those little power banks were awesome. you go to great lengths to do these tests. thank you.

Full comprehensive review.
The more you know the further you'll go.
This is the kind of content that brings people together.
Sounds like the Juicero of sogens (*-"so" sold seperately). Also a lot of regular drone flyers probably already have a jackery, bluetti etc, that they plug their drone's AC charger into. And likely panels to match as well.
Unique product. Thanks for the review.
Excellent review. Thank you.
The price is okay, but the product is just too weird. If I were a videographer or photographer on the go with a dji drone, what I need to change is pretty much the drone and laptop, and cameras. Then I probably wouldn’t even need a big inverter at all yet this thing has a 2000w inverter, the 140w (if working would be great to charge most laptops and cameras, and get a cable for the drones. I would much prefer they cut back on the inverter to maybe 500-1000w and fit in the solar controller. After all the thing only has 1000wh with 70% capacity, with no way to even connect extra batteries, what good will the 2000w inverter do with that capacity.
Thorough review as always Professor. When I shop these devices I stick to a $500 per 1kw budget. I have the delta 2 + eb I purchased for $999 a year ago (great unit) that can be had today for same $ at Home Depot today and most days through the year. Amazon today 7/8 is $899. Also have the Oukitel 5000 and use daily since 1/1/24 without any problems at all purchased for $1749. Some complaints are it produces low voltage around 110 or less, mine has never been that low. Currently running 5000 btu ac @120 volts. With Prime days coming up and everyone having their own sales in play, could be some good deals coming!
Always dig your videos, sir!
Great intro sfx!
These very hungry inverters make this unit unsuitable for powering devices for extended periods, but really good to recharge other batteries and run high demand appliances for short bursts.
Good morning Professor!
Great video!
This unit for basic AC and USB is a great value 2200w+ for that price blows EcoFlow and Bluetti out.
Someone might be able to transform proprietary ports to xt60 with a little work.
Another Jackery proprietary cables😮
Any power station can charge with more than one 12v socket.
You just need a splitter for the solar input. You can have 2, 3, 4, or more depending on the Max current or MAX voltage in series input.
I’m glad I caught this video, because it helped me realize that I really have been looking for the 500 version…. Without realizing it! I hope you have a coupon for that one dr? 😅❤
if you need all the cables, they are listed at $19.00 each. Best to make your own if you have the ability.
DOA,I do like the look of the power banks you used
gohobo.io/padd
"There's no wireless whatsoever"... they may be preparing for the DJI ban by Congress. If that law passes, any DJI device using WiFi, Bluetooth, etc, will no longer be able to obtain FCC approval.
thanks for the in depth review. i was worried it would be kind of gimmicky. i bought the 500 a few weeks ago to have something around that can charge from solar.
Keep in mind what you want this to do. IMO the special cables and solar charger, limited solar input are show stoppers. Keep it simple.
Good day HT
I'm more interested in the 140w power banks. Can you provide a link?
gohobo.io/padd
@@HOBOTECH Thanks!
cool battery
Tell us how you really feel lol, this thing in more cases than not is just a frustrating inconvenience that is terribly inefficient. Nailed it with drones but tried too hard to be different with the power station and failed😖
Good morning from Godley Texas
FYI, on Amazon, others have reported that when those USB-C power banks get warm they default to 60W charge/discharge so maybe the USB-C charging ports on the power station were indeed 140W but the power banks were the issue...
Nope, they were sitting at room temp all day. I show in the video they worked just fine.
@@HOBOTECH a USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable provides ~100W of power to a Macbook Pro 13' from the DJI POWER 1000's USB-C ports. @jeff8207 might be unto something. Might want to test with a 16-inch Macbook Pro which takes the full 140W on paper.
I don’t own a laptop so no firmware updates for me.
The solar add on is not terrible but the cable slop will be heavy with 6 panels, 12v inlet for cooler and charge cables.
man as a drone operator I really want to avoid any radio and magnetic field interference what a hell DJI was thinking when creating this power bank?
Any one know how how I could use Jackery solar panel on this DJI?
Nice
Hello
Outstanding and very thorough review. In your opinion is it ok to keep this fully charged for those unexpected power outages?
Yes
Excellent presentation. Thank you. Would you mind providing a brand/link to the two small USB-C power banks you used for testing?
gohobo.io/padd
@@HOBOTECH Thank you.
@@HOBOTECH Do you happen to know if the Poweradd's support passthrough charging? I really need a smaller unit that will do passthrough. Thank you!
DJI usually gets their first version wrong but the second or third is usually really good. I’d wait before getting this thing.
UPDATE ****** FYI the 12v Car kit acts as a SOLAR charger too - ******
Learnt a ton from your vid Prof! The power bank looks decent, but quite some 1-star reviews on AMZ got me on the fence.. anyone who bought it? can it really stay charging at 140W in the long run?
Great review, Hobotech defo knows! Interesting features but I'm guessing you'll be paying way over the top for all the proprietary faff, prolly just cashing in on their drone fan base...
*It's not really very good is it Dr. Hobo ? I really like DJI Products, as I have two of their cameras, but all this extra proprietary, extra purchase only to obtain full feature functionality isn't really a selling point for me. Also, the downright misrepresentation of the PD 140 USB-C sockets @ 60 Watts ONLY is an open turn off ! Nope ! No thanks. Nothing to see here. Time to move along. P.S. The 500 version actually looks more attractive, since you can charge via USB-C PD. I have several foldable solar panels that feature this output.*
Where did you get those small 140w USB power banks?

@@HOBOTECH Thank you Tom!
Hey brother, do you know what kind of adapter I could use so that my power station could charge from AC slower like this DJI one? I'm looking for cheapest solution if there is one. TIA👍
Not one person knows how to lower the power draw to charge a power pack slower?😢
Yikes.
Is there a review of the Yoshino solid state power station coming soon?
Thanks Tom ! TAKE CARE..
DJI drone company now sells power stations.
When you check the dB level of various devices you do no reference the base (background) room level. With that we can better understand the sound level of the device. Please consider adding in text the room base level it would be very helpful. Thanks for your reviews very informative.
It's always the same in the room when I test and as quiet as I can make it around 40db.
Thanks so much for letting us know it is worthless than an electric car in Houston after a hurricane.
USB PB to 5.5mm 12V adapters are under $10. It needs POE++
Just buy an Ecoflow and be done with it. You can't update via an app because there isn't one. You can't DC charge out of the box. The USBC ports failed, which might be fixed later down the road with a software update, but you'll need to be ready with your PC to do the update. Stick to drones DJI!
USB C operates at 100watt with some cables -some 140 watt usb c cables default to 60 watt
I clearly show in the video the cables I use support 140w.
@@HOBOTECH yeah it’s frustrating- I went through 4x different power banks and 5 different cables … 100 watt cables draw 120 watt , the 140 watt cables draw 57 watts needs a fix like you said
Yikes, so many adapters. Would hate to lose one of those when you really need it.
This thing is bad news... No included charge cables or MPPT controllers (and the one you can buy limits you to parallel setups only), wildly inefficient inverter that is too powerful for that battery, etc. This makes proprietary Jackery look good and I hate that company.
As soon as you said "not included" to 3 different things, I knew I wasn't going to buy it.
Power bank link please 🙂
gohobo.io/padd
@@HOBOTECH Thanks!
I think DJI needs to stick to Drones; proprietery cables for each of the adapter canbles (i.e. Mppt controller) makes this a dumb idea for anybody to buy...Go Jackery in you want a little better...
Some baffling design choices on this one.
Honestly, any company selling solar-gen battery backup without using universal pv connections like mc4/Anderson is not worth it. Geneverse, Jackery, DJI. Junk.
FINALLY - REDEMPTION !
Jackery is no longer the shittiest power bank manufacturer on the market. Well done DJI, that was a difficult bar to undercut.
But seriously, 6 1/2 minutes in, and I see no reason at all to buy this device. Faster charging for drone batteries? That’s a joke of a benefit. If you need to take that much drone footage just buy 3 extra batteries and get a , cough , jackery to recharge them.
It’s their first product. So we’ll let it slide and judge them when updated versions come out in a year or two.
I would highly suggest anyone thinking about this should check out the Ecoflow Delta 2. You can get it now around $529 and it comes with solar capability and car charging cable out of the box. No messing with extra adapters, and has the ability to 2x or even 3x the capacity with add-on batteries.
Not impressed for my needs
agreed....ill be shocked if this is a big seller.
They lost me at no built in DC charging.
60 watts? 😂
No thanks. They make great cameras though.
Didn’t DJI just get banned in the United States?
No.
It's just their drones. The ban hasn't happened yet. The legislation has only been introduced. See HR 2864.
DJI should just stick with drones
Far out
Geez. Proprietary plugs/outlets? Optional cords? Too much mess for me. I’ll pass.
Too many too many cables to buy I'm out
Another Chinese Trojan horse! See if there is a gps etc..I would not buy that if it was 100$.Keep up the good work hobo, the 4patriots still rates #1 of your videos.
IMHO- what a oddball nightmare unit. Who were the engineers that came up with this thing ? I also find it silly, to have a unit that has a inverter that handles 2200 watts constant, with a battery pack of only 1000 watt hours.
Really only 700 watt hours.
@@teuton6167 id be shocked if this is a big seller. Id like it much more, if it only handled 1500 watts constant { which would suit most people, since this is the max most household applainces use } and had 1500-2000 watt hr battery pack.
Not including the ability to charge via solar or via your car out of the box… ya DJI is not doing great here.
Yep, when he covered this around 2:10 I was like "well that's a dealbreaker for a lot of people.."
Proprietary connectors should be avoided whenever possible. It's a step backward when most of the competition can take basically any DC input voltage within a certain range through their integrated MPPT controllers, using standard connectors like XT60 or Anderson power pole..
@@Justin-C it’s built for people that are drone operators, ones that make money with their drones. Also use only the new DJI drones… which the government is close to banning.
@@Justin-C Even Jackery is starting to stop with that nonsense
Crazy they missed this
@@TheWatchMker they did not miss it. They saved money by not including it and think because they are DJI people will buy it anyway
No solar, no interest.
I've been using DJI products from the cheapest to the most expensive in a professional setting and they are one of the worst brands. Amazing at first, but horrible support moving forward and weird things that drive you crazy. I've thrown out so much DJI gear.
Boooooooooooooo (this is how is starts with the other companies)
Who the heck designed this? It is so bad.
My Segway cube 1000 has a 2200 watt inverter. It charges very fast at 1200 watts. I paid 549 for it.😊
It's a very confused product. It's cooling and recharging systems are designed to be as lightweight and compact as possible while sacrificing performance except for charging your drone batteries which is what it's designed to do, ok that's good. However, It also has a huge inverter that it simply can't support but increases the bulk and cost without providing much useful function.
