- Welcome to Network Engineer Pro. I'm Rafael, CCIE 64356. Are you studying for certifications like the CCNA, CCNP or even the CCIE ? Are you ready to get labbing in EVE-NG with Cisco IOSv Router and Switch Images ?
In this video I show you step by step how to download Cisco Modeling Labs (CML) IOSv Router and Switch images and how to upload them to the EVE-NG VM. I then show you how to build a simple topology with those new images. If you are just starting out in networking or maybe you are going for those expert level exams, labbing is critical for success. EVE-NG is a great tool to help.

this series is the best guide I've seen on youtube for setting up EVE-NG thank you!
Hey thanks, and thanks for watching!
Great bro!!!
Fabulous.
Truly glad to you for this lecture about images installation process for network engineer.
Good luck from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
It's my pleasure
Thanks so much for the 3 parts , they are awesome.
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
So helpful! Thanks so much
Anytime my friend thank you.
Thank you very much. You did great job. Very interesting.
Thanks !
God bless you!
Thank you. It works.
You're welcome!
Hi Rafael, Thank you for the great content. Can you do a video on Integrating Eve-ng Topology with VM Ware Networks?
Hey Zain, thanks for the positive feedback glad you liked it. Sure i’ll do one on it in the future.
Hello again - I was wondering if you have ever tried adding Trex and the WAN Emulator that comes with CML. I was reading the EVE doc, but I wasn't able to find anything related to these non-cisco VM images
Hey, I haven't tried to use them yet but now I'm curious. I think they are Linux so maybe they can be deployed as Linux host in EVE. I want to try and test it one of these days.
please link for cisco8000 router image
Do you have a video doing the same thing, but with GNS3?
I don't have any GNS3 videos currently, I mainly use EVE-NG but I will start putting out some GNS3 content soon.
Did you purchase the license before downloading the file from cisco?
I believe i had to pay first before i was able to download.
Thank you Mr. Jose, once I purchase the ISO from CML, do I have lifetime access to use the ISO that I downloaded on my workstation. I see access Duration:
365 days
Who is Jose lol? The refplat ISO that contains the node images never expires. They work inside or outside of cml, like in EVE-NG for example. The ISO for cml itself has a license for 365 days. After 365 days you need to buy another license to keep using it.
@@NetworkEngineerPro I do sincerely apologize, Network Engineer Pro. I purchased a R620 and brought two drives from Water Panthers. Thanks for the advice!
@@jameslacey5341 Hey no worries at all. Sweet that is gonna be a beast of a server! What kind of stuff do you plan on running on it ?
@@NetworkEngineerPro First of all thank you for your service, also, I am a veteran as well. I need to continue learning Cisco technology such as Nexus ( spine and leaf technology) and SD-Wan. I allowed my skills to diminish. I still feel like a newbie. But, I know I must continue forward with networking because I really enjoy it. The server will be used to learn Nexus, brush up on routing protocols and SD Wan. I
That's awesome, thanks for your service as well. I totally get you, life happens. It's hard to keep up with all the technologies all the time, I need to brush up on things too. You got yourself a hell of server so you will be good to go.
Hello Rafael... Do you have any solution for slow-boot of IOSv images... it's taking almost 5hrs to boot...
Hi Sujay, thanks for watching! It should not take that long. How much ram and vcpu does the eve-ng vm have? How many IOSv nodes are you starting at one time?
@@NetworkEngineerPro i'm running eve-ng in Vmworkstation 16 over a Virtual Machine of windows server 2016... I believe this might be the issue.... only one node at a time...
@@SujayRajegowda yea that could be the issue, Try and build the eve-ng vm straight on vmware workstation and see if its better. Good luck!
Need help adding Cisco CML IOL images to eve-ng. Any suggestion :? Thank you
Sure, did you follow this procedure? www.eve-ng.net/index.php/documentation/howtos/howto-add-cisco-iol-ios-on-linux/
@@NetworkEngineerPro Thanks for the response. I was not sure about the license part. I purchased CML and thought i could find the license I paid for. I thought i did not have to go to google and try and find a way to generate a license.
Do you want to use IOL images only? You can use the vios images following the regular procedure no license to worry about. If you want to use the IOL images let me know i can find a site that i used to generate a license. It has nothing to do with the cml license btw its just a python script you run once in eve-ng to get the iol images working.
Here try this it shows the complete process for adding iol images including generating the license.

@@NetworkEngineerPro I guess i really do not need the IOU i can use the IOS. Thank you for your content I am new to the channel and looking forward to working on my CCIE Enterprise. Congratulations on getting yours!!
For IOS-XR images is same process?
Hey jose, yes I was able to add IOS-XRv 6-3-1 and IOS-XRv9000 6-6-2 successfully with the same process, I'll be uploaded that tutorial this weekend. Both were qcow2 images. Thanks for watching!
@@NetworkEngineerPro That will be great!!! 😎 Thank you so much!
I'm getting this error:
PHP Fatal error:
The encoded file /opt/unetlab/wrappers/unl_wrapper has expired.
in Unknown on line 0
Interesting, at what point in the process Did this happen?
@@NetworkEngineerPro when I pasted the fix permissions command. I think it had something with the version of EVE-NG I’ve downloaded initially, because trying a second time with the one downloaded from official website it worked !
oh awesome, glad to hear its working now. What kind of labs are you interested in doing?@@ershadramezani6716
@@NetworkEngineerPro I’m currently preparing for the CCNP ENCOR exam and focusing on routing labs. I was using CML, but having access to EVE-NG as well is great. Thank you!
No problem. I am working on free workbook style routing labs for the CCNP/CCIE in EVE-NG. its coming soon but If you want more info check out my website www.networkengineerpro.com , it will be a work in progress but if your interested you can get notified there, first one should be coming later this month. @@ershadramezani6716
