- From Season 7 of The Simpsons - Homer Saves Bart from a Baptism. Bart, Lisa and Maggie were placed into Child Custody Protection and wound up with the Flanders. Marge and Homer had to go to parenting school to demonstrate that they were qualified. Ned decides that the three children need to be baptized. Homer and Marge "graduate" from parenting school and rush to the lake to save the kids from being baptized. This episode was a riot.

"I'm a big four-eyed lameo and I wear the same stupid sweater everyday a- THE SPRINGFIELD RIVER!" One of the best Homer jokes
It the earliest joke I can remember understanding as being funnier then just a silly voice or fart joke.
All time favorite gag
@@fallonrishiva7841 The joke is what? That it worked? Isn’t that just as silly?
@@DeathnoteBB I don't know, but I had a terrible sense of humour, like all the stuff I laughed at was just not funny and I remember thinking, "oh, this is actually funny"
Even Castallaneta was cracking up at the joke
The Maggie and Marge reunion is one of the sweetest scenes of the whole series ❤️
❤🙌😍🙌🙏🙌🙏
"BUUUURP!"
A baby never forgets the mother
The sweetest one
I prefer the scene where she becomes possessed and turns her head around.
When the water drips on Homer's head it burns....an he yells like an ogre...the greatest classic simpsons moment of all time
Homer is a Demon.
He was getting cleansed
I'm in tears bro🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This entire episode.
You guys say this under literally every single simpsons clip lol. Stop misusing “greatest” “funniest” etc. this is hardly worth a chuckle
I usually feel bad when Flanders gets bullied, humiliated, or harassed by Homer.
But man did he cross a line in this episode.
They where under his custody
@@sirgothnerd9297 They aren't his legal children. He's a temporary guardian and baptizing another family's children without their parents' consent is illegal.
@@Eric4bz There's no such law.
@@BenjaminGoose Child protective services would take the children away and revoke the family's foster care license if this was done in real life.
No cruzo la línea , los Simpson y los Flanders son miembros activos de la misma iglesia , y si no bautizaron a sus hijos son unos irresponsables , Flanders solo quería salvar sus almas

I miss this Simpsons, man! Seasons 1-8 were true gold.
this was at the end of the classic era
“Oh Maggie your a Simpson again”
Maggie: BELCH
Me: yep she is 😂
Well she does pick after Homer on that one.
Maggie will never be a daughter to Flanders.
Welcome back, Maggie. 😂
"Oh, no! In the eyes of God they'll be Flanderseseses"
Gets me every time I hear this 😂🤣
I remember this interview on the radio where Matt Groening talked about this scene in particular and said "Basically, Homer is the devil." I laughed so hard at that.
That's the buildup of the whole episode.
Which makes Bart the spawn of Satan
But he isn't he devil, if we're talking about the episodes up until the late 90s, Homer may be an idiot and sometimes ignorant, but he is a great father and a good person.
@@stevenjoelBx yes he was about to be saved and homer "Satan" Stoos him listen to what Flanders says to bart before he was about to baptise him
Matt greoning is a 33rd degree freemason
It was so heartwarming when Marge ran and took Maggie into her embrace🥺
And even more heartwarming when the entire family was reunited and no longer had to deal with the torture of living with the Flanders.
She's such a little trooper.
To be fair, this is probably the one time where Homer is completely justified in verbally lashing Flanders. And yet it’s probably the one exchange between them that makes me laugh the most😂
Saving children from forced baptism was one of the best things that Homer has ever done, because baptism should not be forced
@@j.sethfrazer885 Explain how!
Absolutely, such a fucked up thing
@@j.sethfrazer885 Nobody said it was? This Baptism was 100% forced.
@@j.sethfrazer885 To "give" something, the other party must willingly accept it. If they don't want it then it's forced.
@@j.sethfrazer885 It's the truth. Don't be a zealot that forces people into a religion.
the funniest part for me is that the make the holy water that lands on Homers head sound like acid
And it also references the toxic avenger
Ill never forget the part where Homer becomes a Christian scholar for a second after the baptism lol. And the 'shut your ugly face!' right after it. Perfect comedy.
Ironically St. Augustine of Hippo’s conversion from Ambrose of Milan is more historically accurate than most the stuff Ned was questioning Bart and Lisa on when they were playing “Bombardment of Bible Questions” (The Serpant of Rehoboam, Bridal Feast of Beth, etc.)
SHUT YOUR UGLY FACE, FLANDERS!!!
And by historically accurate, I mean that the stuff Ned had mentioned has nothing to do with any real theological belief system, or appears in any Biblical or religious text.
Jesus?
@@MrMatteNWk
Real or not, the religious belief in Jesus is a real, worldwide phenomena. However, The Serpant of Rehoboam, The Bridal Feast of Beth, etc., is not. It was made up for this episode.
Also, I didn't even know Ned Flander's sect did Baptism. I know he's not Catholic.
“You’re gonna be BART Flanders”
“AHHHH!!”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The sound of acid as the water falls on Homers head as he takes the baptism for Bart. And his reaction to it, funniest thing I ever saw back in the day and every time since.
One of best episodes ever of Simpsons.
Homer, "Kids!! We're good parents now. Get your asses out here!"
Child Protective Services, "I'm afraid you're gonna have to do the course all over again."
Homer, "D'OH!!!"
Great episode and one of the few times that what Homer did was the better approach than what Marge was doing. Homer ran like a maniac and got hurt falling down the hill but he succeeded in stopping the baptism if his kids, if he just walked down to the river like Marge did then all his kids would have been baptized.
02:40 Maggie is Homer's daughter through and through. LOL.
Thought the joke was she was really a Barney.
the frog gets me everytime
you mean the burp?
@@ElsaAnnaArendelle the frog when homer and the kids are in the water
The direct juxtaposition of the Flanders being all sunny compared to Homer, Bart and Lisa in the water looking sad and disheveled gets me everytime lol
Homer taking that baptism was so hilarious the first time I saw it I couldn't even pay attention to the rest of the episode I was laughing so hard.
1:40 The holy water burns Homer lol
Hahaha his reaction is priceless
For a moment he becomes a hard-core Christian
Homer is a demon.
@@alexl.4362 Nah, he’s not a demon. Just possessed by one. 🤣
It wasn't holy water at all....lol
I laughed so hard when this episode first aired. 😂
Show how old you are without showing how old you are! Me too though
The most selfless thing Homer has ever done
I don't remember you having green hair...I should really lay off the drugs
Homer did so many selfless things in the series.
How about the time he sacrificed himself to a group of angry reindeers to save Bart?
@@magallanesagustin4952 Depends whether you believe giving up body or soul is more selfless
What about when he refused to let Australia hurt Bart? He's not the brightest but is very caring especially in the classic era.
The disappointment in the flanderses face when they all went back to homer and marge was the most amazing thing in the episode.
Seriously, Ned labelled Homer and Marge 'bad parents' simply because they didn't have their kids baptized?
I'll grant you Homer is far from an ideal father (his strangling Bart all the time for example) but Marge is one of the best TV mothers and can be depended on doing the sensible thing....I think she just decided to let her own children make their own decisions when they were old enough if and when they want to be baptized (Homer would go along with it because he's Homer).
I'm all for baptism, but only for your own kids, not forcing it on another couple's children.
For all of Homer's shortcomings as a parents, he does the right thing and stops the baptism. I mean I always laugh out loud when he pushes Bart out of the way and the baptized water hits his head and he shouts out like an ogre.
Bottom line, Bart, Lisa and Maggie are not Ned and Maude's children, they were Homer's and Marge's, and baptism or no baptism nothing was going to change that.
Oh Bartholomew, I feel like St. Augustine of Hippo after his conversion by Ambrose of Milan
Wait Homer what did you just say?

This would have been the perfect final episode.
Yeah; that beautiful sunset in the distance would have made this a perfect ending to the series. The Simpsons should have ended with this episode.
That was one thing I loved about Simpsons. No matter how controversial the issue. They found a way to tackle it gracefully and comedically.

Leave it to Marge to swoop in and set everything right with Maggie. :)
I’m actually surprised the kids aren’t baptized. The Simpsons go to church every week but maybe Homer and Marge wanted the kids to decide on their own when they were adults if they wanted to be baptized, which would be very progressive of them I think.
so true
Since he was baptised by Ned, does that make him Homer Flanders?

It’s in this clip that I can say “Here’s a joke only people familiar in church history would get!” St. Augustine, who widely influenced Christian thought, was a very badly behaved youth who sought out heretical movements to satisfy his intellectual longing for peace and it was St. Ambrose of Milan who… did as Homer said.

This is a genuine question; Is it illegal to baptise another person’s kids?
If not, why isn’t it?
It isn't a legal issue. It is, however, not allowed under Christian rulings when done without parental consent. At the same time, the Flanders don't know how long they will be raising the Simpson children, and they specifically belong to the same church. Homer fears if they are baptized, that God will view the kids as belonging to Flanders and not to him.
