I'd like to make this candy using mint chocolate chips or regular chocolate chips with crushed peppermint candy sprinkled on top. Has anyone made this candy with either of these ingredients? If so will you let me know how it tasted? Thanks!
I use regular saltines as my base but I have made it before. I have used crushed candy canes, pecans, walnuts, caramel nibs, caramel topping, butterscotch chips, and chopped peanut butter cups. We have to make many batches because it goes quick. There really is no wrong way to top this. Hope you try it!
I'd like to add a little note here. Once the sugar has fully melted, IMMEDIATELY take it off the heat. I made the mistake of not doing this before and my sugar went back to grainy. Lesson learned.
You're cooking all these different things, desserts, and meals. They're so great, and I really enjoy watching you, do them, I thank you because you're spreading joy and love in Europe and you're cooking. Thank you for that. And I really like the fact that some of the comments mentioned using different things. And that's everybody's different and we're just spread the kindness to one another just as Jesus did. Thank you😊
My grandma makes this every Christmas. She uses both saltines and ritz. It’s called fool’s toffee because you don’t go through the whole toffee process to make it.
FYI ...As stated, always use parchment paper for baking. It's designed for that, whereas foil will very often stick in tiny little bits & is very frustrating to remove 😮. 🏖 Kj in Tampa Bay 😊
@@AllHailSeizure90Oh ok and here you are watching this channel which supports her. Keep watching please, to keep her going. 😂 You go through everyone's comments to throw insults, wow what a life. 😅 Obvious loner. 😢😂
We make this every year on a cookie sheet but we use pretzels and top it with pink sea salt. So addictive.
My family makes this every year but we use saltines. My wife likes to put M&Ms on it. I love it but it's so sweet.
Where do you get those recipes from? They are great, love them❤
Been making this for yrs. I use Saltines on cookie sheet. Thinner pieces. Also, gently drop/tap tray on counter. Helps toppings sink in & stick.
You should try it. Club crackers are even better. You get a salty, buttery taste.
Same here

@@catmandid2 Thanks, for the info! It all sounds delish!
I’m new to your channel, and I’ve been cooking for over 60 years. Need to try SO many of these recipes! You rock, grrrrrrrl!

Another suggestion. Cut the butter into smaller pieces and it will melt faster. Great video otherwise.
Chopped pecans or almonds, even unsalted dry roasted peanuts would be good.

I am going to make these .which one you prefer, ritz or saltines?
My gran made something similar, but with saltines. It’s addicting!
I gotta try this. Looks so yummy. Thank you!!!!!!
Looks so yummy. I would use dark chocolate. Thank you!
So would I, just to offset some of the sweetness. Dark chocolate is not quite as sweet as the others. Just my preference😮
Looks delicious! ❤
Been doing this for about 3 years myself now and has become our favorite snack throughout the year hands down!
Definitely will try!
That's the Christmas Crack isn't it??
Yes, very similar 🎉
It would be good with peanut butter chips.
Sea salt on top is also bomb!!
How about mini marshmallows sounds good
Looks so good 😊
Could you please tell me whether you use dark brown sugar or light brown sugar in your recipes. Thank you so much.
I need to make these!
Yum that looks good
Yummy❤❤❤ thank you
Cut sticks of butter into 4 pieces each stick. They will melt faster
Going to melt at same rate no matter how small its cut...
I'm going to try making that this weekend, I just know I can!!.... I'm a terrible cook and an even worse baker!
BTW, your kitchen is beautiful!! ❤
Ohh mama you said two sticks of butter and brown sugar and I was in love! Lol
This is SO GOOD!
Now i want to make it again
In case anybody is wondering, don't use "plant butter" for this. I learned the hard way. Lol
Yummy 😋

Now i want some good salty sweet snaks
R u insane 2 stick of butter?
She’s insane and her “fans “ are as well.
What's wrong with that? Mmmmm! 😅
Buttah makes everything bettah!!!! 😂😂😂😂
Maybe use a combo of milk chocolate, white chocolate, and peanut butter chips.
Ooooh that sounds delicious! 😋
That looks very yummy.
Yes you are the Candy Queen❤
Amazing ❤ 😋 👌
Justine needs to let her fiancé come out of the darkness and let him taste.
She didn't say salted or no salt butter which one please someone tell me can't wait gotta try this but don't know if salt butter or no salt. Thank you
How about using half of the butter, brown sugar, and chocolate chips. Way, way, to sweet and over powering..
A nice trick
Yummmm!!
Sugary 👌........ Too much sugary but 👌👌🙏.
What size bag of chocolate chips is that?
Christmas crack 🎄
Is your name Kaitlin?
Rollos would be good too
There is a rollo candy recipe that's super easy. A rolo on pretel. Top with pecan, walnut or p-nut m&m. We make them every Christmas
I put slivered almonds on mine but I need to up my game and also put on some sprinkles. ☺️
You have outdone yourself! And that’s not easy
Is it... is it really? 😂
I've made this with saltines.
Should use parchment paper, not aluminum foil. Also no need to grease the spatula when spreading the chocolate.
Its usually made with saltines.
Ritz crackers have more flavor. Thanks for the tweak, Justine!
Can go either way!
The more processed, the better in Justines kitchten
@@AllHailSeizure90 Why do you watch this channel when all you do is complain?
How are saltines considered " less processed" than Ritz crackers? Fill me in please!
You need pecans on top
This has been done over and over again. nothing new.
Dog wants some too. ❤❤
Never give a dog chocolate. It's not something to joke about. Especially, on SM.
