    Hi, I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find an answer so I hope you can help me...
    I am wanting to add as "send as" email address, from a different domain, but it's a google group not a regular account... and I get stuck in the verifying the smtp step, because I don't know what password do provide.. I've tried with creating a google app password, but doesn't work.. is there a way?

    Great video explaining the difference between alias and adding additional domain. Still a fuzzy personal choice and to add complexity, how does a calendar scheduling tool such as Calendly work with each option? Hopefully, one option will work well/better with one Calendly account.

    • @itGenius_
      @itGenius_  Před rokem +1

      I suspect Calendly will only work with your 'primary' bucket email alias, as it will send out calendar invites from the google email address connected to the Calendar account

    Hey Peter. Thanks for this super informative video in the subject again. I've got a maybe special (who knows?) question that I really like to find a reasonable answer for.
    So I happened to have a business that had been downgraded from 8 to 1 employee and I've had a person integrated as a main user. Basically it was our office manager. Now she don't using her account however I still pay for two users at the moment which is something I like to avoid but also keep all her data considering she have done a lot of conversation regarding in our business with suppliers. Is there an easy way to migrate her data under the main user and saving a buck or two every month by cancelling her active account?
    Thanks for the answer.
    Wolf

      @maxm87 Před rokem +1

      You can definitely do that, using the "data migration" feature under accounts. Something that I learned the hard way is that while this migrates drive and gmail data, it doesn't migrate calendar data. If you want to maintain the record of your old users calendar events you can export/import that separately. I suggest using the chat support feature on the admin dashboard for any follow up questions.

    Helpful video, question...can you bill your users/subscriptions for the different companies on different cards? I tried setting up a separate domain and a few users in an existing workspace account and it automatically assigned them to the single existing subscription for the domain that was already in the account. Spent 30 min on chat with support and they said there's no way to do that. Clearly companies would keep their finances separate, so why would you not be able to bill separate credit cards and/or create a second subscription for the second domain?

    Are there any cost savings in merging currently separate domains in to one account with an add-on structure. Eg. 3 domains with 2 users on all and one unique on each?

    • @itGenius_
      @itGenius_  Před rokem

      Each mailbox bucket will consume a license, so likely not unless you are combining accounts with multiple domain aliases

  • @mr.bayarea1152

    Hi, if I use the bucket system, can I have a seperate icon/profile image for when I email people? When I currently use alias domains, it is the same logo on all of them. Thanks!

    • @itGenius_
      @itGenius_  Před 11 měsíci

      Yes, you can have a separate icon/profile image for when you email people if you use the bucket system on Google Workspace. When you use alias domains, the same logo is used for all of them because they are all linked to the same Google Workspace account. However, with the bucket system, each bucket can have its own icon/profile image. This means that you can create a different icon/profile image for each of your email addresses.

    I have a scenario where I have a google workspace domain, and my sister company has a google workspace domain. separate employees, separate email domains. So my only goal it to have ease of sharing docs between the two domain share drives. I would love to have a "link" in one domain share drive to a folder or drive in the other domain, so they see the latest updates, is this possible? or just continue to use external shares like you would with anyone normally not in your workspace (domain) ?

    I own a web hosting and website building company. I was hoping to offer workspace to clients as a perk. If I manage their domains, can I not have all the domains under one workspace account and create separate users for each client? Would they have access to each others calendars/emails/drives?

    Hello Pete, great video. I have a question regarding a holding company that owns multiple brands / businesses. Is it better to go with an add-on domain or alias domain? The staff members are shared amongst all of the brands and therefore, it would be costly having multiple user licenses for one member of staff. Now, at the same time, we do not want to confuse our customers across all of the brands. I was thinking of adding all of the domains as add-on domains to the main holding company Google Workspace account and thereafter, create a group for each member in each brand to link directly to their main holding company account and when they receive emails, it will be directly linked to their inbox and if they wanted to send out emails from that particular brand, we can add a "send out" account which is for the brand they are working on. Besides this, we are hardcore with Google products and therefore, we use Google Workspace for all brands to keep everything online and accessible at all times. The question here is, is it better to create 1 Google Shared drive for each brand and inside it add all of the departments and share with them with member or is it better better to create 1 Google Shared drive for each department and share it with the members in question? Thank you in advance for your response!

    • @itGenius_
      @itGenius_  Před měsícem

      The general rule is if you have multiple shareholders and are likely to split out the sub companies, go with completely separate workspace accounts
      If it’s all under one roof and will stay that way, run it under one account with addon Domains

    Secondary domain feels like a strange hybrid of domain alias and two accounts. Like a jack of all trades but master of none. I still can't see the reason for using it. If I wan't the organizations separate but still have overarching control why not just go for two accounts. Yes you have to login 2 times but that is easy when you can have multiple logins stored in chrome.
