Just makes the experience better. My favourite Cult album, with Spectres close behind.
This band is so versatile if they were giving out awards for the most versatile band I would nominate them
I’m surprised nobody mentioned Imaginos. I think it’s a masterpiece. I don’t care about the strange history of how it came to be. If this is just about the records and the quality, especially if you’re into the heavy side of the band, you have to give it up for Imaginos. It’s the hard laft turn that took them into their third act
I like it a lot too. It wouldn't be in my top 5 just because there are others I like better, but it would probably be number 7 or 8.
For me:
1. Spectres
2. Secret Treaties
3. Cultosaurus Erectus
4. Fire of Unknown Origin
5. Mirrors
1)Fire of an unknown Origin
2)Debut
3) Tyranny & Mutation
4)Secret Treaties
5)Agents Of Fortune
1. Fire of Unknown Origin
2. The Revolution by Night
3. Spectres
4. Club Ninja
5. Tyranny and Mutation
6. Blue Öyster Cult
7. The Symbol Remains
8. Mirrors
9. Agents of Fortune
10. Heaven Forbid
1. Secret Treaties
2. Fire of unknown Origin
3. Cultosaurus Erectus
4. Mirrors
5. Blue Oyster Cult self titled debut
Loved this episode! I was going to say that I could listen to Martin and Pete talk BÖC all day, but the truth is that I could probably listen to almost anyone who’s a genuine fan talk BÖC all day.
My top five haven’t really shifted much in the past 40 years or so.
1. Spectres
2. Mirrors
3. Fire of Unknown Origin
4. Agents of Fortune
5. Cultosaurus Erectus
Tyranny and Mutation is my favorite of the black-and-white albums, but I like The Symbol Remains as well as any of those. In reality, there isn’t a bad BÖC album.
Great episode! BÖC is one of my two top favourite bands. My top 5:
1. Secret Treaties
2. Tyranny and Mutation
3. Blue Öyster Cult
4. Agents of Fortune

1. Fire of Unknown Origin
2. Cultosaurus Erectus
3. Spectres
4. Secret Treaties
5. Agents of Fortune
A great, great band, full of creation & outstanding musicians. I'll go ; 1. Spectres. 2. Secret Treaties 3. Fire Of Unknown Origin 4. Cultosaurus Erectus 5. Blue Oyster Cult (Debut) ... many others not far behind.

1.Tyranny and mutation
2. Fire of unknown origin
3. Secret treaties
4.Agents of fortune
5. The Symbol remains.
Very hard to pick really as most of their albums are pretty consistent quality wise !
"Teen Archer" is the most underrated song in the BOC catalog.
I'd go Death Valley Nights myself, but Teen Archer is up there. Love it live!
Great show , love this group 👍
Nice conversation. And it’s QuickLIME Girl!
As mentioned in the show, BOC newbie here.
I'm seeing B.O.C. in a few weeks in Boston, and looking forward to talking to longtime fans that know a LOT about their studio albums and have seen them numerous times. I bought the first album when I was 15 and proceeded to tell every one of my friends about their amazing sound, which isn't easy to do...but I tried. I wore out the first three masterpieces before I saw them during the Agents of Fortune tour when people were trying to grab the green lasers that looked like solid tubes around their heads...this was before they banned all that stuff, fearing it was too dangerous. Fuck it, don't fear the green lasers!! I was so amazed I will never ever forget that surreal feeling. O.K., that's where it started and I won't go through the following decades, which had their highs and lows, but right up until their recent and most likely last masterpiece. Can't wait to see them play some of it.

5. Agents Of Fortune
4. Heaven Forbid
3. Cultosaurus Erectus
2. Spectres
1. SECRET TREATIES( All time top 5 album for me)

1: Secret Treaties
2: Fire of Unknown Origin
3: Spectres
4: Cultosaurus Erectus
5: Blue Oyster Cult (S/T)
My least favorite album is Heaven Forbid, but I'd still give that a 7/10. My love started in the summer of 1981 when one of my brothers brought home an album, with a cool looking cover, called Fire of Unknown Origin. I own an actual glossy picture, which I framed, of that cover. I want a glossy of the first album cover to frame.
1. Fire of Unknown Origin
2. Agents of Fortune
3. Secret Treaties
4. Spectres
5. Imaginos
1. Cultosaurus Erectus
2. Secret Treaties

My 4 and 5 always seem to rotate with Cultasarus Erectus and The Symbol Remain. My top 3 has always been the same for years, with Fire and AOF always rotating in the top 2 spots.
Great episode! For me its:
1. Secret Treaties
2. Spectres
3. Mirrors
4. Agents of Fortune
5. Fire of Unknown Origin (completely agree with Martin on "After Dark"!)
Great episode gentlemen! Welcome to the BOC catalog Hack! Some great picks. My only disappointment is that no one picked the self-titled debut.
That’s my number 5 I think it’s a great album cities on flame with rock n roll, then came the last days of May, before the kiss a redcap, Transmaniacon MC, Stairway to the stars are my favorites on the album
Saw them twice. 1973 backup for Savoy Brown. 1976 backup for Uriah Heep. Both very good but liked the 1973 the best because of the venue. Around 600 capacity.
My favorite outfit easy. My top 5 move around, but I'd go:
1. Secret Treaties
2. Spectres
3. On Your Feet
4. Agents of Fortune
5. Cultasaurous
For me, this is a relatively easy exercise: #1-#3 are absolute classics.
1. Secret Treaties
2. Blue Oyster Cult
3. Tyranny And Mutation
4. Agents Of Fortune
5. Spectres
Your list is about as close to my list as possible. Great choices, brother.

5. Mirrors
4. Revolution By Night
3. Fire Of Unknown Origin
2. Club Ninja
1. Imaginos
I've always loved the live versions of the songs from the earlier albums, I have trouble putting them in a top 5 list.
Thank you Martin, I love After Dark!!! Amazing guitar solo
Secret Treaties, Tyranny , Fire of Unknown Origin, Cultosaurus, Self titled.. I have really grown to love Club Ninja lately, and album I didn't like ever before.
Wonderful show with great and knowledgeable guests in Martin and Pete. Blue Oyster Cult is an amazing rock band where not one album sounds the same as any other. Individual songs within each album, all sound different. Thanks to different writers, singing, and eclectic playstyles. Blue Oyster Cult can do it all and do it all well. B○C is my favorite rock band, and my top 5 list as of now is:
1. Fire of Unkown Origin
(these are all tight)
2. Agents of Fortune

3) Secret Treaties
4) Agents of Fortune
5) Tyranny and Mutation
Runners-up are Heaven Forbid and Spectres
You mentioned the harmonies: I've always described them as the Evil Beach Boys.
The Beach Boys were an influence
@halfabee64 Check out the bridge section in Golden Age of Leather - it's got a lot in common with the opening verse of Good Vibrations.
Yes ... Golden Age of Leather would be the result of The Beach Boys after an occult evening on Hawthorn beach in the late 1960s ....
"Revolution by Night" was 1983
1) Secret Treaties
2) Tyranny & Mutation
3) Fire Of Unknown Origin
4) Blue Oyster Cult
5) Agents of Fortune, Heaven Forbid, The Symbol Remains (tie)
My first BOC LP was Secret Treaties and then On Your Feet Or On Your Knees (live double album). Saw them twice in 1976 during my High School years and they were beyond outstanding. The second time included the famous BOC laser light show. My first concert was Aerosmith, second concert was Led Zeppelin and BOC was probably my third or fourth concert and they were far better live than the aforementioned groups.
Wow for once I agree with martin on everything ,and the vigil my fav song clasd
Got into BOC in the 70's from my older brother who liked them. Really like all the albums up to and including Fire of UO - after that is hit and miss. Top 5 is: 1. Secret Treaties, 2. Cultosaurus Erectus, 3. Fire of UO, 4. Debut, 5. Tyranny and Mutation. Love the heavier rock stuff. Didn't originally like Mirrors, but Like Pete, have warmed up to it.
Easy 1. Fire of unknown origin 2. Cultasaurus 3. Secret treaties
Great episode. Mine:
1. Fire of Unknown Origin
2. The Symbol Remains
3. Specters

5. Agents of Fortune
🌠Good Video Guys....
Before watching:
1 Tyranny & Mutation
2 Secret Treaties
3 Spectres
4 Cultosaurus Erectus
5 Heaven Forbid/Mirrors (tie)
Mirrors took years for me to appreciate.
Great choices guys. I’m not a big metal fan but I’ve always loved Blue Oyster Cult’s music because they encompass so much more than most heavy metal bands.
My favourites are:
1. Spectres
2. Secret Treaties
3. Fire Of Unknown Origin
4. Cultosaurus Erectus
5. The Symbol Remains
"Fire of Unknown Origin" is the correct #1 not even close
Amen brother
1 Fire of Unknown Origin
2. Tyranny & Mutation
3. Secret Treaties
4. Cultosaurus Erectus
5 Blue Oyster Cult
Yeah, no 7 Screamin Diz Busters for me either 🤣

@@roydemarais i get it and i dont care
1. Secret Treaties
2. Tyranny & Mutation
3. Agents of Fortune
4. Cultosaurus Erectus
5. Blue Oyster Cult
They are an acquired taste for sure. If looking for an album to review that you may not have heard, Colin James - Bad Habits.
Agree on After Dark. LOVE IT
BÖC is one of my favorite bands, and made some of my favorite songs, but I never liked their albums! But if I had to pick an album, I'd go with Spectres.
Awesome show, Hack! And kudos for putting Heaven Forbid in your top five, such a great album…and Fireworks rules, LOVE that song. Cheers
My Top 5 BöC albums
1. Spectres 👻
2. Cultosaurus Erectus
3. Secret Treaties
4. Mirrors
5. Club Ninja 🥷
Good for you with Club Ninja. It's underrated to this day.
@russellgentile4719 Yeah! I have always love it 🥷
@Redrum1981 in your honor, I just put it on to listen while I go to bed.
It brings me right back to 1986 and when I first bought it. Awesome!
Going by my playlist, I have more songs from Club Ninja than any other BOC album. That one and Mirrors are very underrated albums.
Fire of Unknown Origin
Spectres
Cultosaurus Erectus
The Symbol Remains
Mirrors
Nailed a lot about BOC there Pete in those opening few minutes, try & pigeon hole these guys, try & find another band that sounds anything like them over the whole discography, no chance ...
1. Secret Treaties
2. Cultosaurus Erectus
3. Fire of Unknown Origin
4. Spectres
5. Agents of Fortune
The Marshall Plan !
“The Revolution By Night” has 2 of my favorite BOC songs (“Take Me Away” and “Shooting Shark”) but the rest of the album is subpar, IMO. That could’ve been a classic.
Shadow of California is a great song.
Great show and topic and guests Mr Guitar Hack! Thank you!
Mine are 1. Secret Treaties. 2. Blue Oyster Cult. 3. Tyranny And Mutation. 4. Heaven Forbid. 5. Agents Of Fortune. Spectres has been growing on me. Songs like R U Ready 2 Rock & Golden Age Of Leather are better live. I've tried to like Mirrors since it came out but other than The Vigil, I Am The Storm & Great Sun Jester it's very weak & disco-poppish sounding. Maybe There's hope for you Martin now that Mirrors is falling from #1. 7 Screaming Diz Busters is a great rocker.
Have you guys done a top 5 Judas Priest?
Yes. Check the Album Rankings Playlist.
CULTOSAURUS ERECTUS Masterpiece
Funny about BOC, the production on many of their albums isn’t really that great, it’s rather thin until “Fire of Unknown Origin”.
Cultosaurus Wrecks?
wtf is a "dizz buster"??
I really did think Martin may have gone for Club Ninja 😂
Club Ninja really isn't a terrible album. It holds up well for an 80's rock album.
You’re not the one sounds like a Fountains of Wayne tune
40-seconds intro with countdown and multiple title screens… just cut to the chase, guys. This isn’t TV.
BOC are the biggest nothing burgers in music but they have really good singles (3).
Top 40 is not always the goal. Nothing burger bands do not last 50 years, and their influence continues to this day.
1. Fire of Unknown Origin
2. Secret Treaties
3. Cultosaurus Erectus
4. Spectres
5. Debut
1. Spectres
2. Secret Treaties
3. Blue Öyster Cult
4. Cultosaurus Erectus
5. Fire of Unknown Origin
