    I still like the Raven Guard amidst famous Chapters like the Ultramarines, Blood Angels, Imperial Fists and some others. The Raven Guard reminds me of units like the SAS/SBS, SEALs, Delta Force, just among famous elite commando units.
    I hope you can do other Chapters like Ultramarines, Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Iron Hands, Dark Angels, Grey Knights, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, several others, also famous regiments like Cadia, Mordia, Catachan, among others. Keep it up. For the Emperor!

      The Raven Guard are an elite force which uses recon/unconventional tactics, much like Special Forces units. Force Recon all the way.

    Just jumped back from the Carcharodons Warhammer Wiki page and found a quote under the chapter beliefs. "Solitary contemplation offers the best opportunity for revelation."

    Sweet, I have wanted to know more about exactly how the Raven Guard operate. They and their later successors seem to use more reasonable and practical techniques than most legions, but take that to an extreme level.

    It is well documented that Corax actually had a disdain for the Xeric tribe members within his own legion. Though, they were apparently specialist at sapping and tunnel warfare, when it came to the fighting and post battle clean up, the Xeric tribes were needlessly brutal. They just didn't fully appreciate the wealth that is stealth.

    Even the cast offs' of the Raven Guard became legends, like the Renegade but not Chaos corrupted Ashen Claws and loyal but dark and brutal Carcharodons. With many believing both Chapters are descended from terran born Raven Guard sent away by Corax because of their unnecessary cruelty and brutality.

    The internal politics of the 19th are what really did it in after Isstvan, had the Terran element not been discarded but embraced they'd have been alot stronger. Unfortunately one can definetly assume that by having close ties to the Luna Wolves the Terran Raven Guard would have participated in the culture of the warrior lodge cults. Either way Corax couldn't afford having them around but wasn't going to outright purge his own like the traitors did.

      More like heretic Legion. Seriously, the DA are even more bland than the Ultramarines. They're just a bunch of anti-social emomarines who have a Primarch named after a gay writer... and a Fortness Monastery named after a gay bar in England (The Rock). Face it, the DA are gay heretics!

    What part of Asia where the Zeric tribes from? Souds like either Afghanistan or Vietnam. Places known for Guerilla tactics.

    • @tunguskalumberjack9987
      @tunguskalumberjack9987 Před 4 lety +2

      IDeO No disrespect intended, here- but it’s spelled “Xeric” in the books- before I came across it I thought it was “Zeric”, as well. To the best of my knowledge, they never specify exactly where in Asia they were from, but the fictional Asiatic Dustfields seem to be a really large area that once encompassed part of the Pacific Ocean (since all the oceans were boiled or evaporated away from nukes, etc), and I always assumed that the Xeric tribes were from the New Zealand and Polynesian areas, and fought against the Pan-Pacific Empire. If you look at the tribal designs featured on early 19th Legion and really early Raven Guard stuff, it looks kind of Maori or Polynesian, to me anyway.
      -EDIT- I just watched the video Oculus made about the Unification Wars, and in it was a map that someone had made (I believe it was another fan), and it shows the Xeric tribes just to the south of the Himalayas (fictional Hymalazian Mountains), so it looks like I was incorrect in my assumption of where they were from. But like I said, I don’t think that GW or Forge World or the Black Library have ever stated exactly where they originated. Just didn’t want to send you down the wrong path-

      He can make that choice for himself, Certainly they are both great 40k content creator's... but both go about it in a very different way, Oculus seems to be more pure, and true to the lore. arch is more lets say colorful.

      Thank you for the suggestion. While I absolutely admire Arch for his success in building and tapping into the lore channel community here on CZcams, I'm afraid that our styles are a bit too different to mesh. Also, he's likely never heard of me nor particularly cares!
