What will be really interesting is to revisit in a year and see how much improvement there has been. Just look at how far AI generated images have come in the last year or two (remember 6 fingered humans and webbed hands?). For static images (like the sample clip) with no real motion it works pretty well but think of the computing power it takes to adjust for a moving object (or conversely a moving background). It’ll get there in time!

You are right. AI is evolving. Its up to the software publisher's to incorporate these changes so that might be the big difference in one year....who is being up to date and who is not. Time will tell.

The problem is background has mostly same colors the man (and hat) has, so AI compare background 'color pallet' with foreground and remove all foreground colors found in background.
I think one can use 'two-pass' approach:
    1) Place video (with hat) on timeline,
    2) AI Remove background,
    3) Export altered video,
    4) Again place exported video on timeline (track 2),
    5) Create some dark color background (pink maybe) in track 1,; and
    6) Now, AI Remove (black) background from video.
    Don't know...make sense.

Yes - it sort of works but useless for any "serious" production. Thanks for the video - it confirmed my findings. David

Somehow, the CZcams notification pointed you to video #27 instead of #40. I've never heard of CZcams making a mistake. (cough, cough).

    Great test.,
Good to see you back making videos again on PowerDirector,
I had an unusual experience the other day five crashes in a row with my PowerDirector,
A friend of mine thought it may be a bad audio clip so I remove them and started over and no crashes so far so do you think it could have possibly been a bad audio clip ?

Any corrupted file remains a corrupted file, until you fix the file. But you didn't state if your audio clips were separate from the video. If they were not, does the file play with no problems in Windows Media Player? If it crashes Media Player, then you have your answer. What was the source of your audio clip? Can you re-download it again? I'd also suggest that if you crash PowerDirector two times in a row, then I'd re-boot the entire system to see if that helps. I doubt if the problem is within PowerDirector. I haven't had a crash in several months now and I use it every day. If I could ever repeat the circumstances of a crash, I most certainly would be making one of my videos about it.

in the old green screen removal tools, I believe it was possible to go back to individual frames where the removal wasn't correct and hand change the errors to be back on the edges as desired. Has this ability to fine tune the background removal been lost? That is, is there no way to fix those few times where the AI removal was quite correct, and it didn't track to the edge of the person or their hair correctly?

I don't recall ever using or having the need use any frame-by-frame editing in previous versions. But I think you are right about now losing the ability to fine tune the background removal, if it was ever there. I'm thinking along the lines of a custom mask with a motion tracker might be a possible method.

Wait Wait I did not see the color of the day. I agree for a non moving video seems to do really good, but whats the point of a non moving video? - Jack Handy

If you were looking for the color of the day, then you were looking for love in all the wrong places. See Video #26. :-)
