    After filling the spomb,i normally give the spomb a couple of shakes to shift the bait to the front [like you would do with the ketchup]for a better flight during the cast

    Top tip. Make sure when using your marker sticks that you reel the line back on to the reel tight to avoid frapping on your next cast.

    Although it sounds obvious to many....My biggest tip for anyone new to spombing is make sure you stay within a range you are comfortable casting and HIT THE CLIP!! Casting the spomb short of the clip generally results in a splash of epic proportions!! Simply hitting the clip will ensure that the bulk of the force is taken away and the spod can land with far less disturbance.

    Good tip.. wrap the braid 3 times around the line clip, the extra wraps help cushion the point of impact and helps to prevent crack offs.

    Good tips. Thank you for that shared kwonledge. Lots of people believe it doesn't work in shallow waters. My tip:Let them believe because I had some great results with this tactic, using it on waters only 3 feet deep...

    To change spombs tie a big loop at the end of your shock leader big enough to pass a large spomb through then tie a tag end at the end of the loop for quick realise to change your spombs.

    When spombing groundbait always make sure to form it into balls/eggs that will fit in the spomb if you want it to sink, if you try to scoop it in loose it'll hang in the upper/middle layers for ages and may not settle where you want it (potentially good for zigging).

    small and medium spombs are perfect for use with actual fishing rods (maybe even better than a spod rod)...
    take your hooklink off, attach small-medium spomb to lead clip, cast spomb clipped up, put the hooklink back on, cast to exact same spot (no meassurments needed whatsoever)..very precise and practical for quick sessions or when setting up in dark...

      Dry braid goes through the rings better than wet braid... on the retrieve i keep the braid dry only the first 10 yards or so after the leader i dip the tip to wet the braid to prevent wind knots frap ups.

    When you spomb watch out for the weights. Boilies, seeds, pellets have diffent weight. If you want to use the same force for the throwing mix the baits or add some liquid for the little pellets or seeds. So their weight will be the same.

    Ive added a glow in the dark heat shrink over the rear stem one of the ones you can charge up with a uv torch brilliant when the light is failing
    I also find if im using a very sticky mix adding a bit of a bait soak liquid to the inner of the spomb first gives a much better ejection for the bait
    And my final tip if you are putting out floaters and want the extra weight i have one that ive poped the sping arms off and clipped in a .5 oz inline square on both sides the extra oz is enough to boost the range but the float will still hold it up should you crack off only downside is you then cant do a concealed float and have to float the stem but as a trade off you still get more distance

    • @FishyflapsUK
      @FishyflapsUK Před 4 lety +2

      jimmy ball have the shock leader from ur hand to the tip of ur 12ft rod set up then down too the reel and two turns worth round the spool (so to answer your question its about 24-30ft) make sure the leader knot connected to your mainline is at the bottom of your spool after winding in to help prevent obstructions on the cast.
