  • In today’s video I decided to shake things up a little and try out a few of the Landing Challenges in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Specifically, I’ll be targeting the 747 and the A320Neo in this video, with another video for the smaller aircraft coming soon!
    Our landing challenges take us to New York JFK (KJFK), Rio de Janeiro (SBGL) and Sydney (YSSY)

    Earned a sub there mate. Love your videos, and thanks for doing Auckland! I finally managed to download mine.

    I'm feeling that the ground roll in NY is off. On my best run I deliberately landed a little bit to the right of the center, which according to the game was better than being more centered.

    The Speedbrake lever should click into place when it is ARMED, and you will also get a SPEEDBRAKE ARMED message in the screen where it shows your flap setting.

    Hi I would love it if you could visit Wellington New Zealand, taking off from Wellington International Airport (NZWN), fly around the city then head north over the Hutt Valley and then head Nth West to land at Kapiti Coast Airport (NZPP) just north of Wellington........Thanks :)

    I love how hard it is flying in this sim it's not easy there's always so many factors when flying and this sim does it right in past sims they felt real but kind of static and not dynamic

      Although there are a lot of bugs but they should be fixed

    See there - landing the Airbus? If the spoilers were armed and are set, when you were "too high", it sortta would have taken you all the way down to the RWY. Speed breaking also overcomes 'Ground Effects' the force that caused you to "float" over the RWY. Spoilers also force the wings DOWN.
    P. S. News flash: P3D v6 will be entirely ORBX - 5th Generation ORBX.

    5:45 it is perfectly realistic, as you landed first on the right wheels...

    • @MrYorkiesWorld
      @MrYorkiesWorld  Před 3 lety +1

      The dynamics in the stock 747 are very exaggerated and far less realistic than in the real world. In reality, the main gear suspension systems would not react like this, especially when the plane was essentially 99% wings-level upon landing. Unfortunately this is the best we have in terms of flight dynamics until PMDG and other third party developers release their products for the simulator.

      @@MrYorkiesWorld by the way did u figured out how to get more points at ground roll? even if i land exactly in the middle of the runway and stay there the whole roll, i get no points at all... bit frustrating cuz u can't get a good score without it.

    Flight model needs work. Also no touch-down vibration or nose-wheel contact noise with the runway.

    JFK airport grass is parched and burnt as it would be in mid-summer while the rest of the scenery is as green as ever! Looks weird.

    Under the, but before I get into all that, you should have done more homework, Mr. Whatever, and I'm not trying to be a wise guy. picking up where I left off, 'Welcome screen > 'Options' .> 'Controls' are all the settings - and I do mean ALL, for the popular controllers out there. In there is every known autopilot setting, and then some. It will take a bit getting familiar with the interface, but once you see the utter elegance of it, you'll want to dig in for the long haul. Departing from AP settings are flaps, trim, and your speed break. Talking about speed breaking: Pulling back that handle you had in your hand does Arm them, however, there's a problem I see here. as with flaps, speed breaks have a detent and the handle has to be lifted up to move it to the first detent (ARMED). As you move the handle back towards the pilot, the spoilers and slats start to move. The further back the more the spoiler is raised and the slats lowered. Speed breaking usually takes place at about 700 - 500 ft, and about 160 kts. Keep the 747 going about 160 kts and at about 400 ft, set the SB halfway back - Especially in that really big plane that is notorious for being a bit sluggish. You had the flaps correct (25 degrees) for your speed. There's no set way for flaps and using the speed break, it wholy a pilot thing. Mostly all of the pilot error related fatal air disasters are caused by both pilots in sharp disagreement with how to set these two control surfaces for LANDING. So don't worry if you can't do it "Right". There is no right way or wrong way. Nice landing, b;y the way, I'm jealous, well sortta. I purpose to you that you begin considering how to set up this FS and then begin passing your experience on to us. Personally, I don't like MSFS - ALL 100GB of it. No pop-out gauges, no way to change your location mid-flight, and no liveries. And the asking price USD 150.00? If you want a 787 - 10? WHO CARES? Those things are almost as hard to fly as FSX - X's earlier models of the 747 - 400. Speed breaking is an acquired art of pure mussel memory, much like flap setting. In your settings, you will find kee assignment slot for 'Flaps 1', flaps 2, and so on. And MACROS. Buddy - my friend, it is going to be well worth the time and effort to get real familiar with the BEAST. This is revolutionary. It makes living with Microsoft Flight Simulator that much easier. And, That's all I have for you now...
