    Transcript:
Well, the thing that I love about our research is that it's very translational. We use primary human cancer specimens that allowed us to identify a potential new therapeutic and to develop a couple of new diagnostic biomarkers.
My name is Chris Moskaluk. I am a professor of pathology. I perform surgical pathology diagnostics, I do cancer research, and I am the medical director of the clinical laboratories.
I think our research has already impacted human health. Our work led to a clinical trial of a novel therapeutic drug in a particular cancer type here at UVA. It was a fairly uncommon tumor, so over half the patients came from outside of the state of Virginia to come here for this trial. And we've developed a couple of the biomarkers that we're using diagnostically in cancer specimens right now.
