  • A typical operation on the Portage Flyer Heritage Railway, representing the Huntsville & Lake of Bays Railway from years gone by. On this day H&LBR No. 2 was out.
No. 2 is the only working steam locomotive from the Huntsville Lake of Bays right now, and is run during the summer. The heritage society does own No. 1, which is currently out of service because the boiler needs retubing, and many other repairs need to be done.
The first passenger car in the train (last on return journey) is an original car from the H&LBR, and the second is a refurbished Toronto streetcar that has been turned into a passenger car.
The railway also owns No. 3, a small diesel switcher from a mine in Sydney, Nova Scotia, which operates in the spring, autumn, and on a special train at Christmas. The heritage society also owns a small gas-powered loco that is currently out of service.
The newly formed line that loosely represents the original route is in a different location, starting at Rotary Village Station at the tail end of Muskoka Pioneer Village, and runs up to Ferry Lake Station at the end of the line.
