  • This review is about the pyzel gremlin. It's a perfect california groveler for waves 1-6ft + depending on the slope of the wave. The pyzel gremlin goes really well in slower waves and can handle good sections. Using a big fin that also generates speed is very helpful to add to the flatness speed generating characteristics of this board.
Overall this board is fast, makes flat sections, doesn't hold very well in barrels, does airs easily, fits into a tight pocket, can be ridden with less volume because its flat, and is very versatile and has a short board feel.
    Its 5'7", 19.88" wide and 29.3 L
    I am 6'1, 188lbs

that would be a sick set up. The extra lightness would do wonders with this already fast board

Sweet review. Any comparison from the Gremlin to a Lost Rocket Redux/V3?

the gremlin es way chunkier on the rails.... i hace both Gremlin and RR, both are amazing... both paddle like a champ ... but the RR has a little more performance, more rcoker on the tail and lower rails compare to the gremlin...

Great review! What do you think about sizing up with this board? I surf inconsistent often mushy sometimes dumpy New England waves, I'm intermediate, 6'0 178lb and my 5'10" 33.7L hypto krypto feels like it bogs down unless I'm surfing it in good (rare) hurricane swell. Thinking about the 6'0 36.6L version. Is that too big for this board?

it was interesting because i sized down a bit on this and wasn’t dissatisfied. i usually ride like 29.8 liters on my shortboards. my gremlin was 29.4.
honestly i could have used like .2 liters more but the design of the board with a “flat” rocker made up for it.
the reasoning i had for getting a shorter groveler was . short so it can fit in small waves, and light so i can throw it around in small waves
