    Greetings from Greece, Chris. We use a somewhat different approach in my company for walk in defrost control. The kind of controllers that we use are most of the time the kind with two temperature probes, one for space temperature, and one for coil temperature. We programm a number x for defrosts per day, for y minutes, up to z degrees in coil temperature. I think it's simpler, yet not much less energy efficient, and you don't have to install the controller inside the walk in, but only the probes.

    For future reference, you can clean off bird boo-doo with the following mixture.
    1 part Palmolive
    1 part Baking soda
    5 parts water
    This is a pre-soak. If the mess is REALLY bad and smells HORRIBLE, replace the water with 3% hydrogen Peroxide. This *shouldn't* damage anything, but it will shred apart any organic waste material and dead things you come across with shocking efficiency. The significant acts as a de greaser. It IS important if you use this, you hit it with a specialized rinse before applying the wash.
    2 parts Palmolive
    1 part Lysol Concentrate
    5 parts Water
    This is the actual wash. The pre-soak cleans very well, but is mainly meant to cut off major gunk, and this actually cleans what's underneathe it. The lyson disinfects.
    Rinse with water.
    Your coil cleaner does the job, but this stuff will handle virtually any organic material you throw at it. Shit, this will actually eliminate Skunk spray.

    I used to work in Everett Washington, Seagulls loved nesting on the roofs. I was not allowed to mess with them. They are *very* protective of there eggs and young. The Seagulls dive bomb you, yes they actual fly around then swoop down flapping wings at your head and then they deliberately poop as they dive down at you. I had to use old filters to shield myself like Captain America when working on the roofs during nesting season :)

    Doing this shit for 40 years now. I have to admit, I can see the newer technology on larger tonnage RTU’s maybe 20 ton up, but the smaller equipment is a financial disaster for the equipment owner at breakdown. Like in your video, maybe it’s a 15 ton Trane with that ECM condenser fan motor failure. The driver fails and that it. Like this one, Trane had 0 in stock! Warranty system in a medical building, summer time, with the space at 80 degrees. Picked up a standard 1075 460v motor with capacitor and had it operating in 2 hours. Took a month for the factory to get me a replacement! Left the temporary motor in the unit since there are 6 others on the same roof.
    So much for simplicity!

    You can change the defrost termination on the ke2. I think 50f is a good number. Whatever it's set for from the factory isn't good if you've got a lot of moisture or poorly placed sensors.

      Until the authorities figures out where he did it then it won't be any trouble since it's probably a local ordinance that states what's permitted. And the effort to figure out where would exceed the profit of the possible fine.
      Just be aware of PETA - they don't care about jurisdictions.
      Given the amount of crap seen on HVACs I'd expect that those working with that are immune to most stuff flying around. 🤪

    Crazy birds, they put up with all the noise and stuff, but they do seem to enjoy the heat coming out of the compressors. And I thought cats are crazy enough to feel at home in an industrial boiler room for example.

  • @DillonV

    I have an interesting question, if you plan on putting a sprayer on a condenser like that would it be beneficial to put a whole house water filter housing and filter at the spicket to help reduce the calcium they are rather inexpensive at $20 and they don’t destroy water flow. I put one on my pressure washer and it works beautifully

    • @ernestrollins383
      @ernestrollins383 Před 3 lety

      A plain filter wouldn’t eliminate the all the calcium in my opinion. It would take a very expensive filtration/ Reverse osmosis system.

    I found, that you have to move the defrost termination sensor from the side where the loops are and stick in the coil usually center of the coil. KE2 Therms are notorious for this inadequate defrost issue

    As a child I spent many hours on a ladder with a heat-gun in walk-ins, mostly in bars, thawing evaps.
    What's the one thing pigeons are kwon for? Always retuning home. Leaving the doors open, not sure if they are capable of deduction and reasoning that you give them credit for.
    I would wager they had some dish detergent to clean up with.

  • @Syphonfllter
    @Syphonfllter Před 3 lety

    You must be right about the ke2s with the weird defrost issue, it will start in the side panel and just spread like cancer. Tried to put it in defrost and it wouldn't go half the time. Put new sensors on Evaps and then it started kicking on and off which makes sense I didn't defrost it manually that time I guess. Just kinda weird
