  • My new book is out! It's called Massage Is Weird: massagesloth.com/book/
    Want a great opening move for your massage, and a way to access the back of the head and neck while the client is supine? Give this technique a try!
    This one sounds simple, but it can take some practice to get the movements flowing. It goes like this: Press the right shoulder inferiorly with your right hand while scooping up into the left side of the neck with your left hand. Reverse directions, pressing with your left while you scoop with your right. Alternate these movements, starting small and exaggerating as you proceed. This will slowly convince the nervous system that it's safe to allow the head and neck to move, all while giving a great stretch down into the shoulders.
    Some tips: Keep the palmar surfaces of your hands close to the client's skin as you press and scoop. If you can keep your skin travelling along their skin, it will help this feel like a natural rock instead of a "press, press, press" sensation. Let this movement come from your hips, allowing your torso to rock from side to side. This can also feel great without any oil at all, allowing yourself to move much more slowly and play with moving the fascia rather than doing much travelling across the skin.

      do you need both quickbooks plus the self employed for the average RMT?

    • @MassageSloth
      @MassageSloth  Před 4 lety +2

      The self-employed package is self-contained, so if you already have a version of quickbooks that works for you, this will likely have some redundant features. I like QB self-employed because it guides me through categorizing all of my purchases (and setting up rules to do so automatically), and it will track your mileage via an app. It's cool, but not necessarily a big step up if you already have a system that works.

    I enjoy your video's very much! I watch them, not necessarily from a 'massage' perspective, but to relax by listening to your voice and seeing you perform the massaging. It works very soothing, like some kind of unintended ASMR, specially when I cannot sleep. Thanks a lot, and keep them coming!!

    I love this technique. And with the forearms close to the neck and head they can give subtle clues for the client to let go of their head, they know they forearms are their to "catch" them when they relax into the motions.

    I'm a massage therapy student and I graduate hopefully in October. I have about 80 massages in (practice, not including in class trades). I'm finding that repetitive strokes in this position over the pectoralis major, around the deltoid, up the traps, and up the cervical spine is making my wrists super sore. I'm sure it's not proper body mechanics, can you give me some insight in this?
